Tension [72]

After one hour, I was done explaining him the doubts he had. It was time to leave and stuffing the textbooks inside my backpack, I zipped it shut.

"What are you doing this Saturday?" I heard him say. His textbooks were already inside.

"Depends on why you're asking?" Was my instantly reply.

He chuckled and from the corner of my eye I saw him shifting in his seat. "There's a place I wanna take you to. . ." I cut him off.

"I'm sorry, I'm busy this Saturday." I replied without bothering to take a look at him.

The hostility I brought out in my words was entirely unnecessary. He had asked me out and even if I wanted to deny him, I should have done it nicely.

"What about Sunday?" He tipped his chin up.

"I don't go out on school nights." Perfect. That sounds reasonable enough.

"Then we can postpone it for later." He crossed his legs and folded his hands in front of his chest.
