Cabin in the woods

In the past few days, I've wandered around Camelot and watched to see how things are run. I got to see Merlin become friends with Guinevere, and Merlin fight Arthur. The best part is when Merlin saved Arthur from the mother that swore revenge on Uther, just the look on their faces when Merlin became Arthur's manservant, they really don't like each other and it's hilarious.

After Gaius gave Merlin the magic book, I spent a lot of time studying it. I also asked Gaius to find me a job to do, since doing nothing during medieval times will get you in trouble for not being a useful citizen or something like not supporting Camelot like a proper citizen, whatever like I care.

Gaius' Grimoire is fantastic, it has spells from all areas of Old Magic, most of the spells channel a specific element, or 2 elements.

However fitting in with the people hasn't gone too well, since I look different from most people and the robes I wear are dark, contrasting the leather look that most others wear.

While Merlin was learning how to be a servant and preparing Arthur for the knights' tournament, I was in the woods right outside Camelot, where I made a neat little cabin. I would really like to learn some kind of ward or protection magic, but that doesn't exist here, not how I wanna use it anyways.

Since I couldn't protect the cabin itself, I instead enchanted the surrounding trees, bushes, and vines to only allow those with magic through.

After creating and partly protecting the cabin, I added a sign by the door that says, 'Those of magic are welcome to rest on their weary travels'. This cabin will be a sort of safehouse for those of magical nature, not to stay but to rest on their journeys. Though from the plot I remember of Merlin, most people that are shown with magic use it for evil of some kind, I just hope there are normal/good people that will come by as well.

Though there seems to be a bit of tension between Merlin and Arthur, I think Arthur is starting to realize that everything Merlin says is true. They are also becoming friends, cause Arthur did disobey Uther to go venture to find a flower just to save Merlins's life.

I'm also unsure whether cats exist here or not, which is kinda sad but I'll just buy one from the shop, cause why not, I might as well use the shop for some reason.

'System, open up the shop'

I narrow the search to domestic cats, and look at the most expensive ones, which aren't normal but any means, other than appearance. I think I found the perfect one, it's an embodiment of yin-yang, being black and white and having the yin-yang symbol on it's back. The cat is kinda weird, since it had no gender, and according to the shop's description, it has the power to control yin-yang, and it's sentient... whatever let's buy it.

So I bought it and the system gave me a little notification saying the yin-yang cat is in my inventory, but I thought living things couldn't be in the inventory. So I look at my inventory, it's an egg, the cat hatches from an egg. I sigh before thinking, this is weirdly expected.

So I take the egg out of my inventory and then realize... I don't have anywhere to put it, so I place it back into my inventory and buy some standard furniture for the cabin from the shop. I then take the egg back out and place it on a pillow, the type you would use to hold a crown.

'System, how do I hatch the yin-yang cat'

[To hatch a familiar, place your hand onto the egg and inject your energy. When the familiar hatches it will be completely loyal to you, and no power could turn it against you]

So I place my hand on the egg and inject just a bit of energy, and it's like the egg starts feeding on it, so I give it more and more energy untill the egg stops absorbing the energy and a crack sound is heard. Out of the egg walks a fully formed cat, the size of an average house cat(18 inches long and another 12 inches of the tail, while being just over 9 inches tall, IDK how to convert to metric)

"Hi kitty", I say in a babying voice, cause I totally wanna pamper the cat

"Hello Master", the cat responded in a voice that was gender neutral

I am kinda surprised, but the shop did say the cat would be sentient, and the system said it would be completely loyal.

"Please don't call me Master, call me by my name, Alfonso", having something call me Master is slightly unsettling.

"Ok, Alfonso", the cat replied. Now I gotta think of a name for the cat, I'm terrible at names, so I'll just think of one later.

"Good, now I need you to stay here. This cabin is a rest spot for those with magic, but if anyone tries to steal something or harm each other, you kick them outside. If they try attacking you or the cabin, then you have permission to capture or kill", I intend for the cat to be like a guard dog, well guard cat really.

After leaving the cat to watch the newly constructed, furnished, and protected cabin, I start my slow walk to Camelot. Like seriously slow, I could get there in a few minutes, but instead I'm gonna slowly wander a bit. I collect several herbs along the way, placing them into my inventory, I'll give these to Gaius later, he always needs herbs.

When I get back to Camelot it was sunrise, yeah I may not have went straight to Camelot, I instead wondered all over the surrounding woods. So I spent the whole night walking in the woods, it was quite relaxing.

---

So while I was making my cabin, I did miss the first few plot points of Merlin. I missed the Knights' tournament, Nimueh creating a Afanc(which poisions the water supply of Camelot), and Nimueh poisoning Merlin, though I did talk about the last point, when Arthur disobeyed Uther to get a flower to cure Merlin.

Glad I came back when I did, cause if I stayed in the woods longer I may have run into the Griffin. Though I should be careful, I'm not sure whether I want Merlin knowing of my pit stop for sorcerers or not, cause it could affect later decisions.
