"Nidoran, start with 'Tackle'", Axel shouted.

(For this battle, enemy Nidoran would be called F. Nidoran)

"Nidoran, 'Double team'", said Luna calmly.

Seeing the opponent using 'Double team' and 2 F. Nidorans attacking, Axel immediately told Nidoran to use 'Focus energy'. Nidoran closed its red eyes and started to focus.

"Concentrate and then use 'Chip away' and combine it with 'Tackle'", Axel said.

'Chip away' was a move that looked for an opening and strikes continuously. The 1st F.Nidoran came using its 'Tackle' while the 2nd F.Nidoran just behind the 1st jumped high ready to use 'double kick'.

Our Nidoran opened its eyes and dodged the 1st F.Nidoran and then the 2nd one too and used 'Tackle' to 2nd Nidoran. Unfortunately, the 2nd Nidoran was an illusion and it faded away.

Meanwhile, "Nidoran use 'Bite'.", said Luna excitedly.

F.Nidoran used 'Bite' on Nidoran's ear. Nidoran cried and tried to get it away but F.Nidoran had a good grip.

At this point, Axel realized that Pokemon's battle was totally different than fighting wild Pokemon. Burno seemed really weak compared to Luna.

"Nidoran, don't panic. It is just a little setback. Now use 'Venom drench'." Axel said in a low mature voice.

Nidoran felt Axel's intent and calmed down a bit. It was panicking before because it had never lost a fight. And now, it seems that it might. Nidoran opened its mouth and sprayed poison all over F.Nidoran's body. It didn't have much of an effect on it cause it is also poison-type Pokemon. But it was not completely immune to poison.

'Venom drench' hit its eyes and it got distracted. Nidoran at that moment freed itself from 'Bite'. Venom drench lowers Attack, Sp. Attack and agility. F.Nidoran was affected by it but not to the point that it would be monumental in this battle. Nidoran didn't waste any time and used 'Horn attack'.

F.Nidoran backed up half a meter from the collision and Axel instructed Nidoran to use 'Tackle' at full speed. Level 7 'Tackle' hit F.Nidoran and it impaled it to the ground.

Nidoran backed off a bit to get ready for another attack. At this crucial time, "Nidoran focus, use 'Bide'" Luna said at a hurried pace.

Now, 'Bide' was an attack that endures the damage for 2 turns and then deals double the damage it received. If Nidoran attacked F.Nidoran and it survives using 'Bide', then Axel would surely lose the match.

So Axel used an intelligent move. "Nidoran, use 'Rest'".

While F.Nidoran was shining with a red aura, Nidoran closed its red eyes and slept to recover its health. Now even if 'Bide' connects, it will not affect Nidoran much, cause it never dealt with any damage to F.Nidoran. This move angered Luna a bit.

What Axel didn't know was, her Nidoran had a good defense. She thought to use 'Bide' at last so that Axel would take the risk of using stab moves to eliminate F.Nidoran. But because of good defense, there was a high chance that F.Nidoran would survive and it would be her victory. But this move failed.

"Huh!, coward. Why don't you finish it if you are a man?", she shouted taunting Axel. Axel didn't say anything and just smirked with a devilish smile.

Finally, F.Nidoran charged its Bide and hit Nidoran. Axel shouted for Nidoran to wake up, but as it has just learned it, it wasn't proficient in it. The 'Bide' hit Nidoran but it didn't do much damage. 'Rest' has healed Nidoran quite a bit and it woke up after it was struck.

F.Nidoran was breathing heavily cause 'bide' takes a lot of time to charge. Nidoran tried to use 'Tackle' again but F.Nidoran dodged it. It then used 'Chip away' and used 'Tackle' continuously. F.Nidoran was not getting any hits on Nidoran. There were bruises and cuts all over F.Nidoran with bleeding all over its body. Everyone knew that it was going to lose and it did too.

As a final strike, Luna said "Nidoran use double team and double kick."

A red light flashed in its eyes. "Nido… Nidoran!!" it said and used double team. This double team was very fast than the last one. Nidoran couldn't perceive it. The 1st double kick from 1st F.Nidoran hit Nidoran right on its face and it flew back and stuck itself on the rock and the rock cracked on the impact.

The force of that 'Double kick' was very high for a beginner Pokemon. The 2nd double kick from 2nd F.Nidoran hit on the same spot and the rock shattered. Nidoran flew for 5 meters and crashed on the ground with a big Thud!.

The battle had completely turned. F.Nidoran ran to Nidoran and used 'Bite' on its same ear. Nidoran too used 'Bite' on F.Nidoran. Both were not willing to give up. But after a dozen to seconds, F.Nidoran closed its eyes and fainted.

Everyone was shocked watching this battle. Axel should have won pretty easily, but Luna's Nidoran turned the table in an instant. It still lost but everyone in the stadium had a hint of respect for the small quadruped Pokemon. The referee was also in a daze for a few seconds.

Realizing his mistake, he shouted, "Ah… the winner is Axel Blaze." The crowd erupted after the match. Nidoran was very hurt from the match. So, Axel hurriedly took Nidoran to check up. The nurses were at the stadium for any injured Pokemon. They brought 2 stretchers for both the Nidorans.

After waiting 30 minutes impatiently, Nurse Joy gave Axel horrifying news. Nidoran was hurt very badly, so it could only make a full recovery tomorrow. The next round would be held in the evening. Nidoran would heal enough for the battle at the point but it was not advisable to let it battle in the tournament in the evening.

Axel felt really bad that he couldn't really win this tournament. He obviously would not use Nidoran in the evening.
