Chapter 35
"You totally embarrassed us" my mum screamed
We just got home a few minutes ago. My mum didn't even let me go upstairs to undress. Immediately we got to the living room she started shouting.
"I told you not to bring that boy. Now everyone will think my daughter is irresponsible! I was even convincing the women to let me join their club. How am I gonna get in now?"
I didn't want to fight so I just apologized.
"I'm sorry".
''Sorry can't fix anything! My night is ruined. So is my life"
Steve tried to calm her down but she pushed him away violently
"Calm down. 'm sure it was all a misunderstanding" Steve said
"How? Her boyfriend stole Damien's money"
"For all we know it could be a set up"
"Oh please. Damien is too mature for that"
That's what you think, huh?
"Let's just go into the room and relax alright?"
"Fine. I'll deal with you later" she said pointing at me
Oh, I'm shaking in fear. Note the sarcasm
Gerald wrapped his arm around me as we went upstairs
"That was very interesting" he joked
"Tell me about it. I have to go bail Drew out. I'm not sure about the police station"
"I'm sure its the one down the street, Damien is too lazy to call anyone farther"
I giggled nudging him a little. Gerald never liked Damien even when we were going out
"I may not know Drew much but I doubt he's a thief"
"That boy... He's so.... So.... "
"Arrogant? Proud? Desperate to get back with you?"
"Yes! Exactly"
"He just wants you by all means"
"I tried to tell him I've moved on"
He stopped and smiled at me
"You really like Drew, don't you?"
"Yes I do"
"I never thought I'd see this day"
I laughed
"Don't start with me boy"
"Its getting late, you should go look for him"
"Yeah"
"I'll call Pablo to get ready. Go dress up"
"Thank you"
I hugged him tightly. Yeah he might be annoying sometimes but he's still the best brother a girl can ask for
I went to my room and got dressed in a sweatshirt and jeans with sneakers
Its just the police station. I don't need to wear anything fancy
I grabbed my phone and walked downstairs and out of the house
As promised, Pablo was waiting outside. I got in the backseat
"Where to miss?" He asked
"The nearest police station"
"The one right down the street?"
"Yeah, I'm looking for someone"
"Alright"..
He started the vehicle and we were in our way
In less than ten minutes we were at our destination
I got down and entered the building . I looked around for anyone that could help me. It felt weird, I've never been in a station before
Sure I've been arrested a couple of times for breaking the law but I always paid them off
Imagine having to sleep in these dirty stalls, no personal bathrooms. I shrugged in disgust
I'd rather die
"What can I do for you? " the policeman at the counter asked me
"I want to bail someone. He got arrested tonight"
He opened a book
"Name?"
"Drew Parker"
He checked the book, I guess he found it cause he used the telephone to make a call
"Yeah bring out Drew Parker" he used his hand to block the speaker
"Who are you to him?"
"Girlfriend"
He returned to the call
"His girlfriend is here to bail him out"
He dropped the phone
"He'll be here in a minute. Please take a seat"
"Thank you"
I sat down on one of the waiting chairs. I couldn't stay still, I kept on shaking anxious for Drew to come out
After what felt like forever, a policeman brought him out. He was still in handcuffs
I ran to hug him
"Alright break it up" the man pulled me away from him
"Hey don't touch her like that" Drew warned
"You can't do shit" he chuckled
"I can" I spoke up
"Oh really? How?"
"I'm a Martin. You'll end up in jail, ironic isn't it?"
He finally realized who I was
"I'm sorry ma'am. I didn't know"
I rolled my eyes
"Who do I pay to?"
"Me"
"How much"
"200 dollars"
I brought out the money from my pocket and gave it to him
He went to the counter to document it. When he was done, he passed me a piece of paper
"Please sign here"
I read everything that was in it which took a while then I signed at the right bottom of the paper
"Is that all?"
"Yes ma'am"
He removed Drew's handcuffs "you're free to go"
We held hands as we went outside. He was awkwardly quiet
We got inside the car
"Take us somewhere quiet then get out of the car" I instructed Pablo
"Yes ma'am"
He took us to the park and got down like I told him to
The park looked so beautiful at night
"What's wrong?" I asked him
"Me. I'm the cause of all your problems. Let's face the fact, I'm no good for you"
"No.. "
"Maybe you should forget about me. Find someone that suits you"..
"How can you say that? After everything we've been through"
"Can't you see it? You told me you loved me when I was in a police car. Is it supposed to be that way? I'm supposed to tell you that with candles lit and stuff. In a romantic scene not like this"
He was shouting now.
"Calm down. I'm with you for you"
"How long are you gonna feel that way?"
"For a very long time"
"No you won't. You'll leave like everyone else. Very soon you'll find out that you deserve better"
"I won't. Why is it hard for you to accept the fact that I love you"
"Because that's the biggest mistake you can ever make"
"I don't think so. This is the happiest I've been with someone in a long time"
He sighed
"Thank you for everything"
"You're welcome"
"I'm really sorry about tonight. I didn't steal the money. You believe me, don't you?"
"Of course. I'm sure he just set you up just to get back at me"
He sighed
"At least you believe me"
"I do".
"Your mom hates me more, doesn't she?"
"Ehhh, you can say that"
