Kyren and Rayna came out of the purple light somewhere in the hallway of a building. They fell onto their butts as they began to survey their surroundings.
He looked around and immediately recognized the familiar hall with child drawn blueprints and scribbles.
'This is Darien's place? My luck attribute continues to amaze me...'
"Why would you do that! I don't know much about the church since I'm still new to the human world, but I definitely know that what you just did was super dangerous!" Rayna was concerned about his future safety and she started scolding him immediately.
"I can't have other men look at my women funny~"
Her face turned bright red as she couldn't retort his brazen words. She embraced him and whispered "Idiot" in an affectionate voice.
"Who's there!?!" Darien felt a surge in the mana nearby and immediately thought there was an intruder.
When he saw the two on the ground lovingly embracing each other, he looked away to give them some privacy as they stood up and dusted themselves off. Hundreds of questions raced through his head.
"Sorry, I teleported here on accident. Do you mind if we lay low here?"
"Lay low? Teleported? What did you do this ti-"
Before Darien could question him, an old man appeared right behind the unknowing pair. He didn't have enough time to warn them of his presence because he appeared so suddenly.
Rayna was the first to notice and yanked Kyren behind her, growling at the new presence. Her ears and tail unconsciously appeared and the bristles/fur were standing on end.
"Don't worry little girl, I'm only here for your boyfriend. I mean no harm."
The old man was wearing fancy white, purple and gold battle mage robes of the church. His grey hair was crazy and maniacal looking, almost like a mad scientist's. He had a hunched down back that looked as though he needed a cane but it seemed like he was fine without it.
"I saw your performance at the cathedral and I must say that I'm impressed. That brat Edmund wouldn't learn his lesson even if I drilled it into that tiny brain of his.
I don't plan on doing anything to you or telling the church where you are so please don't misunderstand."
"Then what do you want?"
"Be my disciple, I want to see how far you can go with that void magic of yours."
"Disciple of the church? Did you not see me reject them?"
This old man was leagues stronger than any A~grade, probably the strength of an S~grade. Kyren wasn't afraid of death but unlike before when he challenged the church, the old man knows his relationship with Darien and Rayna. He would be powerless to stop him from doing something to them.
"Hahaha, you won't be affiliated with the church in any way. All I want is for you learn some void magic under me. I've been looking for a good disciple for over a century now. That Edmund only meets the most basic of requirements, while you might go above and beyond...
I can tell you extremely dislike the church so just think of me as someone who yearns to pass down my knowledge to the next generation.
I don't plan on forcing you at all. If you reject me then I shall never disturb you again."
Silence reigned down onto the hallway as Kyren thought about his offer. If there was truly no strings attached, why wouldn't he accept? He's been looking for someone to teach him about the void and magic ever since he first came to this world.
"Why is a void user with the church? Don't they hate us?"
"On the surface they do, but they actually use them all of the time.
Void users can be used to bypass the communication restriction of the Void Chasm. This is how they keep in touch with the other parts of the church around Irona.
So they kill the ones that reject them in fear that others, such as Alvestine and the elven, will learn of the truth."
Fury raged in his heart but he quickly suppressed it in case his curse activated. Before, he just wanted to make trouble or deeply cripple the church, but now.... only complete eradication would quell his heart. What's the difference between the demonic race or the under world and them at this point?
"I accept, but I'm going to be very busy over the next couple of days so can we postpone this?"
"Of course, I'm in no rush."
They exchanged communications and he disappeared as silently as he appeared. Darien came up to Kyren and looked at them in horror.
"Did you do something to the church?!"
"Kind of..."
"What does that mean!"
"It means that I'm now being man hunted by the entire region so I need to stay low at your place for a few hours until things die down."
After a couple hours, Kyren planned to borrow a hood from Darien so that he wouldn't get recognized until the church leaves.
Darien's mouth made a "0" shape as he felt the end come near. Ever since his first encounter with them, he's stayed a hidden forger in a horribly located shop in hopes that they would forget about him and his family. But now he was involved with someone who so openly opposed them.
Now defeated, he felt like forging a new weapon or hugging his precious daughter to wash his woes away, "I guess I'll get back to work then..."
"Don't worry old friend. I will make sure to protect your family even in death for sticking by me. You have my word."
Darien felt slightly better as he walked off to find his daughter. He hardly got any customers anyways so he just closed shop most of the time and focused on forging the equipment for Kyren and Rayna.
.....
Kyren ordered Rayna to stay and play with Serena while he carried out some errands.
His visit to Krista to cash in his reward is long overdue. Now that he pissed off the church, he needed more strong allies (subordinates).
Over the next one and half days, his influence would exponentially increase. Maya was going to handle the slaves he recently bought and offer them work or freedom. He was also going to try and rally the open beta players to do his bidding. With these two events, he could officially create his organization and rise in power.
His heart bubbled at the thought of becoming a powerhouse both physically and economically. Physically will come later but he had time.
.....
He walked into the guilds main hall and immediately asked the front desk where Krista was. They said that she would be here later today so he sat down at one of the unoccupied couches in the lounge area and waited.
While he waited, he sorted out the plan he had for the players and carefully ironed out every detail.
.....
A couple hours pass and it's now night time. A gorgeous and mature looking warrior with scarlet red hair and fierce orange eyes walked in after a long day of hunting creatures. The faint scar down her left eye and cheek somehow added to her domineering appeal.
Krista closed into the front desk and looked at the familiar clerk, "I've finished this mission," She placed a magical piece of parchment on the desk and about twenty strange looking horns to prove she completed it.
The attendant passed her the reward and pointed to the lounge area, "A hooded individual is looking for you over there. He's been waiting for a couple hours..."
"Someone's looking for me? Is it my family? I told them not to bother me."
"No, he didn't say anything like that. Just said that you owed him something."
Curiosity got the better of her and she looked over to where she was pointing. His physique was outstandingly muscular and toned while the aura around him was exceedingly tranquil and calm as he had an internal conversation with Leo.
She didn't recognize anything about him except for the fact that she supposedly owed him something, "It can't be... that's impossible. Their figures and auras are completely different."
Her heart raced as she thought of the mysterious Dragon Slayer that disappeared a month ago and she couldn't help but slightly blush. He was the only person she's ever owed something to in the entirety of her life.
When she remembered getting the news of Kyren actually finding and killing the Void Dragon within a single day, she realized her blunder. She couldn't believe she actually got swindled into making a master-servant pact for eternity. But he didn't return so she thought he forgot about her.
She walked over, on full alert as she tried to determine wether or not he actually was the man from one month ago.
Kyren noticed her approach and took of his hood while looking at her with devilish eyes. He could finally get revenge on her for the things she's done to him.
"I-I-It-It is y-you!!"
"Miss me~?"
"Not in the slightest!!"
He's gotten even more handsome and masculine since the last time she saw him and her heart beat rapidly. A blush threatened to overtake her as she stared at his new figure like a piece of candy.
The commotion turned a couple heads and they all gasped. Krista was one of the strongest and prettiest adventures in Kassio's guild branch so her reputation among its citizens was vast and she was treated as an idol. She was a solo adventure that usually took on hunter type missions and hardly spoke to anyone, always keeping up a cold and aloof front. What surprised them was how fidgety and girlish she looked, totally contradicting her usual tough and indifferent demeanor.
When they noticed the man she was talking to, they gasped yet again. The girls nearly went crazy when they saw his otherworldly appearance and flirtatious expression. The boys on the other hand grumbled, especially the ones that have always been pursuing Krista.
Kyren noticed the stares and looked at her seductively, "Shall we go somewhere 'private' to continue our conversation~"
The disdainful stares of Krista's pursuers turned hostile as they stared daggers at him. They also inwardly snickered as they still freshly remember Krista's cold rejections to their advances. He didn't stand a chance no matter how handsome he was!
