Later that day I go to Caroline's party at the grill just in a casual t-shirt and jeans. When I walk in music is playing and people are talking and having drinks, people are having fun for the first time in a while.
"Hey you came!" Caroline says walking up to me, before I could say anything else she interrupted me, "Have you seen Bonnie, I really need to talk to her." Caroline looks around.
"No, sorry." I say. Caroline grumbles to herself before she walks away, "Good to see you too." I whisper to myself. I walk over to the bar and see the girl I saw at Stefan's house, Lexi.
"You really remind me of someone." she says looking over at me.
"I don't really know who you are, all I know is that you were in Stefan's house in a towel." I say. Lexi smiles and takes a drink of her drink.
"Are you Elena? Stefan has told me how much he really likes you." she says. I give a laugh.
"No, but I'm Sophie. Elena's friend/sister." I say holding out my hand, she shook it with a smile, "How do you know Stefan?" I asked.
"We have been friends for 100 years." she gasped after realizing what she said.
"It's okay I know." I say taking a sip of my Coke.
"He told you?" she asked. I quickly shook my head.
"Damon did, in kind of a weird way." I say remembering how he told me.
"Don't get involved with him." Lexi warns.
"I know, he's not the human type of person. He's more of a 'let's mess around' type of person and a lot ruder." I say joking around.
"I like you." she says. We both break into laughter.
"What's the chatter about?" asked a familiar voice. I turn around and see Damon.
"Nothing of your interest." I say looking away.
"Listen I know you have a problem with me for killing Vicki, but I seriously didn't mean to." he says walking closer to me.
"Go away, Damon. I'm not interested in talking about this." I say. Damon looked at me with his glossy, blue eyes before he looked over at Lexi then walked away.
"Damn, you really know how to tell him." Lexi says. I smile at her, "Can I ask you a question?" she asked. I nodded while taking a drink, "Why did you call Elena you friend/sister?"
"It's a long story." I say.
"How about this? When I die, which probably won't ever happen, and when you die, in the afterlife you can tell me." she offers.
"Deal." I say. Lexi looks away from me and notices that Stefan walked in.
"Will you excuse me." she says getting out of her seat. I nod and I'm left alone at the bar. All of a sudden someone sat next to me, I looked over and saw Brian.
"You never told me." he said ordering a shot after he said that.
"I've been busy, I'm sorry." I say. We were silent for a second, I guess he was waiting for an answer, "Why do you want to get back together with me? I mean you looked pretty upset with what Tyler said to you." I say.
"It's the only thing I can think about. I can't live my life without you." he says.
"What did you do after the Founder's party?" I ask still looking at my glass. Brian was silent that's when I looked at him.
"I got drunk, I'm going to admit. But that's because I didn't understand why then I realized, your parents died, I wasn't there and you needed someone. I'm going to be honest, if you left, if my parents died, I would do the same. Just let me ask you this, would you still try to save whatever we have left?" he asked. Before I could answer Lexi was next to me ordering shots.
"Elena is lucky to have Stefan." she paused when she saw Brian, "Am I interrupting something?"
"No. Uh, Lexi this is Brian." I say. Brian holds out his hand and they both shake their hands. I look towards the door and see Sheriff Forbes walking toward us. I quickly took Brian's shot glass and put it behind the bar. Just as I did that she stabs a syringe in Lexi's neck, Lexi rolls her eyes back and she falls limp.
"What are you doing?" I ask getting out of my seat to get her, but Damon grabs my arm. I look at his hand then I look up at him. Sheriff Forbes then leans in to whisper into Damon's ear as if I could hear them.
"Thanks for the vervain." my eyes go wide and I look up at Damon. He gave the town vervain. I get out of his grasp and run to Stefan and Elena who were looking for a way to get to Lexi.
"Hurry, the back." I say as Stefan leads the way.
I end up running like a track runner. We then hear shots being fired which made my heart race faster, just as we get to the corner Stefan pulls me back and since he was too strong I couldn't get out of his grasp. I peak my head around the corner to see Damon stab Lexi in the heart with a stake. I gasp but Stefan puts his hand over my mouth to hush me, how the hell can Damon just stab her like that? I watch as Damon asks if the Sheriff is okay then lifts Lexi's body and tosses her in the trunk. Tears were forming in my eyes as Stefan stumbles off in grief, Elena went after him.
Instead of going after Elena and Stefan I walked home, but instead of going home I went by Brian's house, I don't know why I didn't go to comfort Stefan with Elena, but I felt like I had to do this. I slowly walked up to his porch and knocked on the door. A few seconds later Brian answered the door with a confused look on his face.
"Soph?" he asked. I was looking at my hands while I played with them.
"Sorry for walking out on you like that." I say.
"It's fine, is Lexi okay?" he asked. I shrugged still not looking at him.
"I don't know why I'm here, I'm sorry to bother you." I lied I knew exactly why I was there.
"Wait." I turn around and Brian walks out of his house and up to me.
"I don't know." I blurt out.
"Wait, talk to me. What's up?" Brian asks trying to calm me down.
"I don't think I can get back together with you." I say. Brian looks at me as if I just told him that his mom died, "There's just so much that's going on and I promised someone I wouldn't tell and it's all hard to explain."
"Does this have to do with Damon or Stefan Salvatore?" Brian asks.
"No, absolutely not." I lie, "I'm just not ready to start our relationship back to where it was." I turn around and walk away from his house feeling terrible.
Did I do the right thing? Was this to keep Brian safe?
