Chapter 3: Harvest Moon

Jake's P.O.V.

The sunlight breaking through the curtain, dances over Cassandra's tanned thin body. I wrap my arms tighter around her after pulling the blankets over her upper body. She looks so cute. She lets out a cute little snore. I take my phone. After taking a photo of Cassy, I read trough my messages.

Penelope: Where you?

Penelope: What the hell it's like 2 am where are you?

Penelope: I heard a few people saw at the university. I swear if you are with Cassy, I will kill you!

"Morning Cassy baby. You have to get up and hide me." I wake-up Cassy. She groan and then sit up.

"What's wrong?" She asks pressing her hand to her forehead.

"Nelly is on her way. I gonna hide, tell her you haven't seen me." I say getting out of bed. Seeing my clothes on the floor, I try to remember what happened. Just as I close the bathroom door, I hear the dorm room door burst open.

"Fuck it Cassandra put on clothes!" Nelly yells.

"I wasn't expecting you. I was with a guy from the bar." Cassy says.

"Have you seen Jake?" Nelly ask.

"He went somewhere with some blond." Cassy answers.

"Oh. Well maybe you should get dressed." Nelly says before the door closes.

I hear a knock on the door. I wait a few moments before opening the door. Cassy is sitting in her robe on the edge of the bed.

"I will be in the shower. You can stay if you like." Cassy says walking into the bathroom.

I take opportunity to pack a bag for the weekend. I was planning on taking Cassy to see the harvest moon. I wait till I hear the water running before opening her closet. Looking at her clothes, I feel awkward. I don't to take anything that will make her feel awkward. Gosh it took me like half an hour to get her clothes. After putting on my clothes from last night, I take the clothes I picked out for Cassy and left. After packing my stuff I called in sick for the weekend. I didn't have Cassy's number nor does she have mine. Penelope was laying on the sofa in the media room. I knocked on the door before entering.

"Hey, I have a business trip. I'll be back Monday afternoon." I say. She is still mad about me not coming home last night.

"Whatever. You're the doctor. You should be telling me not to mess around." She says sitting up.

"I wasn't having sex. I am not having this conversation with you." I say walking away.

I made my first stop at the mall to get Cassy a few things like:

Shampoo

Conditioner

Toothbrush

Toothpaste

Soap

Lotion

Cleanser

Razor

Deodorant

Feminine hygiene products

After ten minutes I was at Cassy's dorm room. She look so beautiful. She was sitting at her desk. Drawing something in a book. She closed it as soon as I moved closer. I took Nelly's chair and sat infront of Cassy. Her cheeks turned read and a smile formed on her face.

"Hey Cass. Will you go on a date with me?" I asked. At first I thought she was gonna say no, then I would have to kidnap her. She smiled and open her mouth.

"I would love to go on a date with you." she says hugging me.

"Great. It's a long ride. Take books and stuff to keep you entertained. " I say getting off the chair.

"You knew I would say yes." She say getting up.

"Nope. I would've kidnapped you." I say walking out the door.

"You're so full of yourself." she answers taking all her stuff on her desk and trowing it in her bag. She walks out and lock the door behind her.

The walk to my car was silent. Once in the car Cassy looked like she was going to explode with excitement. The first half hour she was quite and stared out of the window. She is scaring me. She a huge grin on her face. She turns to me and raise her eyebrow.

"Did you know I always wanted to kill somewhere in the middle of nowhere." she says narrowing her eyes.

"It's okay. I was thinking about skinning you and making a Cassandra pie." I say. Her face was so funny. Her smile was wiped away, her eyebrow raised and she moved closer to the door.

"Why so evil?" she asks. She looked really scared.

"Don't worry, I won't hurt you." I say placing my hand on her cheek.

"Eyes on the road. Hands on the wheel."

"Let me tell you a story."

"Okay." She answers raising her eyebrow.

"My mom and sister use to go on road-trips after I left to study. So they would go anywhere they could think of. One night my mom and sister was driving on their way home and they had an accident. My mom died instantly. Amy was in the hospital for a week and then she then she died. I know what it means to be careful." I say and turn on the radio.

"I am sorry. I had no idea." she says.

"It's okay." I say placing my hand on her thigh.

"So where are we going? We've been driving forever." she wines.

"It's been forty minutes. We're going to my secret place." I reply hoping she'll be quiet.

"So you are going to make a pie of me?"

"No."

"So if it's a long drive, how late are we going home?"

"We're sleeping at my secret place." I state.

"What? No, I don't have clothes." she answers.

"It's okay. You can wear my hoodie."

"That's just wrong."

"Just trust me."

"Fine but I want my own clothes."

"Where here." I say after about two hours.

"Finally! My butt is bruised from sitting to long."

"Our date is later so you can get settled in." I say opening the door.

She was laying on the bed when I took out her clothes from the bag. She was surprised to see it was her stuff.

"How did you get my stuff?"

"I took it when you were showering."

"Why long clothes?"

"Tomorrow is going to be cold."

"Why so many clothes?"

"What else are you going to where on Sunday and Monday?"

"I thought we're leaving tomorrow?"

"Monday morning."

"I have a test on Wednesday."

"I know. I took your books."

"That was really sweet of you."

We reading books until about seven pm. While Cassy was showering I pack a blanket so we can watch the harvest moon until ten. It was suppose to be a rainy weekend so I took my leather jacket and put it in the car. I was hoping Cassy could get better. I don't want to see her die. I found out from her doctor that she had stage 3 cancer. It wasn't spreading fast but it was killing her. She first had breast cancer then it spread after having surgery. She looked healthy and happy, but I saw trough that crap. She was scared and lonely. I was reading when Cassy came out in her pajamas. It wasn't a fancy date and I told her she could wear her pajamas. After taking a shower we left. The moon was a orange ball shining in the sky. Cassy's eyes lit up when she saw it. We got a spot and sat at the hood of the car.

"The moon is orange." she says and sat on the hood.

"It's called a harvest moon."

"It's beautiful."

"Just like you."

We sat there till ten and went back to the house. Cassy fell asleep on her way. I carried her to bed. She even asked me to sleep next to her.
