"So my mum was one of the first witches and also the only one from that group that survived the hellhound dragging to hell thing?" Imani asked as Nikolay poured black salt in a line next to a window and he nodded without turning to face her.

They had gotten back to the wooden building in the clearing and it wasn't dark yet but Nikolay was putting the black salt by all entrances just because. Lucas was outside gathering wood for the fireplace which Imani felt uneasy about seeing as the house was made of wood but Nikolay had assured her that it would be alright.

"How did she survive?" Imani asked when Nikolay was done with the window and he checked the lock on it before turning around.

"We'll have to ask them that when we get back to our time because most of the things I just told you now are what I found out from people when I was at the market."
