Chapter 3 Borrowing Money

"Come in. Let's talk inside!" Zhao Jiaqi ushered Ye Fanxing through the door. Mrs. Zhao was also home today.

On seeing Ye Fanxing, she greeted, "Xingxing's here."

"Hello auntie," Ye Fanxing responded, taking a seat on the sofa.

Unlike her, the Zhaos were very wealthy. Zhao Jiaqi was like a little princess.

Zhao Jiaqi looked at Ye Fanxing, "You said you needed my help. What's up?"

Ye Fanxing clenched her hands nervously, turned to Mrs. Zhao and said, "I was wondering if I could borrow some money from Auntie Zhao."

Ye Fanxing felt truly embarrassed. She had been classmates with Zhao Jiaqi for three years but had never asked her for money.

If it weren't for her tuition fees, Ye Fanxing wouldn't have made such a request.

She only approached them knowing that the Zhao family had the financial ability to help her.

After she finished speaking, both Zhao Jiaqi and her mother fell silent.

Ye Fanxing continued, "My mother doesn't want me to go to school, but I do. I'll definitely pay back the money. So, I hope you could help me, Auntie."

Mrs. Zhao looked at Ye Fanxing, "Well... Xingxing, I'm really sorry. I would've loved to help you if I could, but we are currently short of money. I'm really sorry!"

The Zhaos were aware of the situation at Ye Fanxing's home: her family lived in Nanchuan, and her parents' employment situation was unstable. Lending money to her would be like throwing it into water.

Zhao Jiaqi looked at Ye Fanxing and said, "Xingxing, I'm really sorry. You should go home and talk to your mother. You're a good student. She will surely let you go to school."

"...Alright," Ye Fanxing responded stiffly. She knew that the Zhaos wouldn't miss the amount she asked for. But since they had declined, she couldn't force them to agree.

The living room was cold from the air conditioning, and Ye Fanxing felt a chill. She said, "I think I should go now."

"I'll walk you out," Zhao Jiaqi said, accompanying her to the door. Just then, they saw a handsome young man getting out of a car.

It was a hot day, yet he looked cool in his white shirt. His face didn't show a trace of sweat.

Ye Fanxing didn't expect to see him here, "Gu Yuze."

Gu Yuze was Ye Fanxing's boyfriend.

Back in school, Gu Yuze was the class monitor and she was the class representative. Plus, they shared the same desk.

His family was well-off, but out of her own little pride, Ye Fanxing hadn't told him about her situation at home.

Gu Yuze looked at Ye Fanxing. His gaze was indifferent, his tone mocking, "Do you still remember me?"

Ye Fanxing was taken aback, remembering how she had declined several meeting requests from Gu Yuze after high school graduation.

It wasn't that she didn't want to see him, but rather she was too busy. After graduation, she had been working tirelessly and Nanchuan, where she worked, was quite far.

She looked at Gu Yuze, "Are you mad at me for not showing up? I'm sorry, I've really been busy."

"I know." Gu Yuze replied, "Busy avoiding me. Ye Fanxing, if you want to break up, you can just tell me. No need to make up excuses."

"Break up?" Ye Fanxing was confused. She didn't understand how he could have such a misunderstanding, "It's not true, I've really been busy."

"Let's break up!" Gu Yuze said, "If we do, you won't need to avoid me anymore."

Break up?

Ye Fanxing looked at him in disbelief, "Gu Yuze, you've really misunderstood. I wasn't avoiding you. You can ask Jiaqi, I've genuinely been busy every day."
