With training finally completed for the students, departure day was now one day away.
Stacy Williams left the night before 'departure day.'
Mr. Benjamin walked her out to her Jeep and then thanked her for the equipment as well as the assistance she had given them over the course of the thirty days, without question.
"I better not hear about you guys on the news," she said in a dry humor tone as she gave him a friendly kiss goodbye.
After saying their goodbyes, she drove away into the night.
The afternoon the next day, everyone dressed in their camouflaged gear that was left for them by Stacy, as well as the boots to match.
Mr. Benjamin picked up one of the combat knives and placed it in one of the knife pockets of his jacket.
When he looked around the room, he watch all the students as a proud parent would even though it felt like they were about to do something very illegal.
Picking up a small box from on a nearby table, he opened it revealing black solar powered watches which would allow them to keep track of time without having to actually charge the batteries. He handed one of the watches to each of the students.
After handing them out, Mr. Benjamin said, everyone huddle up. When they were all together, he asked for them to hold hands which was a bit awkward for some however they realized what was about to happen as Mr. Benjamin began to speak.
"Heavenly Father, as we are about to undertake this journey, I pray thee that you ordain our steps towards success and watch over us that we may successfully complete this mission and protect all those people that reside in our world. I pray thee in Jesus name, Amen."
We all set, Mr. Benjamin asked them as he picked up a small backpack from the ground?
I believe so, answered Luke as he looked at everyone else who nodded in agreement.
"Lets be on our way then," muttered Mr. Benjamin.
Parking the vehicle in the same place that he had before, everyone disembark at the Uthina Amphitheater replica however they crossed the road and made their way around the right side of the historical monument.
The time was now ten pm and the Blue Perigean Moon was nowhere to be seen as the sky was extremely cloudy tonight.
Using a hand held torchlight, Mr. Benjamin led his students as the others followed to the fencing that had encircled the Uthina Amphitheater replica. When all had entered, Luke placed the links of the fence back in place, covering the opening so it would not seem like it had been cut.
They all make their way to the center of the replica to try and find the gateway. Trying not to use the flash light as much they scurried around looking for a gateway that might have opened up but none could be found.
Standing next to the statue, Luke spoke to Mr. Benjamin confirming what was told to them before.
"The statue would point the way!"
Yes, responded Mr. Benjamin however the statue was pointing to the center of the Amphitheater but nothing was present or happening there. It was the same as the night they were here, thought Mr. Benjamin.
Greg quietly climbed to the top of the monument and looked over to see the guard sitting at the booth with television noises coming from it. He was engrossed in the TV show that he was currently watching.
Suddenly Luke had an idea. Calling everyone together he decided to relay his idea to the group. The payment was a coin per person, right?
Yes. We are following you answered Mr. Benjamin.
The bowl here, Luke stated as the moonlight began to peak through the clouds and shine down on them.
Luke asked Mr. Benjamin for the bag of coins. When he received it, he placed one by one in the bowl until all five were in it.
Then right before their eyes, under the light of the moon, the coins began melting and like liquid blood of gold, it oozed out of the bowl and into the statue. Absorbed, it began moving all the way up the statue, then down to the tip of his sword.
The gold on the tip of the sword, projected a golden light when hit with moonlight, to the center of the Amphitheater which began to rip open a fabric in reality thus opening a doorway.
'Gold and black light began fusing together making the doorway larger until a large door like frame was created.'
Now the doorway was large enough for a grown individual to pass through.
Reaching into the small backpack, Mr. Benjamin began to hand each individual a Daffodil flower until everyone had one in their hands. Then they all proceeded down the stairs towards the large gateway that stood before them.
'As a girl coming down the steps to meet her date for the prom, no one had a clue what would happen for the remainder of that night, as they were about to walk through the gateway.'
Luke, stated that he would enter first to ensure that it was safe for everyone. Luke walked through and disappeared in the mixture of light that resided in the center of the gateway.
After a few minutes, there was no indication from Luke to say, if it was safe so Greg went through and then Melinda, Mr. Benjamin and then Fiora. A vibrant display of colors passed them as their bodies moved on its own through time and space.
Luke stood on the other side of the gateway in an dilapidated ruin in the clearing of a forested area.
The large blue moon basked high in the sky providing moonlight to give them a lighted view of their surroundings, if only for a limited period as dark gray clouds where seen approaching from a distance...
'One way gateway,' he chuckled, at the others when they came through. So I was unable to walk back through he lamented, plus he opened his hand to reveal the decayed flower that sat in his palm.
Everyone else looked at their flower which had not survived the journey.
At least we are here, uttered Fiora.
Wherever here is, Melinda added.
Mr. Benjamin stooped down to examine the bricked roadway that led to the ruins where they were.
At the same moment, Luke stood before the gateway, realizing that it was suddenly getting smaller and smaller until it disappeared right before them.
Interesting muttered Mr. Benjamin.
What is it, asked Fiora?
They do not make roadways like this anymore. My dear students, I do believe that we have indeed travelled through time.
An unruffled look was on the face of all of his students leading him to realize that he was the only one who had doubts that they were actually going to go back in time.
The cloak individual, the knights reference, Fiora responded?
How could you think otherwise, Greg questioned as he passed Mr. Benjamin and began to follow the roadway.
Mr. Benjamin who was slightly in dismay spoke up and said as the others began following Greg, would it help if I said that I believe we are somewhere between the thirteenth to sixteenth century?
The slight sound of acceptance was muttered from the lips of his students as they continued walking forward with Mr. Benjamin jogging to catch up to them.
In the distance, a stroke of light flash in the dark clouds as they began getting closer.
