It Is Love That Tie Us Together

A YOUNG soul like herself was unable to get the concept of abandonment, as she lived her youthful years with loving parents and a protective brother, a family that never knew of pain or sadness. or that what she thought.

she didn't know that things never last forever, that even the world keep on spinning and changing every second. nothing stays the same.

she should have seen it before it happened. the downfall of her family, the fading happiness, the fights, the pain, and eventually came the last strike.

the shadow of abandonment.

an increasing pain hugged her heart as she saw the back of the dark figure, leaving the place they called home with no intention to return.

no laughter was heard ever since. it was hard to look at the unoccupied Kitchen chair, to think of the memories, to recall the time of happiness when she is not living it anymore.

so deeply the suffocation of sorrow, and with the recognition of pain came the realization of the inconstancy of life, and unfortunately fear grabbed a fistful of her heart, everything she took for granted can be lost in a second. every soul she came to know could leave or die in a blink of an eye.

one day, her brother came to sit with her under the gazing stars, an arm engulfed her shoulders for comfort. he could see the sorrow embracing his little sister's eyes, swarming in every bit of her being.

he asked smiling softly and cutting the silence "do you love the stars that much?"

she took a moment to answer "No, I hate them. or do I pity them? although there are a lot of stars they seem lonely, too far away from each other. they won't ever be together no matter how much they shined and burned they will still be separated"

-"do you want to know what I think of them? they are all the bad deeds that humans committed being gathered and burned to shine light in the darkest of nights to guide us home, it is like a payback for the bad results these deeds caused to poor humans"

he continued " you see, you can think of them whatever you like, but they will still be shining through the darkness no matter what. they will always warm us, they will forever be with us even if they are out of reach. that the beauty in them"

she looked at her brother longingly, she knew he would be leaving soon to join the army and at that thought she felt her heart burning.

so the next day she wandered the forest, looking for the witch that was rumored to be living there.

fortunately for her she found the cottage, and with determination she knocked.

"I knew you would come to me. I see you, I see your pain, and I have the cure "A quiet voice whispered behind her then a giggle followed

the girl turned back nervous, terrified. but, sadly still determined.

-"look here my lady, a mirror is what you need, to get what your heart desires you have to say honest words of true feelings while looking in the mirror with the person you want to have beside you forever"

-"the mirror will tie your souls together, so you won't be separated" she said with a sinister glim in her eyes.

the girl took the mirror and began using it with every person she cares for in her life and she forgot to ask for the price.

she began with her brother the day he went to join the army, their souls are tied together, so he will come back.

she believed wholeheartedly in the mirror and it's power that it was a terrible heart wrenching pain to wake up one day with an empty house.

and with it came the first crack in the mirror as well as her heart and soul. first her father, now her mother. and who knows when will her brother join them.

they abandoned her, they escaped from the claws of sorrows, of their problems. and left shattered lives behind.

the fear grew more and more, the people she cares for keep on leaving her behind, some left the town, some betrayed her, and some gave up on the relationships they had together.

she couldn't pull the strings around those people forever, the untying of their souls kept cracking and shattering the mirror into pieces.

she looked in the mirror, rivers of tears spilling out of her eyes, seeing the blurry silhouettes of everyone who left her. she saw herself wilting. once a beautiful flower, now a dying one. in the face of the storm she didn't fight to beat.

her fears, terrors, and insecurities of walking the path of life alone got the best of her. there is no reason to keep living.

she lost herself

she left herself

she gave up.

and it was time to claim the price of the mirror.

her soul slowly, painfully getting sucked into the mirror that fell shattering every piece of her till nothing remained.
