"Well, that was unexpected." Marcin said stoically. Grace shot him a glare. To which he responded with a grin.
The fear she felt washed away as suddenly as it came. But this shared humor was welcomed in the midst of what has happened. Grace was still reeling.
Thinking back why does this keep on happening to her?
"I don't understand." She said. "Who are they?"
Marcin glances sideways at her as he picks up the debris scattered about.
"Marcin you owe me an explanation. I was close to dying." Grace said her voice cracking with panic. Unshed tears crawling their way up her throat.
For a moment she was afraid that he wouldn't answer.
"Their here because of me. They want to kill me in order to claim the throne for my cousin Malcolm."
Shocked, she placed her hand on her mouth and the other on her hip. This can't be happening but alas it is, she couldn't help but wonder if it is like this outside the kingdom, how is it inside?
"Don't worry. I won't let anything happen to you." Marcin said in a soft tone. She couldn't help question how much of it was really true.
As they headed to the next town over she saw just how narrow her world view is, this town was brimming life. Even though it is cold the people were enlightened; the town's cacophony was magnetic and magical. She had never seen anything like it.
"This place is magical." Grace said with awe.
Marcin grinned and said, "you haven't seen the best part."
