„After Leo knew that he'd never be able to play the sport he loves again, he moved to Brazil to study there. After all, he was half Brazilian and he didn't want to see his friends playing Volleyball every day. And without our ace, our team broke apart and the only one left was me. That was one year ago."
We couldn't say anything. The fact that this boy was still sticking with this club earned him my respect. Suddenly, we heard voices from outside.
„Look, that's the losers trash of a gym!"
„Captain, that sounds like they're talking about us!"
„Just ignore that!"
„Hey you one man garbage of a team, go back to your trash can!"
I was getting really pissed now! They didn't even know what they were talking about! Calm down...
„Do you even know how to hit a ball?"
Calm...down...!
„The falcons? What's the use of birds if they can't fly?"
...
„THATS ENOUGH!"
Simons POV
I was used to them. They came here every training. I was one and they were minimum three people, so it wouldn't make any sense to pick up a fight with them. And there was no one who would...
„THATS ENOUGH!"
Timo?
„That's right! Do you even know how the captain feels?"
Niki too?
„Everyone who ever was on this team maybe wasn't the best Volleyball-Player, you could call them losers yes, they've never won a game! But they were everything but hopeless!"
„We will find three people to form a team and go to nationals! And then, all of you will be quiet!
These guys...They take it serious. They take me serious. They take this team serious.
„Ya heard him! Piss off!
Oh oh, they should better run for their lives. Mei is here.
Timos POV
Wait a second! Timeout! What was that girl from school doing here? Why was everyone so scared right there? Seriously, even I couldn't run as fast as these guys obviously trying to avoid a confrontation with her.
„My my! 5 minutes in you're team and the newbies already have to babysit ya? Can't believe you were born first, Big Bro!"
„Wait a second! She is your sister?"
„Unbelievable, right? My name's Mei and I'm the captain of the girls team!"
„So they have a girls team. We have to tell Teresa!"
„Nice speech ya got there! But do you really believe in this team, little bird? Do you think you could win in a tournament? Man, you're team is three guys who just got to know each other! Do you think, little bird, you could find three other Volleyball-Players to form a team before the next tournament starts?"
Timos POV:
I didn't know. I really didn't know if we could make it to nationals. But...
„Nobody knows that. I'm backing up what I said before, but every team is able to win or lose. No win is safe before the match is over. But what is completely sure is that falcons are not supposed to stay on the floor forever. We are supposed to fly! And we will fly!"
Simons POV:
He was right! We've wasted enough time!
„Ok then! Big ambitions we've got here! Success comes with training, so let's begin!"
„Uhm, how are we supposed to train? Two vs two? Besides, we need a coach or/and a manager, 5 more players for the girls and at least three for the boys just to be able to play matches."
Damm he's right! Also, this gym needed to get cleaned!
„If I am allowed to say something, I could have someone for you. His name's Felix and he's pretty small, though I heard that he's pretty good in Volleyball. I think he plays Libero. I happen to know where he lives"
„Thank you Mei, that's great! I will try talking with him tomorrow."
„Thanks Timo! Now, let's begin the semi-training!"
Before I went back into the gym, I thought about everything that happened to me in this team. I also thought about a boy, far away in Brazil, who was maybe still blaming himself for something that happened a year ago. And then I made a decision.
„( Screw the Past! One day, I will blame and excuse myself for what happened back then. But not today! He is right, we will fly! The rebuild has begun!)"
With a smile on my face, I headed back to the gym.
