Pride & Prejudice

"Stop! You're not funny", she said scooting her chair some more distance always from him.

Feeling a little guilty after seeing her reaction, Angelo spoke again.

"Then should I call you my dearest, bride to be? Goddess Divine?"

"Did you steal that from Pride & Prejudice", she snorted.

"Is like to read a lot of books, how do you think I got through med school?", he said with a wink as two plates of food that Sofia didn't recognize were placed in front of her.

She was raised to eat whatever is in front of her so she took silverware out of a fancy napkin, then placing the soft linen on her lap. She dug in and moaned causing Angelo to stiffen in his seat. As Sofia continued to devour her food then stopped when she noticed Angelo hadn't started. She looked turned her head to look up at him next to her to see him staring with a dazed expression on his face.

"Why are you staring at me? Aren't you hungry?", she said licking her lips to make sure she didn't have any food on her mouth.

"I'm sure you make a lot of men hungry when you eat", he said looking her up and down.

She let out a small confused laugh, "well you could eat too?".

He shook his head at her innocence.

"Oh Sofia, what am I gonna do when my own wife never knows when I'm trying to flirt with her. Ever heard of a double entendre?", he asked smirking.

As Sofia registered, what he was saying she blushed fiercely. Yes she knew a double entendre simple meant his words had a double meaning, but she never thought a guy this attractive would ever say anything like that to her.

At her silence he continued, "didn't your past boyfriends ever talk you like this, doll?"

She sat silently eating her food letting her hair fan over the sides of her face so he wouldn't see her expression.

Assuming she wasn't answering because of her adverseness to the the nick name he gave her.

"Look, I only called you doll because of dainty and sweet nature. I'm not some sexist asshole. I want us to be able to get along. If you want I can explain to you why it means so much to me that this works out".

She put down her fork, but still sat silent looking forward as he stared, sitting next to her. He was starting to get offended. He never is vulnerable and here he was being honest, and she doesn't even answer. She really isn't realizing how rare him being this patient was. This marriage thing seemed impossible if she was already frustrating him this much on the first day.

"Sofia, I don't do well with being disrespected", he said in a voice she had not heard yet.

When she yet again didn't answer, he'd had it. Out of no where he stood up, making the chair loudly squeak, causing Sofia to jump a little. With loud food steps, he walked around the table and sat across from her, again making loud noise while he pushed his chair.

"What is your problem?!", he didn't yell, but she could tell she had upset him and that was enough to make her want to cry up. She refused to cry twice in one day in front of him, however, being mortified that she even had at all.

His jaw instantly, unclenched and his eyes softened from the dark color all wolves' eyes turned when they were angry.

"I'm so sorry", she said barely audibly. He could tell she was trying to hold back tears and this sweet girl had to have had many hidden wounds when he looked in her eyes.

Swallowing a lump in her throat, she continued. "You can call me whatever you want, it's not that. I was just to embarrassed to answer you first question.", she paused before finishing, "I've never had a boyfriend".

Releasing a breath he didn't realize he'd been holding, he finally relaxed. "Oh, is that all? Come here, darling. Actually, it looks like you're done eating, let me show you the back yard."

Feeling awkward, she got up and pushed her chair back in she said, "...but you didn't eat."

"I'd actually already ate, I just wanted to keep you company.", he said with a wink.

Placing a hand behind her back, "he let her to two giant glass window doors, that let to the most beautiful back yard she'd ever seen. She thought the front yard was stunning but this was somehow twenty times more magnificent. Especially, because there was a giant pool with rocks surrounding it and a built in waterfall. Along with this was lots of flowers and she wanted to go and examine each one.

Angelo could get so lost in watching her amazement with what he had just become used to, growing up here. Still he wanted to discuss some things with her, so he tried to stay focused.

"Sofia", he said pulling her out of her astonishment, "I want you to know you never have to be too embarrassed to tell me anything. If anything what you've told me, makes me more impressed with you. You've protected your heart just like I have. Although, I have messed up and broken many hearts along the way. I want to be gentle like you. Isn't James Dean who said only the gentle are really ever strong", he finished with a slight smile, but she could tell he was being serious, with the way he looked so deeply in her eyes.

Her heart leapt with what he said. It scared her how genuine he appeared. He already knew all the right words to say to her like no one else ever had and although he seemed so trustworthy, her whole life she told herself to not fall for anything like this,

"Can I ask you something", she said said not breaking eye contact.

"Anything, sweetness", he said examining her eyes and lips.

"Why are you being so nice? I mean I know you want this to work so you can be alpha again, but I promise you I won't try to divorce you or anything. And what were you saying about this meaning so much to you?"

"Well that's more than one question, but I'll let it slide", he said in a teasing tone, before getting more serious, "Basically, before my father passed he told me he wanted me to get my life together. He was a very blunt man, and I had turned out to be such a disappointment. He said his last wish was I return back to the family I'd left and become a leader like he once wanted for me, and to find a sweet girl to settle down with", he smiled as turned gesturing her to follow him around the yard.

He cautiously reached down and held her hand, "Is this okay".

Her heart beat got faster, but still she responded with a nod okay.

He continued to talk, "my parents had a beautiful marriage. She was gentle, but pushed him when he needed it. She made him a better person, and most of all they were best friends. Even if it's not happening the way I planned, I think maybe this is meant to be. I think you might be perfect for me", he said finally stopping in front of a stone bench surrounded by delicate light colored roses.

She couldn't help but frown a little. She was far from perfect and this sounded like a lot of pressure. She had no idea about wifely duties or how to please a man.

She was never one to be able to hold in her thoughts so she began to just say what she felt, "Listen I want to help you, but I have to be honest, I have no idea how to be your mother. And I'm very inexperienced. My parents were always very platonic in front of my brother and I. The only relationships I've really ever learned from are dramatic, glamorized ones in black and white movies", she said letting go of his hand.

He chuckled, tucking a strand of her hair behind her ear, "Baby, trust me I did not mean you had to be my mother. Otherwise, I would not see any room for attraction here.... and trust me I can generate as much steam as you see in those old movies of yours", he said getting practically only an inch from her face before continuing, "oh and by the way I'll make you my mate, you're going to fall for me."

Her eyes widened making him let out a hearty laugh that just made her more nervous.

After taking a second to settle her flustered disposition, she cleared her throat, "with all due respect, sir, I don't think any acts like the guys in those movies in real life. I don't really get impressed easily. And besides I've never even kissed a guy, how are you going to have chemistry with someone like that", she said feeling ridiculous for ruining the only time a guy this hot had ever said anything remotely like this, by self deprecating. Still, she needed him to lower his expectations, instead of putting her on a pedestal.

"That's okay, my little sweet thing, I'm a great teacher. And besides I could rectify that", before she even got to finish her confused look, in the next second he pulled her to his chest, stood up with her in his arms, and gave her a deep kiss.

She didn't know if it was the shock, or that he literally swept her off her feet, but she felt like she was on cloud nine. 'So this was the fuss about kissing', she thought as she melted into him without even a second thought. Her whole body felt limp as she surrendered to his supple lips, not being able to control the involuntary moan that she released into his mouth. If he wasn't carrying her she was sure she would have fell due to the weakness in her knees. He tangled his hands in her hear as he continued to devour her.

Finally, he set her down her feet gently touching the floor. She was sure her whole face was read after feeling like her whole body was on fire and her hair had to been a crazy mess.

"So how was that for chemistry, doll face", he said with a cocky smile and a wink.

"It was okay", she said in a quiet voice fiddling with her hands behind her back, her knee giving out for a second as he caught her into his chest chuckling.

"Really, because that's not what your moan said", he said with a glint in his eyes. "What happened to transparency, sugar lips", he smirked.

"Okay, it was kind of nice", she said avoiding eye contact, but knowing he was probably wearing that cocky grin again.

"Oh, just fine huh?", he said putting his big hands on either side of her waist, picking her up quickly and setting her down so she was standing on the stone bench and forced to be at eye level with him.

"So are you trying to say you're future husband, won't be able to make you feel good?", he said with a pretend pout knowing full well she was a flustered mess from what he just did and that he certainly had a huge effect on this innocent little dove.

Still he wanted to hear her admit it, "I really can't make you feel good?", he said putting on his most serious voice.

Sofia, not knowing how easily he could play with her and having no clue just how dark his personality could be when not around her, believed he was being serious.

"You made me feel good", she said in a shy, but sweet voice.

For a second he just stood there staring at her angelic face, wondering what a devil like him did to deserve someone with out an ounce of malice in her.

Sofia saw something in his eyes and just stood appreciating how deeply she could look into them while at eye level on this bench. Then in an instant a glint of something else flashed into them and he threw her over his shoulder, smacking her bum, causing her to squeal.

"ANGELO!" , she squeaked in shock and having the wind knocked out of her.

"I'll show you how to feel REAL good", he said, briskly walking towards the doors to go back inside as Sofia prayed this tall man didn't drop her, "Clark Gable ain't got nothing on me, baby."
