Regret [110]

I moved my eyes from the staring faces of the people towards the regular spot where Lucas and I used to study at. He was there, seated in a relaxed manner and just like everyone else his eyes were too trained on me. We held our gazes for one, two , three seconds before we both finally broke the only contact awkwardly. I stepped inside and closed the door gently behind me. People turned their heads back to their business and I started making my way towards Lucas.

He didn't even bother to look when I took the seat in front of him and I wondered what I was supposed to say or ask. It was awkward and if it wasn't, then the silence which lingered in the monotonous atmosphere was making it like that. Ignoring each other in class was easy. But now I have to assist him with his studies and verbal communication was the need of the moment.

I laid my textbooks on the table and cleared my throat lightly, just make sure that when I speak my voice didn't come out brittle.
