Astronomical Ring

"A story handed down by minstrels through the centuries recounts the game that the gods decided to start with the inhabitants of this world.

A world plunged into chaos was not complete in the eyes of these beings who were nothing more than spectators and vigilantes, something beyond common understanding had to be shown for their entertainment ... Despair and Extermination.

The prophets received messages and the eighty-eight races were summoned to fight for the fifty-seven stars and thus obtain the power that the gods wielded. The wars that followed were so bloody and fierce that they lasted twenty years. The result was atrocious. Of all the races, more than half was exterminated and those that remained, seeing that their extinction was near, decided to mix using Light Mandragora; giving way to new and stronger mixed races.

Thus arose the forty-two current races and clans that divided the stars at the Council of Polaris. Everything to prevent this devastation from being repeated in the future. Each nation and people of men, dwarves, nagas, lycans, liches, witches, demons, drow, among others acted under their own interest and made the decision that they would not follow the purpose of destruction but that of their own protection and that of their people. From there were born the Holy Knights who would be the bearers of the astronomical rings; weapons with a specific power per user and ability.

But the saints began to be feared, hated ... since the energy that the rings emanated was of such magnitude that their influence affected their sanity and they ended up corrupted by greed and betrayal while on the way, the rings consumed their essences, until merge them with their core. Faced with the new calamity, a child who had lost everything pleaded with the gods to avoid a new slaughter on the way among the users in exchange for his life. It seems that they were moved by this sacrifice and chose to open the locks for the rings to regain their will. Now the rings could decide to stay or go to the sky and the rules would change in favor of the bearers who managed to withstand the influence of these.

The rings were being reduced in the world and only seven would remain in the hands of their new masters until he passed away or inherited them to someone more capable. They could not be stolen or given away just because, since the conscience of the rings was wise and would not recognize anyone who was not worthy of them. If it were to happen, they would turn black and their power would be nullified, rendering it useless for the new bearer until the corruption finished with them.

The passage of time caused the rings to be lost again and with them the knowledge of the correct use, but the greed and ambition to obtain them was not reduced in the least. After all this persecution, there were only three holy bearers that were still active, Lira, Bootes and Gemini, the rest of the rings, no matter how much they search, their whereabouts will be unknown unless a Holy Knight decided to go in search of them and wake them up of his eternal lethargy.

-It's a somewhat macabre story, playing with the fate of all those people, it even seems stupid-

-That's what you face when you play god. A war for some rings that in the end will not respond to anyone unworthy ... yes, it's really stupid.-

Ray responds seriously while continuing to flick through the book in his hand. He looks worried and at times cannot contain his discomfort. He has been reading library files to find some hint of the astronomical ring that he recently recovered and in passing he reads them to Meraki as if it were a storybook to get him out of the boredom of lying in bed.

-And to think that all that information would be here, how lucky I met that pair of crazy people, otherwise I would be in trouble-

-Dad, how do you make the ring work? - Meraki asks as he plays with the ring in his hand

-Ah well, that's a bit complicated. This particular ring will not answer to anyone other than its master who happens to be still alive, what remains is to find its location to return it to him-

-But if it wasn't the case? How do you make it work? -

-Well, you wear the ring and it will take the most adaptable shape to your soul when you attack. But if you want to check other things, it works like an armillary sphere, in the center of which is the heart of the star that will give you data such as your location at any point on earth, you can know latitudes, calculate times, seasons, movement of the stars. ..and there was something else but I don't remember everything that idiot had told me-

Ray began to number everything with his fingers and looking at the ceiling trying to remember when he suddenly began to doubt. A memory about a certain person gave him chills.

-Dad ... Are you okay? -

-Let's skip that part. I don't want to remember Bootes, how horrible. Better let's focus on seeing what else we can get out of the files before going back to the hole-

-Ok, I'll do my best to recover and go after Espin's head- Meraki was very excited and motivated to see a working ring one day. What little he recovered of his father's memories left him with a longing to meet those bearers and their rings one day.

-Okay, let's move on. Then we will leave everything in order before going to the mirror world for your recovery and training-

The night had come and with it the reports that the Commission would deliver to Espín.

What they had delivered did not satisfy the king; on the contrary they made him more nervous and mad. The Commission found absolutely nothing about Ashley's death, on the contrary, they corroborated the expert witnesses' statement. But that was not all they presented. To make matters worse, they also delivered a detailed report on the explosion and again endorsed the statements of the investigating experts. They commented that they investigated each corner several times like crazy but they did not find anything strange, they only demanded that he accept the facts at once and end the matter that made them look ridiculous.

Espin was incredulous. He had been wrong and could not tolerate such a failure of his logic. He had to accept what he was reading, since those who gave him the documents were the most obsessive and heartless men who existed when it came to finding a fault. He was sure they would find something, but since they didn't, he couldn't give another answer but to send the Commission to hell.

The men withdrew very angry at the treatment they received but the king did not care. After looking at the documents several times and in order not to dwell on the matter, he decided to file it once and for all to close the case.

The Commission for its part rejoiced in making the rat who tried to handle them indiscriminately feel like a fool. They just waited patiently for encouraging news about the terrorist organization.

Astronomical armillary sphere (Annulus Astronomicus s. XVII): it is the representation of the planet in a ball. When rotated, the entire system around the axis of the poles reproduces the daily movement of the stars. The sphere did almost everything that was previously described above. The astronomical rings are a miniature of the original and are sold on Amazon and Ebay.
