Chapter 20 - The Fact She Doesn't Know

"Remember, don't mess around. I'll be here tomorrow to see you," Zen said after he stopped his car in front of Weiske's home.

"Yeah, OK. I'm going to ..."

"Wait!" Zen grabbed Daisy's hand when Daisy was about to come out. Daisy turned to Zen and silently watched her hand being touched by Zen.

Again without Daisy's permission, Zen grabbed Daisy's face and kissed her lips. This time more gently but with the affirmation that she belongs to Zen alone. "You may come out," Zen said then. Daisy finally got out of the car with a bad feeling. She even touched her lips when she was about to enter her home.

"Really?! Something's blooming!" Weiske's voice took Daisy by surprise. She then put her hands and put on a normal face so as not to be too visible.

"What is it, Mom? How come you haven't slept yet?"

"I saw what you were doing in the car," Weiske whispered teasingly.

"Mom!" Daisy exclaimed widening her eyes. They laughed and spent some time chatting.

Zen took off his coat and stared at the balcony in disbelief. He suddenly felt sad for some unknown reason. Loneliness overtook him. Even though he had just spoken casually about loneliness and solitude.

Now Zen can't sleep. Until finally he worked as hard as possible to finish what he needed to get done. But suddenly his mind popped the name, Devan. His presence made him quite crazy for fear of experiencing the same incident.

Devan ... would do anything for the woman he likes. Like Kanya, his ex-girlfriend.

Zen hastily eliminated the incident and also Devan. Focus on the work he brings to the apartment and after that try to sleep without Daisy's presence in his apartment.

A knock on Daisy's door forced her to move from her creaking bed. She even cursed Zen in his heart for coming early and disturbing her who was relaxing.

Daisy opened it with an indifferent face and she was surprised by the arrival of someone she never expected.

Devan.

"Morning, Daisy ..." said Devan in a friendly voice.

"Err ... morning. You-"

"Know your address?" asked Devan cut her voice. Daisy nodded hesitantly and she felt terrible, imagining that Zen knew who had visited her house.

"Mind if you and I go out for a bit? While it's still early?" asked Devan before answering her question.

Daisy considered Devan's invitation. She didn't see her Mom, meaning she was safe. Zen's men are also absent, meaning double safe. But Daisy can't guarantee that she'll be fine when it comes to Zen.

"It's safe, Daisy ... Zen won't scold you or even know us," Devan said as if he knew what Daisy was thinking.

Finally, Daisy complied and came out with Devan like a sneak. Daisy followed Devan's car with a feeling of wonder. What does Devan want to do and why? Until they stopped at the city park and went down to find a bench. Devan also bought some snacks and small drinks to enjoy while chatting.

"Devan, I'm sorry, I can't ... can't take long. I'm afraid that Zen will come earlier. I don't want to have a fight," Daisy said honestly.

"Don't worry. It's only going to be a while, really."

"What's the matter, Devan?"

Devan noticed Daisy's face. He smiled slightly and sighed. "Apparently you are afraid of Zen," said Devan.

Instead of answering, Daisy was busy looking at Devan seriously. Waiting for Devan's intentions. "And you're starting to be careful with me now. Did Zen say that I'm his Dad's stepchild?"

Only silence that Devan got from Daisy. He finally began to speak more seriously, just as Daisy had been waiting for.

"Daisy ... did you know that Zen has a ... son?" he asked. This time Devan's question took Daisy by surprise. The expression on her silent face was one of shock. SHe just shook her head slowly.

"You can ask him directly. I just want to make him honest. What's the point, a relationship is built with lies in it? And I'm his past ... but well, everyone makes mistakes and realizes it. So you can ask him to explain. This ... my business card. If you need, I'm always there," Devan explained with one explanation that made Daisy not ask again. Daisy even just accepted the business card and didn't say anything else.

After meeting Devan, Daisy made up her mind. She just found out Zen's lie. Even he knew from other people, not from Zen's own mouth. Now she doesn't know what she should do. But Daisy felt stupid being the only one who didn't understand anything at all.

By late afternoon, Zen came in casual clothes. His face lit up when he saw Daisy. Unfortunately, Daisy tried to hold back the question she wanted to ask Zen. But Daisy found it difficult when she had to hold back the feeling of wanting to ask. She doesn't know why it hurts so much to be lied to by Zen.

On the way to the apartment, Daisy was silent. Completely silent and didn't say a word. Made Zen wonder what had happened to Daisy since Zen wasn't by his side.

"Let's go to the supermarket first, OK. Buy groceries and goods that run out," said Zen trying to find a conversation.

"OK," was Daisy's only answer.

"You want to tell me what are you thinking now?" Zen asked.

"No. It doesn't matter. Sorry," Daisy replied. For some reason, she suddenly felt guilty for Zen. Though it should be Daisy who should be angry over the lie that Zen had done behind her back.

"Why should you apologize?"

"For being nonchalant. Sorry."

Zen was silent. Of course, Daisy's attitude made him wonder. Because Daisy is not like usual. Unfortunately, Zen didn't leave his men at Daisy's all night or turn on the sound tap.

"If I'm wrong, tell me," Zen said.

Daisy was silent. She didn't even have the heart to say Zen's fault. Letting her hurt him, but if she asked, Zen would ask him where she heard from. Daisy didn't want any fights. Moreover, Devan is the son of Zen's father even though the only stepchild. There was no way Daisy would make him more divided.

"No. Nothing, Zen. I ... just want ice cream, that's all. I'm thinking about ice cream because I haven't eaten in a long time," Daisy said later.

Zen only raised one eyebrow. It feels weird, Zen thought. But he also didn't want to ask any further. Zen would let it be until Daisy really wanted to tell him.

"OK. Ice cream. Weird," Zen said.

"What's so strange?"

"Maybe you don't want to talk right now. It's OK, Daisy. Sooner or later I'll find out what you're thinking."

"Zen ... I just wanted ice cream. That's all."

Zen just shrugged his shoulders looking for an end to their conversation because they had arrived at the supermarket. Because Zen also does not want to extend it if it is not yet time.
