Chapter 3. A Contract?

What kind of sins that Arjoona Harristian has committed in his previous life so that he has to face this trivial problem? He was still in a shock phase and stood up because of his big boss's crazy idea. Arjoona had stopped his breath for a moment, but he has to pull oxygen back into his lungs. He shook his head while blinking several times. Ah, maybe this is just a dream, Joona frowned. 'No it isn't...!' he shouted in his head.

"What do you mean by talking like that!" Arjoona was still in offensive mode, and it made Gerald shake his head with a smile.

"Take a sit first dan relax, Arjoona, you don't need to yell like that," said Gerald trying to calm Joona.

"You just got me a heart attack, Sir! You asked me to marry your granddaughter, what do you mean by that?" asked Arjoona was still in a high tone. Gerald let out a heavy sigh and told Joona to sit down once more.

"Joona, you already 28 years old this year, aren't you? So, what's wrong by getting married now?" Arjoona grunted and looked away.

"So now you plan for me to get married?" Gerald shook his head.

"Naah, Joona, don't be too serious, this is just a marriage contract." Arjoona was even more shocked and grimaced. Wait. What does all this mean?

"I don't get it at all," said Arjoona with his eyeballs almost pop out.

"Well, you have to marry Claire only for two years, after that you can get divorced. But before that, you and Claire will sign a prenuptial contract that regulates everything about your marriage. After the divorce you can get 50 percent of Winthrop motors shares." Arjoona is still stupified. He got his tongue-tied.

"So, You mean... I mean you sold me to your granddaughter?" Gerald straightly patted his forehead.

"No Joona, I would never sold you, I offered you a marriage contract."

"And why is me?"

"Because you're the only one I believe to take care of my Claire." Joona's two hands quickly gave a sign of rejection, then he shook his head.

"Tell me honestly what do you want sir?" Now Joona is getting firm. Actually, he had been bitter since earlier.

"I want to make Claire as the only heir to Winthrop Corporation. The problem now is that my daughter in law, Isabel is married to a man who I think is going to steal everything from Claire, That man is trying to take Claire's place as CEO of Winthrop and he can do that anytime if she's not proficient. He can do anything including wrecking my granddaughter." Gerald began to tell his story. Arjoona was still listening without responding to anything.

"Claire must have someone watching and protecting her. I think 2 years is enough for a man to protect her from a very close reach, until that I can convince the whole Winthrop family to support me in concidering Claire to be the top leader of Winthrop Corp." He added again.

"And that's only can be done through those marriage contract?" asked Arjoona

"Yes, but if you want to marry her legally, I don't mind either." Arjoona frowned.

"Hold on... you mean the contract is an illegal marriage?"

"No, the marriage still has the same legal. You gonna have some elegal papers and everything. it's just that you have to divorce after two years." Arjoona sighed, holding his forehead, and still shook his head.

"Sorry sir, I think this is the craziest idea, I can't do it." Gerald tries to hold Arjoona again. He hasn't given up yet.

"Arjoona, I beg you, I only can trust you to protect Claire." Arjoona still shook his head in the same rejection.

"I can't marry to someone I don't know, after all I don't love her."

"It's only for two years."

"Still, two years is long, sir." Joona shouted back while Gerald took a deep breath. He didn't really want to take out his last weapon. He wanted Arjoona to do it without constraint.

"Arjoona please re think, you have two days to decide. Take your time!" Arjoona is still shaking his head

"Claire will come in two days, after that we'll discuss again." Arjoona grunted irritably. Now he had a new problem to think about.

"For now you may go and continue your work." Arjoona did not want to say anything more and got up from his seat. He didn't even want to say goodbye to his boss as usual and promptly opened the door. Gerald, who saw it, could only smile faintly and shook his head.

"Ah Arjoona, I have to atone for a lot of my heir's sins to you, Son," Gerald muttered as he sighed heavily and started reading the documents he had left before.

Exiting the CEO's room, Arjoona returned to his office and was about to continue his work. But his attention began to split. He reacted with an unpleasant face. David, who entered the room, had noticed the change in Joona's attitude, which few times hid his face with his long fingers.

"What your handsome face is so gloomy?" David asked while bringing his inspection report to Joona. Joona, who realized David entered, groaned heavily and shook his head

"Nothing, I'm just tired." David nodded.

"Ah, you rarely say tired, is there a problem?" David asked anxiously. Arjoona smiled faintly and shook his head.

"Nothing, give me your report, I have to check it before lunch." David handed the report to Arjoona and shrugged while looking at the clock on the wall.

"I don't think we have time, it's already 12 o'clock... lunch time" Arjoona watched the clock.

"I don't need a long time, at mostly only half an hour." David nodded.

"Then I'll just wait here, we'll have lunch together." Arjoona nodded. David waits for him to finish checking David's report. After almost 30 minutes, Arjoona finally completed his task and asked David to have lunch outside the company canteen. Today he is less excited, so maybe by taking lunch with David, he could take his mind off what happened in his boss's office before.
