CHAPTER XXIX

Anthony's smile remained undisturbed all the way through, no matter how much Sarah, Mike and I picked on him for that smile.

I left Mike at home before I left Anthony, who, dazzled by his budding happiness, waved silly goodbye.

"Do we look like that too?" asked Sarah.

"I hope not but sure I look silly looking at you.

"Why do you have to be so cute?"

"You've got me foolish," I answered.

When I parked the car in the garage I did it as quietly as possible so as not to disturb my father's sleep, who was already asleep.

"I'm going to brush my teeth" announced Sarah when she took the toothbrush from her toilet bag, which was placed on top of her perfectly organized suitcase.

"Wait for me to come with you," I said after taking off my shoes and getting to her height.

We brushed our teeth in silence and in the same way we changed our clothes and went to bed, resting one in each other's arms.
