I looked at myself one last time before there was a knock on my door. When the door opened I saw Elena's head pop in.
"Brian and Stefan are waiting." she said. I nodded and looked back at the mirror, "You look fine." she said walking up to me and looking at me through the mirror.
"Do you think I look like her?" I ask. Elena gives me a small smiles.
"You look a lot like her and me." she said with a big smile which made me smile.
We left my room and went down the stairs where I saw Brian standing next to Stefan looking at me, a smile came upon Brian's face when he saw me.
"You look beautiful." Brian said. I gave a small smile and blushed.
"Shall we go then?" Stefan asked once Elena and I got down the stairs.
"We shall." I say. We exit the house and get into a car as we make our way to the Founders Party.
We finally get to the Lockwood's once I realize everything that Tyler said to me about telling Brian about our summer without him, I don't know what I'm going to do, but I will figure something out.
"Hey, Mayor Lockwood." Elena says greeting her.
"Hey guys, come on in and enjoy the party."
"Thank you." Stefan says. We make it in the house and look around at all the people that were here.
"I'll get us some drinks." Brian said whispering in my ear. I give him and smile with a nod and I start to walk around when I find my eyes on Damon. He was staring at me, but I turn my head and follow Stefan and Elena as if I never saw him. Stefan and Elena went into the study so that's where I went.
"There's a lot of history here." Elena said sadly, "The Founding Families of Mystic Falls welcome you to the annual council celebration." Elena reads.
"It's the original guest registry." I say. Stefan looks over at me in concern, "Look at the familiar names, Sheriff William Forbes, Mayor Benjamin Lockwood and is that Damon Salvatore?" I ask looking at Elena, "And Stefan Salvatore?"
"The original Salvatore brothers." says a familiar voice from behind, I turn around and see Damon standing there.
"Our ancestors. Tragic story actually." Damon says with a smirk.
"We don't need to bore them with stories of the past, Damon." Stefan says.
"It's not boring Stefan, I would love to hear more about the Salvatore family." Elena says with a smile. Damon gave a small smile then looked at me. I had my arms crossed as I looked at Damon.
"I have to go find Brian." I say making my way towards the door.
"I'm sure Sophie wouldn't mind if you danced with her, Stefan." Damon said. I turned around and glared at Damon, "Unless if you want to hear the story."
I looked over at Stefan and he looked at me as if he had a choice. I didn't want to be rude, but I also didn't want to be near Damon at the moment. I look at Elena before I walk out of the room with Stefan.
"We don't have to dance if you don't want to." I say looking at Stefan. He stops slightly in front of me and holds out his hand, "Are you sure?" I ask.
"Why not? I think Damon is keeping Elena company, nothing I can do about it now." he says leading me towards the dance floor.
"You don't have to let him treat you like that." I say as we get in a formal dance position.
"What do you mean?" he asks.
"I know when a sibling is ruining the other's life. I love you and Elena together, you make her happy and I don't want that ruined." I say.
"I appreciate that." he says.
"Well you two deserve each other." I smile up at him.
"You deserve Brian too." he says. I look down as my smile fades and Stefan spins me, when he pulls me back in he dips me and pulls me back up.
"May I?" I turn around and see Brian standing there wanting to dance with me. Stefan nods letting go of my hand as I start dancing with Brian, "May I ask you something?" he asked, I leaned my head into his chest and nodded.
"When you wanted to have sex with me, did you do it out of love or to save our relationship?" he asked.
"Both." I say. It went back to silence again, it was almost the end of the song when Brian said something again.
"Did you want to have sex with me because you felt guilty about having sex with Tyler?" I sighed to myself and looked up at Brian.
"We never had sex. Tyler is exaggerating it too much." I say.
"Well tell me something. Tell me it didn't mean anything to you. Tell me that you don't think about what you did when you look at him." he said in a disappointed way. I said nothing, all of those things that he said we're true.
"Can't we finish this dance?"
Is all I can say. Brian had a sad look in his eyes, it was almost like he was going to cry but he looked up and we finished the dance. When the dance was over I looked up at Brian.
"I'm so sorry." I say.
I then walk away and back to the bar and grab a glass of champagne and downed it. I get myself another when Damon joined me.
"You okay?" he asked. I ignored him and stared at the people dancing, "You know I was surprised that you didn't want to hear the history of the Salvatore brothers, it's very old fashioned." Damon says. I stop staring at the crowd and look at Damon.
"I'm not in the mood to talk." I say drinking the rest of the champagne and getting up to leave, but Damon followed me and stood in front of me.
"I know I was acting like a jerk at that football game, but give a second chance to explain everything to you as soon as I can." he said.
"I told you that I don't want to be apart of you and Stefan's business, so let's keep it that way."
I brushed past him to see Elena with a worried look on her face, she looked beside me and saw Damon then her eyes turned angry. She grabbed my arm and pulled me away from Damon, thank God, but why?
"What's wrong?" I ask when we get outside the house.
"Damon is hurting Caroline. There were bruises all over her." she told me.
"He wouldn't." I say shaking my head.
"Listen, for your safety. I don't want you to hang around him anymore." she said, "Promise me." it took me a second before I could give her my answer.
"I promise." I say in a whisper.
That was the last talk I had with Damon and I think there was just a relief that left my body.
