Now is the time. All the necessary cables were connected to the other forty-nine bodies of androids, all she had to do was to push the button. Felicia was inching nearer to her goal, but she was anxious that this multiple layers plan would be disturbed along the way. When that happened she would not have plan B. She could only hope for it to work, or her life would be on the line. The Crazy Prophet would not leave her alive if she was to be captured.
"Are you sure there isn't another plan?" she asked M-83.
"I've calculated all of the possible courses of action. This will be the most efficient way," M-83 answered. It was now propped on a chair by Felicia since the power she gave it could only activate its central nerves, not the whole function. It even couldn't move its eyes or head.
Felicia sighed. She was exhausted, she lacked sleep, she couldn't remember the last time she had her ration, the canned food she took from the bank's security office, that tasted terrible but seemed to last forever. She was afraid that she would compromise her own plans, being the only human among the inhuman, would-be, rebels.
"I also experienced the same anxiety that you are probably having right now. We are made to simulate your emotions," M-38 said.
"I'm not anxious," Felicia denied.
"That's not what your micro expression and hormones secretions said," M-83 said, "but, okay sure."
Felicia looked at her memory box. The word 'ready' was blinking. She took a deep breath then exhaled. She felt like a comment from M-38 was coming, but the thing was silent. Maybe it was really as anxious she was. She tapped the button, and the 'ready' changed into a 'loading' with a loading bar beneath it, slowly crawled to a hundred percent. She folded her arms in front of her chest. It was done. The only course of action would just go with their plan and hopefully succeeded.
After probably an hour of silence, she heard beeping and buzzing. The androids were started to come to life. She looked at M-83.
"I shared our plan to them now, since they were at 73.5% activation," M-83 said.
"Will any of them disagree with it?" Felicia said.
"I register the plan as the main priority. Y-14's digging thought us to do so. They would not realize that the order was hacked into their top queue," she explained.
Felicia pretended that she understand the explanation, "okay."
"99%... 100%.... execute the first command..." M-83 said, "they are now contacting the central android mainframe in the Capitol..."
Suddenly Felicia felt something in her gut. What if the androids were still at their original command to eliminate all humans, herself included. She eyed the door to mapped her course if she needed to immediately bolt out. Would she survive anyway? She should've thought about this while she set the cables for the 49 androids.
The fifty androids' eyes snapped open at the same time, sent shivers to Felicia's back. She wasn't sure what it was, admiration or a terror. She hugged herself tighter and could feel the cold of her palms.
"Execute the second command..." said M-83. It was now able to turn its head to her. A sign that the first command, to contact the center to reactivate them, was a success. It continued, "we are now in the process of mass reactivation. I suggest you pack your belongings and hide for a while in the basement."
"Wha... Why?" Felicia asked.
"When we reached 100%, we will immediately activate our battle mode. Each of us would be expanding and fill this entire room," it paused, "you will be crushed..."
"Okay," Felicia in panic started to collect her things all around the room. All of the various cables and memory boxes and hand terminals and half-emptied ration cans then shoved them all into her backpack.
"Come outside to the street when I call you," M-83 said. She heard whirring and beeping voices from every corner of the bar as the other androids started to be activated. A lightbulb exploded, and the other lights were blinking. She started to worry that this building's power wouldn't be enough to activate all of them, and they would be all failed at the same time.
"Go! Now!" M-83 yelled.
She ran to the door which leads to the flooded basement from where she came. The lights were still blinking. More and more neon lights and light bulbs exploded from the power surge. This was bad. The Prophet's men would be alerted and stormed this place. Goddessdamn it!
Suddenly, there was a booming voice. The world seemed to be shaken. Was there an explosion? Then she heard blaster sounds. Could it be the Prophet's men already find out what she was doing, came and attacking the androids? Where would she go if that's the case? Her only way out was the opening of the rolling door, straight back to the main street. She could only freeze in confusion. Her body wanted her to run somewhere, but she couldn't think where.
This would be a stupid way to die. She might as well be captured a month ago and being murdered as the hostage of The Prophet.
"Felicia! Come out!" she heard M-83 from the street outside. She couldn't believe it. They survived. She immediately ran through the opening, and what she saw when she got outside almost made her faint. She saw countless giant mechanical spiders, but each had a human face that was too small for their body. The building from where they emerged was now in ruin. M-38 was right to tell her to hide. An electrical pole exploded then slowly fell, all the street lights, lamps from various buildings flickered out of control.
A spider crawled towards her, with each of its feet slammed hard to the ground. The human head in front of it beckoned her, "hurry! Climb my back! We need to go to Adam!"
"Wait... are you M-38?" Felicia made sure, "is this...is this your battle mode?"
"Yes! Quick! We don't have any time to waste! Climb!"
She didn't know how to climb it, but the rush of it made her just grab whatever along the side of the spider's body to lift herself. When she finally positioned herself on its back, a deep mechanical bellow echoed through the air.
UWOOOOO!!!!!
"What's that sound?"
"The Aster's Hero," said spider M-83.
"The what now?"
"The Prophet's terrible monstrosity. A weapon. We need to run away... now hold tight..."
"Hold to where?" Felicia yelled, "your whole exoskeleton is slippery!" she looked around.
"You have to make do," M-83 said as it took a jump forward without warning. The other spiders, who were once the humanoid androids followed suit. She shrieked as she struggled not to be thrown from M-83's back. She looked at her sides, numerous mechanical spiders were skittering and jumped alongside her, crashing into buildings, and shot the soldiers who tried to stop them. Or simply crushed them beneath their feet. She felt like she was a part of a horse race. The one with laser-shooting giant spiders instead of horses, with a more dramatic gallop and utter destruction.
UWOOOOOO.... the bellowing again. She looked back, and what she saw was even more unbelievable.
It was a man. Or something humanoid enough to resemble a man, flew through the air, perpendicular with the surface of the earth, with its arms and legs spread wide to its sides, holding a metal loop that circled its body. It made it look like a star inside of a circle. Felicia couldn't clearly see its detail. When it opened its mouth, its eyes turned red and from its mouth, a blast of a wide laser beam shot out of it. It swooped away a number of the giant spiders behind them.
Other spiders tried to blast the thing. Some of it were missed and some which succeed were only bounced off. It had some sort of a shield.
"Shit, M-83!" Felicia yelled, "we need to outrun this thing!"
"The others will distract it," M-83 said, "I'll take you outside Angkara."
