Chapter 31. My Heart Beats For You

Arjoona came out of the CEO's room with a wheezing breath and an utterly irregular heartbeat. Unconsciously, he grabbed his chest and took several deep breaths. He had never felt his heartbeat like that before. When all his adrenaline hormones rush the blood so fast, it makes Arjoona short of breath.

Joona was still half-conscious when he walked and passed Kenanga. She was about to enter the CEO's room and frowned when she saw Arjoona passing by with a confused face.

"Hi Arjoona, you just came from Claire's room, huh?" said Kenanga to Arjoona, who walked without attention. He quickly realized it and raised his face to see Kenanga. Arjoona smiled and nodded. Kenanga was initially surprised, then smiled back.

"Congratulations!" recited Kenanga with a mysterious smile.

"What for?" Arjoona asked in return. Kenanga only smiled and did not want to answer.

"See you later, Arjoona," Kenanga continued, walking past Joona, who was still dumbfounded.

'Why did she even say congratulations, for what?' questioned Arjoona thought. He just shook his head and continued walking. Arjoona was about to return to his office. He completely forgot his primary intent of confronting Claire.

Arriving at his office, Arjoona was still reflective about what he had just done. He bit his lower lips and licked them many times. That kiss was so different. It was true that Arjoona did it out of anger, but he had never really craved for kissing a woman like that before.

Arjoona closed his eyes, and the reflection of Claire didn't want to leave his mind.

"Stop Joona, it's enough!" he rebuked himself. Arjoona let out a heavy breath and threw his back against the back of the chair. It's not that Arjoona has never kissed; he is not even a virgin anymore. But this time was completely different. Ultimately, he was annoyed, and instead, he threw the ballpoint pen until it bounces off the table to the floor.

Meanwhile, Claire was sitting on the edge of her table. She's a bit shocked when Kenanga suddenly entered. Kenanga was also slightly surprised to see Claire standing while leaning her back against the corner of the table as if she had been daydreaming.

"Are you okay?" asked Kenanga, slightly suspicious. Claire quickly smiled and node her head.

"Do you need me?" Claire pulled herself together again and stood up, and walked around to her desk.

"I just need your signature on this paper," Kenanga handed her the report, and Claire checked it.

"I just saw Arjoona come out of your room, what were you two doing?" Kenanga tries to tease Claire. Claire instantly blushed and looked nervously at Kenanga. Kenanga looked at Claire with questionable eyes.

"We have discussed something." Kenanga nodded to Claire. Claire returned to read the report Kenanga gave her.

"Do you have broken up, you and Louis, haven't you?" Claire raised her face again and frowned.

"No, we didn't." Kenanga looked at with a frown but then smiled.

"But I heard you were paired with another guy, is that true?" asked Kenanga, pretending not to know. Claire let out a heavy breath, and she didn't answer Kenanga's question.

"You don't want to tell me what happened, I thought we were friends?" Kenanga pouted at Claire. Claire knew that no one should know about her marriage to Arjoona, but Kenanga was not someone else. Claire got up from her chair and walked over to Kenanga. She pulled her hand to sit on the sofa.

"Okay, I'll tell you this but should be a secret. I am telling you because you are my best friend, so I think you deserve to know," Kenanga nodded even though she already knew noticed the things.

"Arjoona and I were arranged in a marriage contract by my grandfather." Kenanga was surprised. She knew that Claire was an arranged marriage but did not realize that it was a contract marriage.

"You mean you have a time limit for the marriage?" Claire nodded

"Yes, it is only for two years until I became CEO of Winthrop Corp," Claire replied in a low voice. Kenanga nodded.

"So you say that you are now married?" Claire nodded.

"So can I congratulate you now?" added Kenanga again.

"What for?" replied Claire scowl.

"Yeah, because you are already married, with a sexy good-looking man!" teased Kenanga again. Claire frowned.

"He's annoying, now you say he's handsome!" Claire protested.

"You knew it, did you see him? Dominant and sexy!" Claire grunted and looked away. A glimpse of Arjoona's face and his full lips crossed over Claire's mind. Her cheek blushed so hard when Kenanga teased her.

Kenanga was still laughing at the shy Claire. He kept saying that Arjoona was an annoying person.

"Then why you didn't break up with Louis?" asked Kenanga after a while.

"I can't break up with him, you know I love Louis." Kenanga smiled bitterly.

"But you already married, Claire!" Kenanga is still trying. Claire was silent for a moment.

"It's only two years after that Lou and I can be together again," Kenanga frowned.

"Do Louis agreed to wait for that long?" Claire nodded. Kenanga did not respond anymore. Initially, she hoped that Claire and Louis would break up on their own because Claire was married. It turns out that they are still in a relationship. Kenanga had to try another way; she didn't want to lose Louis. Moreover, they had an affair behind Claire.

Exiting Claire's room, Kenanga looks for Louis and is about to talk to him. But it seems like Louis broke his promise to Kenanga this morning. He kept busy himself so as not to be disturbed by her.

"We have to talk Lou!" said Kenanga after successfully engaging Louis. Louis sighed heavily and showed a pile of documents he had to finish.

"Please, I have a lot of work and have to finish today," pleaded Louis looking for deceptions. Kenanga could only snort.

"But you said we would talk,"

" Yeah but not now, we are in office, Kenanga." Kenanga looked away.

"Okay, but later in the afternoon, we'll have to meet at Leen's cafe, I'll wait for you there, Lou." Louis nodded in agreement. Then Kenanga left Louis's room with a disappointed face. Louis grunted loudly and put his hands on his face. He had made a fatal mistake, and it could have terrible ends later. If Claire found out what he had been doing behind the back with her best friend, they would break up instantly.

"I can't let this problem become a barrier for me," Louis muttered to himself.
