Bitch [37]

"Of co…" I was about to answer when I felt something sharp and pointed hit my elbow with a heavy force and then the pain spreading all around the area which was hurt. "Ahh" I yelped in pain and my other hand automatically held the one which was hurt.

"Kat!" Cee shouted and held me by my shoulders as I was slouched down a little by the impact of pain.

"Oh I'm so sorry. I didn't saw you guys standing over here. Must be my loser filter eyes which blocks losers out of my sight." I heard Sophie's annoying high-pitched voice. I turned my head sideways and straightened on my spot, pressing the area which was hurt.

She was wearing a pink sweater and a black skirt with sultry stockings under it. Her long blonde hair were left open and she rolled a hair strand around her forefinger. She had an umbrella in her left hand which I assumed was the thing she hit me with.

"I got to go. I have better things to do than to waste my time taking a loser to the nurse." Her mouth twitched as she spoke.

But as soon as she took a step forward, Cee outstretched her foot to trip her up. Without noticing, Sophie stumbled before finally falling onto the floor ahead. The crowd went hooting turning their attention towards the ruckus caused by Sophie.

Cee locked her hands behind her back and stooped downwards in front of Sophie. "Watch your step Sophie. Must be the rain water you slipped on."

"You bit. . ." She was about to retort but the morning bell cut her off. Everyone began heading to their classes. Cee and I were also on our way to our class, leaving Sophie unattended on the floor.

Cee turned back and stick her tongue out at her in a mocking way and Sophie passed a glare in our direction, probably cursing us in her head.

"Is your hand okay now?" Cee tried to confirm as she noticed me still holding my elbow with my other hand.

"Oh I'm okay now. It's just aches a little." I smiled biting back the pain. It still hurt pretty bad. She had hit me with such a strong force, I was sure it must have left a bruise on my skin. Sometimes I didn't understood what her problem was. She would pick up fights on us without any reason. It was as if she had some personal issues with us for no reason. I despised her to an extent where I can't even stand a sight of her. And it was all on her.

"You sure?" She asked with concerned eyes. I was grateful to God that I have a supporting friend like Cecelia Parker in my life, no matter the circumstances, she always sticks up for me and I can't be more lucky. Suddenly, I was reminded of the consequences of giving up the normal life and choosing a new path for myself. I will have a new life with new challenges and I won't be able to focus on the current one. I could not bear to imagine a life without my one and only true friend Cee. Suddenly, keeping everything a secret from her felt like a wrong thing to do. But what other choice I was left with. No one would believe me. Not even Cee.

"Yes." I answered and we stepped inside chemistry classroom.

It was a lab class today. The apparatus and chemicals were already placed on our table tops. Mr. Cooper was no where to be seen in the classroom and everyone was either sitting casually in their assigned seats or talking. Cee and I slid into our seats. I set down my textbooks on the table while Cee yawned, I doubted if it was a real yawn or one cause of her disinterest towards the subject.

"It's so hard to bear this subject five days a week." She whined and slouched down placing a hand to support her face which held a sleepy look.

"Come on, it's not that bad." I attempted to motivate her.

"Babes--- that coming out from your mouth sounds so biased since it's your favorite subject. Of course you won't agree with me." She argued.

"That's not entirely true you know." I replied. "Come on it's a lab class, not one of those theory ones." I attempted to encourage her.

"Both of them are equally boring and intolerable." She held her forehead with both her hands and then closed her eyes for a second before opening them. "Guess I'll just have to bear with it." She complained.

"Enjoying the rain?" A sweet voice interrupted us and we turned back to find it was Zach with a smile playing on his lips. His honey blonde hair were perfectly gelled into orderly fashion.

"Hi! How have you been?" Cee was immediately alert and gleeful. It looked like Zach was the only person she wished to see at the moment. I could feel her excitement, as it radiated all around her and maybe Zach felt it too as he chuckled before responding to her.

"I'm doing good Cecelia." He said. "What about you guys?" He repeated his previous question.

"We're good." I replied. Zach and Cee continued conversing as I let my gaze wander around the class to find Lucas.

He was sitting there, at the back of the class, in his seat. His hands were folded and placed on the table as he was leaning forward with his head turned sideways. His gaze was fixed somewhere outside the window, admiring the raging sky. I wondered what was so fascinating about the rain as he appeared delighted by it. Or maybe he was thinking about something. Normally, he would be at Zach's side, goofing around. But today he seemed different. Isolated and broody. I wondered what was he thinking about?

Mr. Cooper finally entered the class and called it to order. Everyone including Zach rushed back to their seats and settled as Mr. cooper began explaining about today's experiment.
