The meadow [244]

We parked beside a narrow dirt trail in the woods and Lucas helped me outside the car.

"Are you sure I'll be fine in the woods?" I moved my eyes from him to my plastered leg.

"You don't have to worry about that." He said as he unexpectedly and swiftly scooped me up in his arms.

An 'oh' escaped my lips with the suddenness of the act.

"Don't tell me you're going to carry me all the way." I checked because he seemed utterly determined.

His lips stretched and his eyes curved into a reassuring smile.

"I've got a better idea."

"And that is?" I was excited.

"Just hold onto me tight."

And then with a lunge upwards we were in the air. I could feel the light blows of wind against my face as his wings flapped as he flew. I could not see his wings but I could still hear the flapping sounds. I was curious to ask him about why I couldn't see them but this was not the only question I had from him.
