Onicent Abandon

Onicent stood stiffly with Amos at his side. Dauntice had come storming into the room.

"Don't ever let your son touch my daughter again!" He screamed. Farren stood slightly behind him gripping onto their son, and Sonnis stood expressionless.

Airabella gripped onto her throne behind Onicent, Feia was at her feet, as always.

Onicent spoke slowly and carefully, "my son is in charge of himself."

Dauntice fumed, "then I expect you as the leader to respect the wishes of all of us," he motioned to his family and Serse, as well as Alora's empty throne.

Amos looked slightly smug as he eyed Sonnis. But she kept her head held high, she refused to drop her icy gaze.

Onicent set his expression into a cold look.

"We're leaving then!" Dauntice said. He turned abruptly and walked out, Farren cast Onicent a long and imploring gaze. But alas she was not a part of the decisions. She walked quietly out with her son. Sonnis turned on her heel and left.

"I love you too!" Amos taunted her receding back.

"I have things to attend to," Serse said quietly, and then she was gone.

Amos, Airabella, Feia and Onicent were left. When Onicent turned on Feia, she shrunk under his glare. Airabella gave Onicent an angry look, wrapped Feia into her arms, and then left. Onicent listened to her receding footsteps.

"My son, you must be more cautious." Onicent said at last.

"She's lying, I never touched her." Amos fumed, the anger pulsing off him was intense.

Onicent tilted his head slightly. "I believe you my son." Then he shook his head. "She is trouble for us, I suggest you leave her be."

"No," Amos said.

Onicent got a sharper look, "no?"

"NO!" Amos said.

Onicent went from passive to furious in a few seconds, "YOU WILL OBEY ME."

"NO I WON'T."

"Then you will leave here!" Onicent raged.

"I will." Amos turned and marched out of the room and into the night.

Onicent watched silently. Then he sulked to his room. Airabella and himself had the nicest room in the castle. It was front and centre, with a massive balcony. The bed was flowing and delicate, Airabella always lay on the very edge. Onicent took the middle. He wished she'd come closer. When he got to the room, Airabella was on the balcony, she had her hands clenched on the railing. Onicent sidled up to her. Placing an arm around her. But she shrugged him off.

"I saw Amos," she whispered, "he left. I called to him. But he left." She sounded slightly choked.

"Never mind, come to bed." Onicent soothed, he didn't want her to know what had happened. But she turned her back on him.

He knew somehow she knew the truth.

"Airabella-"

But she cut him off. She started to scream at him. She screamed, and he fumed back.

At last he got tired of her. He grabbed her by the shoulders and shook her hard. She stopped screaming at him and slumped forward.

A prickle of shame ran through Onicent's mind. He carried her over to the bed and put her closer to the middle. Then he got in himself.
