The time that sped by within the labyrinth made time quickly pass and before I knew it, there were lavenders as far as the eye could see.

I sat there taking in the view.

It felt odd seeing the results of my work so quickly.

Cai Xiao Long wiped the sweat off his brow.

The crystal rose he had planted around the pond inside the caves in his home, blossomed faster than he had anticipated, he didn't expect to harvest so many this soon. He glanced at the hp potion he had used to speed up the process and considered drinking it.

To drink or not to drink. That was the question.

He needed to become strong if he wanted to protect his household, but if he drunk this, those would be able to tell the difference in his aura at once, drinking this was akin to putting a target on his back. He poured out the hp potion into the pond, the water glowed and then became so clear he could see the bottom.

His eyes widened.

"What's this? What happened?"

The fishies in the pond also glowed. They didn't die but halos of light hovered above their heads.

"Hmm...if only I had an appraisal item..." he thought aloud to himself, "But those are expensive..." his mind flickering back to the spirit girl he encountered back in the dungeon.

Should he go back to ask? He pondered it over as he made his way back to the manor.

He could already see it now, her cranberry red eyes narrowing at him in disgust as if she came across a bug, or maybe she would be so pissed, she'd be glaring daggers.

For some reason, he was looking forward to seeing those beautiful red eyes again.

For a split second, he saw her ahead of him walking down the hall.

Instinctively he ran over and grabbed her by the wrist.

"How-

She indeed looked like the spirit, but her eyes were round and reddish-brown, her hair was a dark brown as well, the spirit's hair was ink black and her eyes were upturned and slightly sharper. Both their hair was straight and had bangs, so in dark spaces, this person nearly passed for her.

Cai Xiao Long released her as soon as he realized it.

"Who are you?" he finished his question.

"I..." The girl straightened her back. "am Bai Xue Fei, I didn't come to see you but my Mother." She quickly explained, not that he had asked.

Cai Xiao Long's interest receded and he nodded.

"She's in Grandfather's room, Meng, take her." He addressed one of the servants he passed, but when he turned his head, the girl was following him.

"Was there something else?"

"You are the one who should take me. I'm your fiancee, not a guest!"

He paused listening to her voice. She sounded like the screaming voice from earlier he had heard out front.

"It's because you're my fiancee, and not a guest, that I tell you to find it on your own," he told her.

Many times Madame Bai was the only one to come and visit in the past for their birthday events, even if she did not say much it became obvious that her daughter had no intent to join her on her visits.

If it had been anyone else but Madame Bai he may have ignored her altogether, the woman had been a close friend of his late Mother's making her something like an Aunt.

This place was like a second home to Madame Bai, and very soon it would be her daughters. His gaze scanned her over.

He didn't like the idea that she resembled that person, even if it wasn't her fault, he felt like he ended up with a knockoff. He didn't even think of her in that way, but should she ever see him with this person she really might misunderstand he had a crush on her.

Recalling her parting words, he frowned. Both girls had a high opinion of themselves. At least they shared that much.

Unbeknownst to him, Xue Fei continued running after him and finally grabbed him by the sleeve.

"No! You're my fiancee so take me there!"

Servants passing by all turned to stare, a passing Madame Bai was no exception.

Her eyes widened when she saw her child making a scene.

"Xue Fei, you're still here?" Madame Bai's voice sounded unnaturally quiet.

Xue Fei turned her head to the direction of the voice and became pale, her Mother's smile was sweet but her gaze was frosty.

"I thought you said you weren't feeling well, and wanted to go home?"

"I was feeling better, so I thought I should go home with Mother." Xue Fei walked over to her mother, who gazed intensely at her with the same smiling expression in silence.

She didn't address her further but looked to Cai. A question sign hung over her daughter's head.

"I apologize about her,"

He shook his head. "Not at all, she wasn't asking for anything unreasonable."

"How can that be, Xiao Long you're the only head of the household, there are many things you need to do in your grandfather's absence, if only you had a capable wife to help share some of this burden..." She silenced herself reflecting on her words and the guilt she carried.

She really couldn't saddle this child with her hopeless daughter. Her conscience wouldn't allow her to go through with it. She feared what Cai's mother would say to her were they ever to meet in heaven one day.
