CHAPTER FORTY

As murmurs and whispers amongst the crowd of witches when Helena confronted Agnes about her daughter. "Why would you say such a thing? You know all virgins of the-" Helena cut her off. " The covenant must be sacrificed for the trial yes I know but, I'm requesting that my daughter be removed and or replaced." Agnes answered. "Oh I see you want to preserve the legacy of Lord Draco." Helena took a step back shocked that Agnes knew and now the whole covenant knows. "You think I wouldn't find about you and the warlock? Such pity but your lover had been exposed you two and now I see he was right?" Helena stood up and levitated towards Agnes who meet her halfway. My covenant will not follow upon your reign Agnes." Helena said but Agnes did not back down. "You dare deny me?" Agnes asked. "I can do more than deny Agnes." Helena said as they got closer but the doors suddenly busted opened and walked in her daughter. "Flora." Helena said but was shocked to see the condition her daughter was in. "My dear what has happened? Helena asked walking towards her daughter. "I have done my job for the witch trials mother." Flora replied. "Your job? Agnes you bitch! You dare send my daughter to do dirty work?" Helena argued. "Dirty work? She's serving her purpose to The Covenant to help prepare for the Witch Trials and return of the 13 originals." Flora spoke. "My queen I gotten word on the detective they are on they're way back to Memphis. It seems Hilda is causing a great uproar-" Agnes interrupted her daughter. "You dare ignore me? As your mother I forbid you continue with the Trials you're no longer apart of it. If your father was here" "If my father was here he would have congratulated me and told me to raise some hell he was right about you." Flora scolded her mother. "Your father was right? About me? It seems like you're just like your father a spineless wit who follows an imbecile we call queen. I smell the blood on you so you've been doing her dirty work for quite a while no doubt about it. Your father died because of that bitch and you still choose to follow her." Helena spat on the ground next to her daughter. " So you think you're ready to step up?" Helena asked. " Look here mother you've been trying to shy me away from the covenant for years, looking over my every move, well no more I choose to follow the Trials and an honor of my father I will make him proud." Flora turned to Agnes and kneeled on one knee. " I have did my deed my queen and I have the blood of the virgins." Agnes smiled and spoke. " That makes me proud to hear you shall be my apprentice in no time." Helena took a step towards her daughter. " Flora you're making a mistake she's making the wrong decision following her. She has other plans, plans that don't include the trials." Flora spoke. "I've made my decision." Walking besides Agnes. Helena eyes glowed which is uncommon for her. " You made a grave mistake my child to follow this bitch. Tell me what's your next move for when the hybrid returns? She's stronger than the both of you in fact she's stronger than this whole covenant. Only I know about demons and their ways. like how to banish them for instance. My Covenant is no longer apart of the trials, Agnes you're not my queen or the originals no matter what you do." Helena disappeared leaving a wisp of smoke and her covenant did the same and Agnes spoke. "Let them go I never liked her anyways." Flora spoke. "What are your plans for the when the originalas return?" She asked. "In due time you will know." Agnes said and turned to sit on her throne but Flora needed more than for an answer but decided not to push the issue of the question. "Yes my queen I shall not question your actions again." Flora bowed and disappeared. "Just know the originals will bow to me." Agnes said to herself.

A Whirlpool formed in the Mississippi River and then it glowed showing the portal underneath it. First the detective was shot from the portal with the others following behind him, all hitting the ground painfully. "I'm never using that portal again, oh my back." Takashi said as he held his back the others got up slowly too but at least they was alive. Turning her head Tori saw the Memphis pyramid the Bass Pro Shop sign was changed into an upside down cross. "Well it seems that the hybrid has found a home." Alfred said. "Yeah and it's emitting both dark arts and demonic energy which means she's gotten a good serving of souls in her body. Most likely followers also but for now we retreat to my place it's protected." The detective said as he knew they all was beyond tired and needed ready physically and mentally. "Great idea I could use a good warm shower." Àine said and reverted to her actual fairy size and drifted towards Tori, who held out both palms to hold her friend. "We're near the pyramid which mean my place is not too far from here. We need to stay out of sight so stick to the shadows. I know we're tired but, we have to make it there it's not safe outside." The detective said and they started their walk until Àine spoke. "Okay enough of this I'm not physically walking and seeing you all walk hurts my feet even more." Àine said and flew off of Tori's shoulder. "Off record I never did this." Àine said flying above them and began to spin around shaking her wings. The gold fairy dust came off her wings landing on her friends Àine stopped and spoke. "You all can now fly temporarily but we'll get there faster." Àine said and the other began to float in mid air everyone got the hang of it except Zevrij. He struggled and wiggled while the others held back their laughs, and floated towards him with her hand out. "Come lad I'll hold ya." Zevrij blushed and he grabbed her hand she saw but smiled and ignored it. "Alright let's go and avoid the lights." The detective said and off they flew into the night.
