Time off

Thanks to the owner of the crappie motel we had bin able to find the cabin that John's uncle owned.

On our way there we had brought supplies for an entire week.

Lucifer had insisted on buying a tone of marshmallows because according to him when you go camping you need them. Even though John and me tried to explain that staying at a cabin is not the same as camping but Lu completely ignored us.

When we finally arrived I was surprised on how spacious and nice it was.

It definitely had more of a summer holiday home vibe than the creepy cabin vibe I had expected.

After putting away the groceries and settling in we set down on the dining table.

"So what do you want to do?" John asked with a big smile.

I sighed and rubbed my neck.

"I don't really want to do anything to be honest."

"We could go swimming in the lake."

"No that's boring. I want to start a campfire!" Lu announced.

John shock his head and said "It's the middle of the day. We don't need fire right now."

"Oh please. It's never to early for some arson."

With that they started bickering about what we should do. John wanted to do activities that involve being physically active and Lu wanted to do stuff that was potentially dangerous like burning stuff or hunting.

I started to zone out at one point and just ignored them.

While they still argued I stood up and walked out onto the back porch.

The midday sun was shining and the air smelled like forest. It was so relaxing.

I set down against the wooden house wall and closed my eyes.

The singing of birds and the wind in the trees were so calming that I drifted of in to sleep.

It was probably four hours later when I woke up again. A blanket had bin placed over my legs.

I rubbed my eyes and stretched my arms. In the distend I could hear someone shopping wood.

"Oh hey. You are finally awake."

I heard someone say a few steps away.

When I turned around I saw John standing there with a pack of sausages and a bag of marshmallows in his hands.

When he noticed my confused look he said "Lu and me decided to grill some hotdogs over a fire. Could you get the rest of the stuff while I keep Lu from burning down the forest?"

I nodded and stood up.

After getting everything I went back outside.

The fire was already lit and the other two were sitting around it on big logs.

John was occupied with putting a few more sticks in the campfire and Lu was carving some other sticks into what looked like a sorry excuse for a spears.

"Are you still planning on hunting our dinner?" I asked with a raised eyebrow.

"No. It's for my marshmallows." He replied with a grin.

"Our marshmallows." John corrected him.

"What made you think I would share MY marshmallows?"

"You brought six bags. I'm pretty sure we can share."

Lu made a disgusted face and then hissed. "You are one of THOSE!"

"Those?" John asked confused.

"You are a communist!" Lu snarled.

"What?! No! I just think that sharing is carrying."

"Yeah sure Marx." Lu said while rolling his eyes.

I could contain my laughter any more and started laughing so hard that tires were rolling down my face.

There arguing was sometimes really annoying and stressful to deal with but other times it was just downright hilarious how they managed to bud heads over the most stupidest things.

When I stopped laughing I noticed that both of them were starring at me whit a smil on there faces.

None of them said anything but it was still clear that they were happy that they made me laugh.

After that we just ate, drunk a few beers and even started singing some stupid pop songs John had on his phone.

Later when I went to bed I thought to myself this is definitely what I needed.
