JAPAN II

"This is all wrong" he stated shaking his head "the gods are real! they exist! and the humans are supposed to know about them, they have temples, where they worship the gods

and many celestial messengers come here to the earthly plane to bring blessings from the gods to the humans, the gods help guide and teach the humans the path of the celestial,

we have guardians that are supposed to watch over the souls of the humans all over this world, there are supposed to be celestials and the gods control everything

if what you're saying is true then all my people including the gods themselves are all gone now something terrible must have happened, to cause them to have been wiped out while I was sealed up in that statue for the last two thousand years"

"they might have existed at some point a long time ago but not anymore" she replied softly "I'm really sorry"

"you don't have the right to be sorry to me" he replied "do you have any idea how much trouble the human world could be in now without the gods being here?

all this talk about science and military and destructive weapons none of that would exist if the gods were still here!" he argued, "that's not what this world was created for understand?"

"so what do you expect me to be able to do about it?" She protested "I'm just one insignificant human girl"

"you smell like magic" he suddenly stated "that means you have power"

she rolled her eyes "really I have magic power? if I did I wouldn't be in this predicament"

"on the contrary sweetheart," he retorted "it's exactly why you're in this predicament, that old lady you mentioned she's been telling you those stories for a reason and those stories shouldn't be told to just anyone and the one telling those stories isn't ordinary either"

"I've been here for two thousand years sealed in a statue do you really think you're the only human who has seen me and has ever been drawn to touch me?"

"or got curious about me? before you, there have been hundreds of other humans including the monks who have dwelled here, and no one has ever been able to set me free until you until now"

her mouth opened and closed as she gazed at him wide-eyed in shock he was right but she didn't have an explanation to give him nothing about this situation was logical

"I have no idea how or why that just happened okay!" she cried

"I have never had anything like this happen to me before, even if weird things do happen its nothing like this! it's usually like accidents! I have bad luck all of sudden for no reason

everything consistently starts falling apart for no reason, it's like I've done something bad or am being punished or something I don't even know what magic is or how it's supposed to work! I've never been able to do anything magical and I've never met a celestial or demon or whatever the hell you are till now!"

"so please just let me go okay! you're free now! I'm sure you can go look for your gods or whoever on your own right? you don't need me you've got wings and stuff please just go fly away now, please"

"I told you I will not cause you any harm" he stated but he could still see the fear in her eyes the helpless confusion she was shaking and barely able to continue standing

"the others in my group are going to start looking for me soon and I've told you everything I know you need to let me go now" she pleaded "I'm sorry to be freaking out like this"

he sighed leaning his head against her pillar next to her

she was right there was nothing to be gained by him holding her captive here for much longer and it sure as

heck didn't help him figure out anything about this strange new world he had awoken to or how to even begin searching for his people

or what might have happened in the past two thousand years the only connection he had to this world was this girl who smelled

of celestial magic which meant that there were still traces of the celestial left in this world his only hope would be to stay by her side

until he could get used to the way this world worked and try to find a way to reunite with his people if they were still here

"please I need for you to trust me just a little," he said ill let you go but you have to do something for me"

"what do want me to do?" she asked helplessly

"my name is Takehiko Kurosaki and I am a prince of the Blue Raven Celestial Gate Keepers clan

so now that you know about me tell me who you are" he asked

" my name is Bethany Kline and I'm twenty-three years old

and I'm a university student studying Natural History and Archaeology at the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History in Washington dc"

she rattled off automatically before gasping and slapping a hand over her runaway mouth

"it's very nice to meet you Bethany Kline" he replied stating her full name

"you've been very brave this whole time, thank you for setting me free thank you for helping me"

Her eyes widened in surprise at his suddenly polite tone and at the unexpected compliment

"um, you're welcome?" she replied blinking at him in surprise

he smiled and her breath caught and her heart skipped

what was happening she wondered but in the next moment

then he suddenly kissed her

she tasted like heaven he thought and then everything fell into place as the golden celestial flames burst between them

so that was why! because of this fate, they were true mates, that's why no one but her could wake him, she had to be the one

the only one who's soul connection to his would be strong enough to reach through the seal and free him

if there was ever such a place soft and moist and sweet he teased her tongue with his eliciting her response but not expecting it

he had forced himself on her after all

he should feel like a heel for using such a method yet he couldn't bring himself to regret it he needed her his mate had found him, saved him and now he allowed her to claim every part of him

as he felt the mates bond tie him to her irrevocably he allowed his spirit to become one with hers he immediately cast a strong protection spell around her and in his hand appeared a necklace
