Chapter 21. Drunk

Gerald entered his house after Arjoona left. He walked to his granddaughter's room, Claire. Claire, who was half drunk and a little swaying, was seen sitting on her bed's side, covering her face. She immediately looked up when she saw her grandfather enter and stand in front of her.

"What have you done, Precious?" asked the grandfather in a low voice. Claire certainly looked down. She was embarrassed by her foolish act.

"Are you drunk?" continued Gerald again. Claire is still silent.

"Honey, you know you can get hurt when you're drunk," Gerald sat next to Claire and put his arms around her. Claire finally wrapped her arms around Gerald's waist and hugged him tightly.

"I know you don't love Arjoona, but he can protect you well. He proved it tonight." Claire buried her head even more in her grandfather's chest.

"Did he say something?" asked Claire slowly and fearfully. Gerald raised his eyebrows. He could guess what was going on because he had heard a bit of Claire and Arjoona's earlier conversation. Gerald smiled

"no, Arjoona did not complain. He is not a Snitcher," Claire immediately pouted. Arjoona had disturbed her night. More than that, in fact, in her heart, Claire felt relieved because she survived tonight. Gerald released Claire slowly and saw her face.

"You are the most valuable treasure for me, and I will do anything to protect you, you believe that, right?" Gerald asked as he moved Claire's strands of hair.

"Could we postpone the wedding? I'm not ready to marry, Grandpa?" Claire was still trying to change her grandfather's mind. Gerald chuckled at Claire's behavior.

"I know you are very young, but believe me, the sooner you marry him, the sooner I can give the whole Winthrop Corp to you," Claire grunted irritably and lowered her head. Gerald rubbed Claire's hair with a smile.

"Only two years and your marriage will hide from anyone," Claire grunted even more irritably.

"Now, clean up yourself and get rest." Gerald kissed Claire's forehead and stood about to leave the room. Claire was still sitting on the edge of her bed, thinking about what had happened to her tonight. She almost made a disastrous mistake. Nevertheless, Claire is not the type of woman who wants to have premarital sex. She still adheres to the principle to only hand over hers to the man who marries her later. The problem now that man is not Louis.

Now she was confused about what to do. Claire squeezed her hair many times and closed her eyes to think. Ideally, Arjoona would sleep with her because that man would be her future husband, but she hated him a lot. Meanwhile, the man whom Claire is falling in love had to break up with her because she was going to marry another man.

"Should I surrender myself to Lou, but why am I afraid?" muttered Claire holding her head. She finally screamed irritably and stood up to the walk-in closet. Better to take a shower than to keep dizzy.

Louis, who was upset and angry because he could not carry out his plan, finally came out of the room with a sore back and slammed the door. He came down and tried to find Claire but did not work. He also asked a few people, and all the answers were the same. No one knew. To be exact, no one cared.

With annoying steps, he left the club. He tried to call Claire but responded by voicemail.

"Aaakkh!" yelled Louis, hitting the steering wheel. He thought of Arjoona's face, who had foiled his plan. Now it will be difficult for Louis to approach Claire again. He must have been more on the defensive.

Louis was looking for a handle on other things. He called Keith, Claire's stepfather, to ask for advice.

"Uncle, my plan failed, Arjoona the head of "fucking" design division, ruined everything!" said Louis as soon as the line connected

"how come?"

"I don't know how he suddenly came in the room, even though Claire would give up a little more, but instead, he came and beat me, ah damn it!" Keith sounded snorty.

"I do not know that you can lose to men like him," Louis became even more annoyed at Keith's sarcasm.

"so you look down on me ?!" Keith even laughed.

"hahaha, Louis, you should be smarter than him,"

"then now, what should I do!"

"umm ... we talk tomorrow. We have to prepare a neat plan and not in a hurry," Louis nodded slowly.

"Okay, then tomorrow, we'll meet at the office."

"fine, see you tomorrow" the direct line was turned off by Keith, and Louis, who was still in the car, started the engine and left the club parking lot.

The next day Louis tries to intercept Claire from explaining what happened. He doesn't want to look bad by Claire. But when Claire saw Louis, she became uncomfortable and tried to avoid him.

"Baby... please listen to me!" Claire stopped after blocking her arm by Louis from behind.

"I'm sorry about last night, I was drunk, and I don't know what I was doing," Claire frowned.

"What !? You are not that drunk, Lou, but you keep on making me do that, even though I kept refusing"

"I know I was wrong."

"You remember our agreement, don't you?" asked Claire in an irritated tone.

"Yes, I know, but I love you, Baby. I don't want to lose you," Claire grunted and walked past about to pass Louis. But Louis still insisted.

"Come on, Babe, what's a matter? We both love each other, right. So it shouldn't be wrong," Claire shook her head.

"I don't want to take a wrong step, Louis."

"so you don't trust me?" asked Louis quickly. Claire was momentarily silent.

"I don't know. I doubt you can protect me," Louis snorted irritably. He immediately put his hands on his waist.

"Claire, I am your boyfriend. I surely protect you."

"but what you did last night, you almost got me" Louis finally fell silent, his eyes still begging for Claire to understand.

"I have to go in, I have a lot to do," Claire said then opened the door and was about to enter.

"Claire ... Baby ..." Claire immediately walked in and left Louis, who had to stand at the door, feeling disappointed.

Claire then sat down and clasped her hands on her forehead. She took a few breaths and wondered what to do with her relationship with Louis.

Meanwhile, Kenanga, who overheard Louis's debate in front of Claire's room, began to suspect what was going on. She had to find out what was going on.

"What is happening?" she muttered as she peeked at Louis, who was going back to his office.

"Morning, Lou," said Kenanga to Louis, who passed her in the hallway to enter her room. Louis turned and looked at Kenanga.

"Morning," he replied briefly.

"are you okay?" Louis shook his head with a short smile. Kenanga smiled sweetly.

"If you want to tell me, I will listen," Louis sighed and then massaged his forehead.

"I'm okay, Kenanga, thanks for asking me."

"yeah, anytime," Kenanga still smiled, and Louis replied.

"I'll go in." Kenanga nodded and let Louis enter the room.
