Kaiden wrapped his arms around her as he pulled her tightly against his chest while he buried his face in the crook of her neck. It didn't even take Emily a second to realize that he was crying too but his pain was not only for losing Elisa, it was also for all three of them.
"Kaiden... I'm sorry." She found herself apologizing as she wrapped her arms around his waist and clutched on tightly, afraid to lose him if she let go.
The man softly brushed his hand over her head as he replied, "I don't blame you, Angel, because I know you. If you have known that she was a good person, you would have never ignored her. But you were just a scared child and none of what happened was your fault. Besides..."
This time he pulled away from the hug to look into her eyes as his palms cupped her face. "... it was Elisa's decision to help you, and she knew the consequences too well. You don't have to blame yourself for something that you never did."
