Yu Feng's Warning

A few hours earlier, as soon as he had recovered, Officer Zhou Ming searched for General Li Mu and warned him of what was about to happen to the Emperor. The moment the General saw the token in the Officer's hand, the General knew that Officer Zhou Ming was someone that he could trust. He then sent a group of men to go with the Officer and another group to find the Crown Prince.

As for the other princes and the Emperor's consort and concubines… they will have to depend on the guards that were sent out with them.

General Li Mu had already known about the route that the Emperor was going to take to return to the palace and had informed Officer Zhou Ming about it.

However, when the Officer saw the bodies on the street and the sign of fighting, he then sent Wen Ping to scout for the area where the Emperor had gone to. It did not take Wen Ping a long time to point out that the Prince had taken a different route.

Fortunately, Officer Zhou Ming did not blindly follow after the route pointed out by the General and had trusted his instinct when he saw the sign of fighting. Or else, he would not be arriving by the Emperor's side to aid him.

The moment he arrived, Officer Zhou Ming and the rest of the soldiers quickly entered the battle and fight those assassins. He heard his name and glanced in the direction. His eyes widened in surprise upon seeing Yu Feng together with the Emperor.

One was dressed regally in his yellow robe, and another was in tattered clothing. The contrast was so striking.

With Officer Zhou Ming and the troops' aid, Qin Zhi Hao and the remaining guards swiftly eradicated the assassins. This time, none of them were instructed to be let alive.

Qin Zhi Hao then walked over to the Emperor and bowed. "Apologies for my incompetence."

The Emperor snorted before he took a few deep breaths to calm down.

Just a while ago, his heart was racing and he was frightened when he saw another wave of assassins approaching. Though he had encountered many assassins and situations where he had almost lost his life, the Emperor would still be frightened every time he encountered a situation such as this.

Although he had fought in countless battles in his younger days, the Emperor has gotten older and without regular training, he was not as quick as he was.

"Let's not talk about this matter first. We need to return to the palace as soon as possible," the Emperor said. His expression turned darker as he thought of various ways to punish those people who wanted him dead.

With that words, the Emperor turned around. His anger rose when he saw that the carriage has been broken and the horses had long run away from the scene. If they cannot find another means of transportation, he can only walk back to the palace!

While the others were focusing on the Emperor, Yu Feng kept her eyes in the sky as she waited for the next sign to arrive and validate her suspicion. When she saw the spark appeared and the white smoke disintegrated just on top of their location, her expression then changed. Knowing what will happen next, Yu Feng muttered another cursing word.

Suddenly, her surrounding became quiet and Yu Feng began to notice that every pair of eyes were directed to her. The guards and soldiers stared at her in horror as they were afraid of what was going to happen next.

The Emperor was still present and there was a little cat who was not afraid of death.

"I told you not to curse," the Emperor turned to her with a dangerous glint in his eyes. This was his first time encountering someone who would curse at every moment and he did not appreciate hearing those vulgar words.

Yu Feng stared back at everyone with a helpless gaze.

She has been living on the street and had heard everyone around her muttered cursing words wherever she goes. After a few years of mingling with the people on the street, she began to have this habit of cursing whenever she can. She cursed when she was anxious. She would curse when she was excited… Anyway, one cursing word was enough to portray any emotion she wanted to express.

However, this was not the moment for them to talk about this bad habit.

Someone had given away their location and soon, another wave of assassins was going to appear.

"There's another wave of them coming," Yu Feng spoke quickly, ignoring the stupefying look on everyone's face.

Qin Zhi Hao was among the first to snap out of his thought. He stared at Yu Feng with a dangerous look in his eyes. "How did you know?"

Yu Feng pointed at the disintegrated smoke in the sky. It was dark at night and traces of those smokes can still be seen. "I've been watching. Before the assassins find us, there will be a flare."

Qin Zhi Hao's face turned ugly in a mere second. "Officer Zhou Ming!" He turned to the officer and gave his words to investigate.

However, before the Officer could leave, Yu Feng had tugged at the man's sleeve and looked at him with a pair of anxious eyes.

"What's wrong?" He was in a hurry, but knowing that Yu Feng was the one who tipped them about the flare, Officer Zhou Ming did not dare to disregard Yu Feng's words.

"The watchtower," Yu Feng said as she released her grip on the Officer's sleeve. "The flare came from the watchtower!"

Yu Feng's warning turned everyone's face ugly.

The watchtower was supposed to be a place where the City Guards would observe the situation in the city to ensure the safety of the people. However, someone had infiltrated the place on that night with the intention to harm the Emperor.

It seemed that the person who wanted the Emperor to die was very determined and had gone all out. They are willing to gamble and took such a dangerous path to ensure that the Emperor could not return to the palace!

Officer Zhou Ming nodded before he turned around and left the area with his guard, Wen Ping.

Meanwhile, everyone left kept their eyes on Yu Feng. At this time, they were all admiring Yu Feng.

The little boy was so skinny and dirty, but he seemed like a very smart person.

With Yu Feng's warning, Qin Zhi Hao quickly pulled the Emperor into a dark alley where the people on the watchtower would not be able to see them.

Once he was sure that they were at a safe place, Qin Zhi Hao turned to Yu Feng and asked, "Xiao Feng, do you know a safer way for us to return to the palace?"
