"He doesn't want anything?" Imani asked with raised brows and her friend nodded in response. "Really? Nothing at all?"


She felt that Lola was lying because there was no way someone would risk being caught by the government without asking for anything in return. There was also the fact that Renfield Sutton had government connections so no one should be willing to give something that's illegal to his daughter unless they were crazy or they strongly believed she wouldn't tell her father. Either way, they definitely had to have asked for something in return.


"He's someone that used to be your friend," Lola replied with a dismissive wave of her hand and Imani tilted her head as she thought of who it could be.


She had a lot of people who used to be her friends till her parents died four years ago and she cut contact with them. Lola was the only one she didn't cut contact with because she refused to be cut off and was quite stubborn about it.
