Chapter 24

The day had aged extremely, contrasting to the bright blue colour that had welcomed me before I entered this building, now, it was all pitch black. The cool wind hit me as I pushed open the back door with speed, hoping to still catch up with the strange woman.

I skimmed my gaze at a stretch, searching through the parking lot while taking much slower steps. After a long while, I still couldn't find anyone and it had me disappointed, though, as I was about to return, I noticed a silhouette figure against the tall lights of the lot. It wasn't curiosity, I just hoped that she was the one and as I got closer, it was a woman but clearly, whoever was currently convulsing on tears.

Getting much closer, I was now standing a few feet away and the way at which the person's back tensed and straightened portrayed that they had heeded my presence. I hadn't intended to be subtle or sneaky, the plan was to make my footsteps conspicuous enough and fortunately, it had worked.
