Chapter 19

"It is not as you think" Alice tried to explain.

The puppy is wrapped in a thick quilt, so unless it moves, no will find him.

"Don't worry, sister. Even though I failed last time, I will protect you this time" Daniel exaggerated.

"Sister, just close your eyes. We will take of it" Stella said.

"I am no longer scared of dogs" Alice shouted at the top of her voice to shut those two up.

"What? You aren't?" Daniel asked.

"Actually, I don't remember to be scared of dogs. Was I really timid in the past?" Alice asked nervously.

"No. You were always brave. You were just a tiny bit scared. Don't worry. It is good you aren't" Daniel lied.

Stella giggled how hesitantly covered up the truth. She remembered her sister would shout whenever she found any animal near her and would start jumping around like some insane lady.

"Then that barking sound?" Stella asked.

"Ah…that. I saved a puppy yesterday. He is not harmful as he is only few days old" Alice tried to reduce their guard.

She signaled the guards to leave. They looked at each other, then bowed and left the room.

"Where is it, sister?" Stella asked.

"I will tell but first tell Danny to put his sword down. He looks scary" Alice suggested.

Daniel immediately put his wooden sword on the table beside. Alice pointed at the chair with purple cushion. There was a red quilt upon it that looked mounted as if something was stacked into it. Daniel and Stella walked towards slowly.

As they touched it, a cute face and cheerful black eyes came out of the quilt. Both looked at the puppy, shocked. Looking at their stupefied face, Alice wondered whether they had ever seen a dog. It barked at them as if welcoming them.

"So cute" Stella said with sparkling eyes and blushing face.

"Yes" Daniel nodded with her as he looked at the puppy curiously.

Stella gently patted its head. Its soft white fur brushed gently on her palms. Daniel rubbed his hand on his stomach and felt good for some reasons, which makes him excited. The puppy looked at them curiously, the two blonde heads staring at him.

Daniel immediately picked up the puppy and put it in his arms. It was not heavy and it was soft. He carefully held the puppy, so it won't strain his injured foot.

"Hey give it to me" Stella said.

"What? Why should I?" Daniel said.

"Because I am your younger sister."

"You are not capable of holding. It is such a delicate creature; I fear you will crush it."

"What?"

"Sister" Daniel turned towards Alice, "Can I play with it?"

Alice nodded. And gave them permission. Daniel left the room, carrying the delicate creature in his arms carefully. While Stella complained to let her carry it.

She silently giggled after her younger siblings left the room, feeling happy that they were behaving like children with the mentality of nine-year-olds.
