The Alpha's 'Girlfriend'

"So, uh... Hi Mr. Ha- Lucas, sorry." Imani cleared her throat. "Would you um... like something to drink, Lucas?"

Imani had been feeling really jittery since Lola left. The only reason she had decided on having the meeting with Lucas in her house was because Lola never left the house on Sundays. But now she was gone and Desmond was over at his best friend's place, which left Lucas and Imani all alone in the house. Imani did not like that. She had chased Lola after the girl stepped out of the house and begged her not to leave.

'What if he tries to kill me?' was one of Imani's arguments but trying to convince Lola not to leave had been like hacking at a cement block with a fork. A plastic fork!

"No, thank you," Lucas replied as he stared at her.

His eyes wreaked havoc on Imani's soul just by the sharpness and dedication with which he looked at her, making her feel like she had butterflies in her stomach.

"The articles," she blurted out as she ran her fingers over the hem of her shorts and Lucas' eyes darted to the silky smooth skin of her legs before darting back to her face. "I'm really sorry about those."

"It's not your fault... I'm sorry about throwing my phone at your head." He glanced at her bandaged ankle. "And I'm sorry about your ankle."

The silence that ensued after Lucas said that made the both of them even more nervous than they already were.

"Oh um... It's fine. You didn't do it on purpose." She slowly walked over to where he was and was about to sit down next to him when the sound of a phone ringing filled the air.

Lucas kicked his legs out as he sat upright at the sudden sound, effectively hitting Imani's left ankle and making her lose her balance. He tried to catch her as she went sprawling over him and instantly realized that he shouldn't have done that. He really shouldn't have done that.

Imani's breaths came out in short spurts as she processed what just happened and realized she was sitting on Lucas who had one arm wrapped around her middle... and the other hand on her right boob. Both of them froze.

The phone stopped ringing just as Imani felt Lucas' warm breath on her neck and a shiver ran down her spine. His hand suddenly flexed on her breast and his wolf shot to alertness with an excited growl when an involuntary moan escaped her lips as she arched into his touch a little.

A growl rumbled up his chest and he suddenly yanked his hands away from her, like she'd burned him, before he shoved her off him and onto the couch. He shot up to his feet to get away from her as he heaved before he turned to face Imani who was lying face down on the couch.

"Fuck! Imani, I am so sorry. I didn't mean to," he said in a rush, his voice sounded rough.

'It's okay Imani. It's just boobs. Lola touches your boobs all the time. You touch your boobs all the time. He has definitely touched a lot of boobs so just calm down,' Imani thought as she kept her face, which currently felt hot, pressed against the couch.

Lucas took a step towards her, thinking he'd monumentally fucked up and she was probably going to ask him to leave. "Imani?"

She slowly sat up as she cleared her throat and forced a smile onto her face but she didn't look at him. "It's fine Lucas."

He opened his mouth to say something when the phone began to ring again and Imani stood up before she walked out of the living room without a word.

She let out a breath she didn't know she had been holding as she stepped into the foyer.

'Jesus!' she thought as she placed a hand on her chest to calm her racing heart. 'What the hell just happened?'

She glanced back to see if he was following her and sighed in relief when she saw he wasn't before she headed towards the ringing phone which was next to a vase on a marble topped console. The phone stopped ringing when she got to it and she furrowed her brows at it.

'Whose phone is this?'

It began to ring again after a couple of seconds and she picked up the call when she saw 'Des' flash across the screen. "Hello?"

"Finally," came Desmond's relieved voice over the phone. "Don't get mad, Manny, but there's sort of a delivery guy at the gate that has something for me. Please help me get it."

"Why would I get mad?" She furrowed her brows before she turned around and saw Lucas opening the front door. "Are you leaving?"

"What? Leaving where?" Desmond asked and she shushed him as Lucas faced her.

"I left something in the car," he stated in a rough voice as he pointed his thumb over his shoulder. "Your purse."

"Manny, are you with a man?"

"My purse?" She raised her brows at him and he tilted his head at her.

"Yes. You forgot it in Milos' parking lot."

"Manny, who is -"

She hung up on Desmond as she remembered the purse he was talking about. "Oh... okay."

"Are you expecting someone?" Lucas asked after the doorbell rang.

"Delivery guy," she said as she headed towards the front door.

He opened the door wider, and her face felt hot as what happened in the living room flashed through her mind when she walked past him.

He followed her out of the building, shutting the door behind him. They both walked around the fountain and Lucas stopped at his car while Imani headed towards the gate.

When she was almost at the gate, she gritted her teeth as she saw why her brother asked her not to get mad. The delivery guy was wearing a shirt and holding a bag that had 'Quik' on them and the fact that there was no bike on the street made it clear that he was a vampire.

The delivery guy's eyes darted from her to Lucas who was standing by his car and watching him with narrowed eyes. His lips suddenly drew back in a snarl and Imani stopped in her tracks as he tossed the bag in his hand over the gate before running off at vamp speed.
