"Light, start with 'Confusion', and then 'Thunderbolt'," said Axel.
"Gyarados, use 'Chilling Water'," said Kent.
Alakazam was a fast Pokémon. It might not be as fast as Shedinja, but it was still faster than Gyarados.
Gyarados used 'Chilling Water'. It was a move that let the user send out a chilling type of water, which would gradually lower the temperature and lower the opponent's attack power.
'Chilling Water' was not a good move. It was average at best, but Axel knew that Kent would not have taught it if it was an average move. Axel thought to be vigilant.
His guess was right. This was not the normal 'Chilling Water'. With the help of 'Water Manipulation', the effect of Chilling Water had been enhanced. Furthermore, 'Chilling Water' was not coming from Gyarados's big mouth or its body parts. It was coming through rain. The temperature of the battlefield had decreased considerably.
'Light, let's finish this fast. I am not feeling very good about this,' said Axel through his mind.
Gyarados was hit by 'Confusion', so its head was still spinning. Taking that advantage, seven spears made of yellow electric current came out of nowhere.
'Now, do it Light!!!' shouted Axel through his mind. He thought not to speak for tactical advantage.
Those spears moved at blinding speed and struck Gyarados. However, only two of them were able to hit it.
At the meantime, Gyarados was able to come out of its confusion status and dodge the move. Axel was surprised by this. He knew how powerful Alakazam's 'Confusion' was. Gyarados or any other pseudo-king ranked Pokémon would not have been able to come out of it so easily.
'Is this what 'Endure' does?' thought Axel.
'Light, be careful. We are facing a powerful foe,' said Axel.
"Gyarados, now use 'Icy Wind'," shouted Kent.
Axel knew how 'Icy Wind' worked. It was a support type move. Mamoswine also knew this move. However, what he was seeing right now made him feel stupid. He felt that he was still a baby compared to Kent.
The battle arena had changed immediately. The rain had started to freeze with 'Icy Wind'. Every droplet of water was slowly freezing and turning into ice.
It must be remembered that it was heavily raining for the past 2 minutes. The rain from Blastoise's battle was still present too. There was also a large body of water on the left and the right side of the battle arena.
Every one of those was starting to freeze. The temperature was starting to get so cold that Axel had to use his aura and tell Gyarados to wrap itself to get out of the cold. Otherwise, it would have been frozen to death.
This was the most powerful freezing ability he had ever seen. Even Mamoswine's 'Blizzard' could not hold a candle against it.
Axel was safe due to the aura, and Gyarados and he were also very far from the actual battle. However, poor Alakazam had taken the full heat. All of its body was slowly starting to freeze. Its hands, its mustache, its mouth, and its legs. Nothing was spared.
Was this the power of a water-type Pokémon?
Axel controlled himself and came out of his imagination. He had a battle to win.
'Light, make a shield of fire and cover yourself with it. Also, 'Teleport' and use thunder spears like we practiced before,' said Axel in Alakazam's mind.
The move was so sudden that Alakazam could not even think properly. After hearing Axel in its mind, it finally calmed down.
A veil of fire surrounded Alakazam, and it became normal. It was not frozen anymore. It used 'Teleport' and appeared behind Gyarados and used 'Elemental Manipulation'.
Suddenly, thunder spears came out. These spears looked different from before. First of all, there were only three of them instead of seven. Secondly, the spears looked to have some solid form unlike before. They had a proper form of a spear. They were more powerful than before. These thunder spears moved at blinding speed towards Gyarados. The speed of these spears had increased tremendously.
BOMMMM
BOOMMM
BOOMMMM
Three huge blasts came as those spears struck Gyarados's body. Since Gyarados was so big, it was very hard to miss.
'Light, now use 'Thunder', and then 'Elemental Manipulation',' shouted Axel in Alakazam's mind.
Axel could see that even though it had used a fire shield to raise the temperature around it, it was still getting frozen. Axel knew that Alakazam didn't have enough time. It needed to end this battle as fast as it could.
Three thunder spears came out again, and it was ready to strike. The previous thunder spears had done a lot of damage to Gyarados. Elemental Manipulation had leveled up to 40, and now these thunder spears could be used in a semi-solid form. That was not the only thing that had changed. These spears could impact the opponent with a huge amount of power, unlike before, and they could also detonate to do additional damage.
RUMBLE… RUMBLE…
The sky started to rumble, and yellow light could be seen in the sky. Since it was still raining, the power of 'Thunder' had been enhanced, and it would not miss.
SHRINGGGG…
The yellow blast of the beam came striking down towards Gyarados, while those thunder spears also moved towards it.
"Gyarados, now use 'Avalanche'," shouted Kent.
When he said 'Avalanche,' finally, all the things connected in Axel's mind. Before he could warn Alakazam, the move had already hit Gyarados.
Somehow, before hitting Gyarados, the thunder hit these three thunder spears, and instead of blasting them to smithereens, they started to glow with more power. It was so fast that the crowd was not able to see this development.
However, Kent was an experienced trainer and a gym leader. He saw what had happened. This was a chain attack. When two separate attacks combine with each other and form a more powerful attack, it was called a chain attack.
The chain attack was very hard to master and very rare to witness. Even now Kent could see that the attack had not been fully mastered. It was not even half-mastered, but the power of the attack was immense.
The powered-up thunder spears struck Gyarados's body. It was able to close its mouth as one of the spears had struck its face too.
BOOOMMMMMMM
BOMMMMMMMM
BOOOMMMMMMMMM
The current impact of the blast was on another level compared to before. The ice shattered around Gyarados, and the battlefield was filled with white powder of ice.
Suddenly, the ice all around the battlefield started to move around, and all of it started to move towards Alakazam at a fast pace. It was a sight to be seen. Almost all the ice which had formed from the water all around the battlefield was now chasing Alakazam. The mouth of the crowd was open in amazement. They had never seen such a sight before.
"Light, use 'Teleport' and then 'Greater Telekinesis'," shouted Axel.
Alakazam teleported, but the ice seemed to have a homing function. It followed Alakazam. Alakazam closed its eyes, and its body radiated a purple aura.
'Greater Telekinesis' had not leveled up to 40, but it was still level 38. As of right now, it could do many things, but all of them had a minimum effect. Right now, it could change the direction of the air and also some of the attacks, and it could also create a vacuum of air around Alakazam.
Alakazam tried to create a vacuum of air around itself, thinking that the speed of the attack would decrease. It also tried to change the direction of the attack.
The attack had powered down a lot due to this, but…
BOOOOMMMMMMMMM
The stadium started to shake from the impact of the attack, and Axel fell to the ground. He could not balance himself as the impact had created a mini earthquake.
Battle arenas are designed in such a way that the power and impact of the attack would not transfer outside of it. But this attack seemed to break common sense.
The dust and debris started to settle slowly. Everyone wanted to know what had happened to Alakazam and Gyarados.
Slowly, everyone could see the result.
Gyarados was still standing, with a lot of wounds on its body. There was a huge wound on its face, and blood was everywhere around its body.
Alakazam had fainted. It was actually frozen like a sculpture.
"Alakazam has lost the battle. Gym leader Kent wins this round. Challenger Axel is requested to send out his third Pokémon," said Lyra.
The crowd erupted into cheers. They had not seen such a battle for a long time. Even though Kent had won this round, Axel was equally appreciated for his battle strategy and hard work.
Axel called out Light and told the nurses to take care of it.
"Let's do it, Beedrill!!!"
An 8-foot-tall, shiny Beedrill appeared in front of the entire crowd and Gyarados.
Everyone was surprised by the size and the color of Beedrill. Beedrill always gathered attention when it came out of the crowd, and Axel felt happy about it.
However, today he was not smiling.
