An Incident

After the little incident I did not have the mood to walk around the city.

I sat in my car and drove speedily to the Sage Towers.

Parking my car in the underground parking space, I took the elevator to the top floor.

First time entering the refurbished building with my main body. It felt refreshing.

It felt like home. Cosy, homely and comfortable.

"This is my first true home since coming to this world." I say out loud.

{Welcome home} comes the voice of the great sage through the security system set throughout the house.

"I'm home." I reply.

I go into the bedroom and lay down on the king-sized master bed and close my eyes.

Since being human again, sleep comes naturally if I wish for it.

I sleep and enter the realm of dreams.

.

.

The next morning, I make a few important calls.

Somewhere in Germany.

Ring, ring.

A white-haired old man in a business suit, just finishing up his lunch picked up his cell phone.

Reading the name displayed on the screen, the man's face paled.

Picking up the call, a voice of a young woman came through the speakers. "Hey, Mr. Martin, how are you today? Listen, I just needed to cash in a small little favour. I'll send through some documents; can you get the products verified? I know you have your backdoor sources. Thanks."

Beep.

"Just that. Phew, that's easy." Sighed the old man, blood returning to his face.

"Who was that?" asked a voice from his right.

"Someone very dangerous." Responded Martin, remembering the events of a year ago.

.

.

.

Numerous such calls took place throughout the world. Some people annoyed at being called in the middle of the night, or in middle of important business, but as soon as they saw the caller ID, blood drained from their faces.

They reverted to the politest attitudes they could muster and answered the phone immediately.

All people received the same order.

Process the few documents that the caller sends over.

All these people shared the same thing in common.

They were rich. And they were members of the elites of the elites.

But above all else, they had employed the same person in around a 2 year period to get things done.

The White Swordsman.

.

.

"Cough, cough.."

Coughing to return my voice back to a man's voice, I place the phone down.

"There, problem solved. Now I just have to wait a day, and the licensing problems for my cars and phones should go away."

{You know I could have just done that through the system, right?} asked great sage through the speakers.

"I know, but I need to get some things done through people. I can't be a complete ghost in the business world. Right?" I respond.

{That's true. Well anyways, whatchu gonna do today?} asked great sage.

To be honest, I didn't have much to do, and I have been cooped up in the Project PEGASUS facility for a while and haven't really explored the tourist destinations of New York yet.

"Lets just walk around and see where our feet take us." I bullshit.

{So, Brooklyn Bridge, or Empire State Building?}

"Brooklyn Bridge."

.

.

I walk out of the shower and look at the foggy mirror.

"Look at you, you handsome guy." I joke in front of the mirror for the next 2 minutes, until the water on my body starts to chill.

Changing into a pair of black jeans and a button up plain white shirt, I change the length of my hair. I style them to look like DiCaprio from Titanic.

"There, perfect."

I walk out and start heading towards the Brooklyn Bridge.

Arriving, I buy all the touristy things like a hat and a shirt that says. "I <3 NY" in bold and wear a fanny pack along with those huge DSLR cameras around my neck to act the part of a tourist.

Walking along the bridge, gazing into the New York Skyline, watching over the East River, was peaceful.

Just walking from Manhattan to Brooklyn was okay, I guess. I expected more.

{This is not it. What comes after is the fun part. Walking over to the other side, you can eat at a world famous pizza place or just take in the sites of Brooklyn.}

So off I went.

Getting off the bridge and moving towards the denser area, I came across a rather intriguing site.

A little girl of about 3, walking along the sidewalk, waiting at the traffic signal, holding a ball in her hand. As soon a the light turned green to walk, a person behind hurried to cross the road and bumped into her, causing the ball to roll.

Running behind the ball, the little girl didn't not notice the revving of a sports cars, going 70 miles per hour, showing no signs of stopping.

The pedestrians saw this but weren't fast enough to react. The car would flatten the girl.

Suddenly, a streak of white and black flashed where the girl was and rolled over to the side with the girl in their arms, narrowly missing the car.

Honk, honk

"GET OUT THE ROAD, BITCHES" came the drunken laughter of a person driving the car.

"EMILY" came a shout from the side as a young lady came to the scene running.

Seeing the little girl sleeping quietly in my arms, the lady knelt down on her knees, crying, "wake up honey, wake up. Someone call an ambulance, hurry."

Getting up with the girl cradled in my arms, I speak to the young mother, "Miss, don't worry, the child is safe, its just a bit of shock. She should just rest for a while and she'll be fine."

Hearing my calm voice, she finally looked up, and I got a good look at her face.

Huh, what are the chances.
