The serene sounds of birds chirping woke me up. I yawned and stretched my body.

I checked the time on my phone, it was 5:30 am, the sun hadn’t risen yet, that means today I could again watch the sunrise. I steadily hopped out of my bed, brushed my teeth, and wore a full-sleeved white t-shirt and black leggings, I quickly wore my white snickers. I tiptoed towards the front door and slowly opened and closed it. Instantly, the morning’s chilly air hit my nostrils. Making me inhale deeply. I sighed and started jogging towards the beach.

The fresh yet alluring scent of the golden sand and blue sea hit my nostrils, the moment I stepped into the beach. Making me feel more alive, as usual. It was silent as always, only the sound of waves hitting each other vigorously could be heard. I loved this silence, it was peaceful. I sat down on the sand close to the sea but far enough so that, the water doesn’t reach me. Hugging my chest, I sat there watching the sunrise, to give the world yet another day, another chance, another sunshine and giving brightness and its light to the world. I don’t know, why I love watching the sunshine, it gives me a ray of hope, it gives me happiness and warmth. That no matter, how the dark the night is, at the end of the night and the sun rises, hell, it still illuminates at night through the moon, which means there is always light in the darkness.

I sat there silently watching the sunrise, for how long, I have no idea. Pulling my phone out of my pocket, I looked over the picture, we took last week’s Sunday, after I came back from Christian’s house. Yeah, it’s been a week, since I have been to Christian’s.

Things have been weird between me and him, I don’t know why he doesn’t talk to me anymore, or heck, he doesn’t even make me do his works anymore, wait he did, he made me complete his English assignment, that too he texted me and told to email him, I did that. I know I should be pleased but something feels off with him. Whatever, it is I should be happy that he finally has left me alone. But it’s not like I don’t see him, well I have to see him as from the last week we have been sitting at the same table during lunchtime, as much as I hated attention, now it seemed I have been getting them a lot. I wouldn’t have sat there, but Jace wouldn’t stop asking, he threatened on carrying me and Em there, so we weren’t left with many options. Moreover I and Christian didn’t even acknowledge each other’s presence. It was totally fine with me. Who wants his attention anyways?

Standing up and dusting the sand away from the leggings a started jogging back towards my house, glancing back at the blue beauty one last time, promising to come back, I made my way towards home.

The sound of sweet laughter of the old couples filled the road making me smile.

I slowly turned the doorknob and entered my silent house.

‘’I never understood your obsession with the sea’’ a voice suddenly said, making me flinch and jump in horror.

‘’you scared me’’ I said when I saw it was only baby mum, placing my hands over my erratic heart which was pounding loudly.

‘’I would think so’’ she said with a slight smile

‘’it gives me peace’’ I said answering her previous question.

‘’Hmm,’’ she replied and continued, ‘’ do you want some Americano? I am going to the store to grab some eggs, would bring that along.’’

‘’yeah sure, till then I would just shower’’ I replied, she nodded and made her way towards the door.

I showered and saw that the tiny figure lying in my bed was not there anymore, which means baby mum woke her up. I made my way downstairs towards the kitchen. My eyes widened at the scene in front of me.

‘’well, if this is not a scene to see’’ I chirped and ruffled Pete’s hair, who was flipping pancakes.

‘’shut up!’’ he groaned and baby mum laughed.

‘’What did he do, to do this?’’ I asked Baby mum, pointing at Pete.

‘’he broke my favorite vase with his soccer ball’’ she replied

‘’it was a football’’ he muttered

‘’’Same thing,’’ she deadpanned and rolled her eyes

‘’it’s not and it was a mistake’’

‘’exactly! And to cover up that mistake, you do this, whatever you are doing right now’’ she said with a glare and he just sighed. I try to suppress a laugh but couldn’t. This made Pete shoot murderous glares at me.

‘’Okay I am sitting on the table’’ I said raising my hands, I turned around to leave but stopped in my tracks and added turning my head in his direction, ‘’and Pete’’ he looked up, ‘’ make sure the food is edible’’ I said with a smirk. Repeating what he told me when I was cooking breakfast, while baby mum was out of town.

‘’Fuck off’’ he muttered and got a smack on his shoulder.

‘’Oww! That hurt like a bitch baby mum!’’ he groaned and she smacked him again.

‘’fuck! What’s wrong with you!’’ he shouted

‘’Language!’’ she said with a glare smacking him again.

‘’Fuc-uomcood’’ he recovered groaning. Shaking my head with a smile I sat on the table, scrolling through my phone when an idea popped in my head. I slowly walked back towards the kitchen, so that, Pete doesn’t notice me and clicked a picture of him. I sent the picture to mum and thought of posting the picture later on Instagram.

While I was on my phone I heard giggles and saw that Lin was giggling looking at Pete, she sat beside me. She opened her mouth to say something but stopped as my phone started ringing, caller id was Mu.

‘’Hey momma’’ I chirped

‘’Hey baby, wait whatever I saw, was that what I saw?’’ she asked in an astonished voice.

‘’Yep’’ I replied with a grin

‘’what did he do?’’ she asked with a laugh.

‘’He broke Baby mum’s favorite vase, by hitting it with a football’’

‘’serves him right’’ she giggled.

‘’Yeah,’’ I replied grinning. Suddenly the line goes silent, I thought the call got disconnected but after I checked I saw the call was still going on.

‘’Mum’’ no reply

‘’Hello?’’ no reply

‘’Ma can you hear me?’’ no reply

‘’Ma?” there were some shuffling

‘’Baby’’ she exhaled deeply

‘’ ma, are you fine?’’ I asked, my voice laced with concern

‘’yeah’’ again exhaled loudly

‘’what’s wrong?’’

‘’Nothing, I was just chasing a mouse that’s why I am breathing heavily, it's fine, I took care of it’’ she replied and I relaxed

‘’Oh, try to get some mice poisoning then, don’t run around like that, start jogging or exercising, it will increase your stamina. See, just running in the house behind a mouse is making you pant like you ran a marathon, your stamina is very low ma’’

‘’yeah will do ma’’ I rolled my eyes ‘’okay, I gotta go you take care of Pete and Lin. Yeah and stay safe. I love you! You are my love, my braves child, my warrior, my Sun, my moon, my life, my everything’’ she replied softly but continued, ‘’tell Lin and Pete I love them and Mary that, I would forever be grateful to her’’ she replied softly. Something was not right. But I couldn’t point it out.

‘’Mum’’ I called softly

‘’Okay bye, love you’’ she croaked and hung up.

I stared at the phone furrowing my eyebrows, concerned.

‘’what did she say?’’ Lin asked, bringing me out of my thoughts.

‘’That she loves all of us and she misses us’’ I replied with a smile.

‘’I miss her too’’ she replied softly.

‘’well, then let's visit her this weekend?’’ I asked raising my eyebrows

‘’Really?’’ she asked with a wide smile.

‘’Yes.’’
