The blocker

Nikis POV

From that day on, Felix was part of the team

( of course, as if Simon would reject new players.) Anyway, we were still only 4 people and there wasn't much time left.

The next day:

I just wanted to get to the basketball court, when I saw some guys who were already playing.

„Ah shit, that means waiting!"

So I decided to just watch them playing. One boy just headed to the opponents basket. I thought he would make that point, when suddenly a huge guy appeared in front of him. He was really big, like about 2 meters. The one with the ball went for a fake shot and the big guy prepared for blocking, so the other guy could easily get past him and made a real shot. But suddenly, the tall guy jumped into the shot and was able to get it.

„(...Ah. Found one! It's tied now Timo. )"

After the game ended:

They prepared to go. The big boy was the last one, which was perfect for me.

„Hey you, wait a second!"

He just continued walking.

„Hey, tall guy!"

Still no reaction. At this point I was annoyed already, so I just went over to him and grabbed his shoulder. He then turned around, with a weird expression on his face.

„Hey man, what's your name?"

A few seconds of silence. Then he turned his hand around. Wait, was he checking if someone stood behind him.

„Are you talking to me?"

Jeez!

„Yeah I do. Whom else should I talk? What's your name?"

„David."

Suddenly, he began to breathe very quickly and looked super nervous.

„Everything all right with ya?"

„Every time I talk to people I don't know, I get stressed! That happens a lot, because I don't know many people."

„Okay? Well, your block back there was really impressive! Interested in joining our Volleyball team?"

Wait, did I just ask someone having problems to talk to one person to join a club playing a team sport?

„Volleyball you say? Okay!"

„What?"

„I said I'll join your team but I have to warn you. If it's about communication, I'm useless."

„Totally fine to me."

I couldn't believe it! We've got five players now!

At the training:

After introducing David to our captain, we began a practice game. We could play 3vs3, because Mei joined us. As expected, D was very good at blocking and we got along well. His calculating and emotionless style was pretty good for blocking. But something felt off about Timo.

Simons POV

That was strange. Even though Timo could jump very well, his spikes were very sloppy and bad, but his serves were brilliant. What could it be? What is it that we need?

„A setter!"

Everyone turned around to me, as I nearly shouted it.

„We need a setter!"

Nobodys POV

At that moment, somewhere at the other side of the city, a boy with short black hair played a Volleyball against a wall.

„What's the use of all of that? Why am I still playing?"

He took the ball off the ground.

„What's the use of a setter if there is no spiker?"

He took deep breaths.

„Is there someone waiting for my set?"

PS: I WOULD LIKE TO HAVE SOME FEEDBACK ON MY BOOK, SO IT WOULD BE NICE IF YOU COULD WRITE SOMETHING INTO THE COMMENT SECTION, AS LONG AS IT'S CONSTRUCTIVE CRITICISM, I'LL TAKE IT GLADLY.
