Chapter 10 End Of invasion

"Why won't you stay down!"

Ally lashed out at Damien, cutting his arms with her knives, while Luke dealt with Blake,

Blake moved aside as Luke shot at him, however, Blake strives toward Luke and went to stab him, but Luke grabbed the knife and hit his side with the back of his gun, Blake staggered, therefore, Luke took the advantage and knocked him on his back, aiming the gun at him. Blake glared up at him,

"Go ahead, end it," Blake seethed

"I should with how much you've done to my family," Luke told him,

He kept the gun pointed at him until someone threw a knife at him. Luke moved off of Blake. Luke looks ahead at Damien and Ally, Damien is firing his gun at her while Ally swiftly moves away from it and kicks him down, landing on him and mockingly smiling down at him.

"Is that all you got, Damien... I'm sad about this. I thought you would be better than this," Ally taunted

Ally placed her knife at his neck, glaring down at him menacingly.

"I should just…" Ally is stopped

A bullet pierced her arm, Ally yelled in pain and jumped off Damien, who took this chance to get up and grab her, putting her in a chokehold.

"Get off of me!" Ally yells

Blake got off the ground, looking at who shot Ally, Marcello stood there with Avalon by his side. She is holding onto him while glaring at him. Therefore, Marcello aims his gun at him, threatening.

"Get away from my brother. before I decide if you live or not,"

Blake moves away from Luke. However, Marcello aims his shot, hitting Blake in the side, the same side Avalon was shot in. Blake slid down the wall, glaring at them, holding his side.

"You have her," Damien said

Damien walked to them, followed by Luke, Damien saw the amount of injuries on both of them,

'We need... out of here," Avalon spoke

She held onto Marcello, feeling on the verge of fainting. Marcello picked her up again and stared at Damien and Luke, saying,

"Let's get moving,"

Damien nodded and walked next to Luke, patting his back. However, a stern voice stopped them.

"This won't be the last time I see you.... will it?"

Marcello glanced behind him and saw Blake looking up at him. no, at where Avalon lay on his chest, Blake snickered, but not one of enjoyment, but of grief.

"I always wonder what you have thought of me. after what I have done to you... and I know now that I won't make it up to you... Avalon, I couldn't let my life be determined by anyone but me,"

Blake fainted from blood loss, Marcello turned away from him and walked out of the hallway, following his brothers,

"Jane, the connections to the team of Damien and Luke, are they back on?" Renato asked

"Nothing from them. Do you have anything on Marcello?" Jane inquired

"The same," Renato said

He looked out the van window at Salvatore, he's talking over the phone and watching the base, hoping for a sign of them. until Salvatore,

"I need them to be working, I can't..." Salvatore stopped

Luke walked out with Damien, running to him. Salvatore didn't see Avalon with them. nether Marcello, Luke stopped in front of him with Damien, who kept looking behind him.

"Luke, are you both alright?" Salvatore asked

"We are fine, if anything, just some bruises," Luke spoke

"However, Avalon and Marcello will need first aid," Luke continued

"Where are they?" Salvatore asked

"Behind you," Marcello said

Salvatore looked behind him. He saw Marcello carrying a faint and injured Avalon. Marcello walked past him at the van door. However, Salvatore with Luke followed him,

"We need to get her in the hospital quickly," Marcello told them

Marcello placed Avalon on a seat in the van next to Renato, He went to strap her in the chair while Salvatore went to Marcello and placed his hand on Marcello's shoulder,

"Thank you,"

Salvatore went into the van and looked back at him before driving off, leaving the three of them standing there, before they went to fellow them,

"Avalon?"

She shakes in her sleep.

"You will rise again... I just hope that it wasn't too late,"

Avalon felt the heat in her hand… almost as if a burning fire was lit within it.

"Now wake up,"

Avalon jolted out of her spot. She tried to look around her, but her vision was blurred. However, a person sat next to her,

"It's fine. your fine, Avalon," Renato told her,

Avalon tried to look at him but couldn't. She rubbed her eyes while Renato placed a bottle of water on her lap,

"I thought that you would be thirsty," Renato said

Avalon looked at him and saw that he was in the chair next to the bed. She looked down at her lap where the water was,

"How long was I out for?" Avalon asked

"Almost a week," Renato told her

Avalon hummed, looking at her surroundings. She lay in the hospital.. it reminded her of the last time she was in the same predicament, but this time was different.

"Where are your brothers, and why aren't you with them?" Avalon asked

"I wanted to check on you. They have been busy with rebuilding the house and having a meeting with Salvatore. They didn't have the time to come with me to check on you,"

"How long have you been checking on me?" Avalon inquired

"Since you got here," Renato spoke

Renato looks away from her, feeling a slight heat on his face. he was worried about her. However, he knew she would be fine from what Salvatore told them,

"That what they did to her?" Damien said

Salvatore sat at his desk with Marcello, Damien, Luke, and Renato in a meeting with him, Salvatore curled his hand into a fist. he remembers how broken she was after the incident. he promised himself never to let that happen again. to her or his other agents,

"I knew that something was brewing with Ally. the utter hate that she had the last few months here was disturbing, " Salvatore told them

"I didn't know that my son was with her, communicating with the mafia. looking for a way out of shepherd... away from me,"

"Their mission from her was to was to prove themselves loyal to her. by killing my strongest agent and then coming back to her,"

Salvatore watched their reaction but saw nothing but a stern and angry look, coming in from the four.

"Avalon and Ally went on what was supposed to be Avalon's last mission. to take back lost information from the government and give it back, but it seemed that fate wasn't on her side."

"After Avalon took down the last gang member, she went searching for Ally. Ally thought ahead and went for her side, but in the back, after that, Avalon was under rubble, glaring at Ally as she set fire to the building, leaving her to burn,"

"She pulled herself out of the ruble and ran out of the building, she had a car with them beforehand, she drove back to the base, and she was able to call me while in the car. after that, she continued her work here, trying to find out who the boss and how they could stop them, the colluding of them and the government," Salvatore said

"Wow, wow, wow, stop, colluding with the government," Luke said

"I thought it was possible, but I didn't think it would go that far," Luke continued

"They have been for a while," Salvatore spoke

He got up from his chair, telling them,

"I want one of you to watch her for me, I have a feeling I won't be able to check her often,"

He turned to Renato,

"I've seen you watching over her. Would you look after her for me?" Salvatore inquired

"I will," Renato said

Salvatore nodded at him and then talked with his brother, Renato slowly got out of his spot walking towards the door, Marcello watched him and opened the door for him, Renato left the room heading towards where Avalon was.

"It seems that you're watching me, yeah?" Avalon asked

"Yes, I am. How was sleeping?" Renato inquired,

She looks away from him, remembering,

"Avalon... a smoldering fire you are,"

She sat up, scanning the room, but nothing. She laid back down and felt how sore she was. However, a voice called out,

"I'm sorry,"

Avalon sat up again, looking around once more,

"Whatever you are, I just went through a hard-fought fight... let me rest," Avalon says

She lay down with a low hum and went through the room. A harsh wind blew around her. She shoots up, looking above her, finding nothing.

"You have already apologized. leave me to rest," Avalon said

It got harsher taking items with it, and Avalon stayed still hearing.

"This won't be the last of them, Avalon,"

The door opened, and having the wind stop, Avalon turned to the door and saw Renato,

"Something weird, Renato... I can't explain, but "

Renato lays his hand on hers and says, "Dont worry, Avalon, take your time,"

She hummed. gathering the courage while the memoirs flood her vision.

"I was questioned by Morrigan," Avalon spoke

"She asked me how I got a glint. what that means, I don't know. She taunted me and ridiculed me until I spoke her name," Avalon continued

Renato listened to her, and he noticed her hand fidgeting under his touch. he gently rubs her knuckles before stating, "You don't have to tell me all of it. you just woke up Avalon,"

"Yes... I know Renato but it," Avalon stuttered

She turns to him with a tear running down her cheek,

"It was all mind-breaking... why would she want the glint in me?" Avalon said

"Then here shadow around her, came off her body and visited me,"

"A shadow?" Renato asked

"It's around her.. a power our ability that makes her stronger. it builds her up, giving her the strength to withstand so much agony," Avalon said

Avalon looked down at her lap, fidgeting until Renato held her hand tightly. She stared at him and listened,

"I can't make what happened to you better. but I can say this," Renato said

"We will find out what she is," Rentao told her

"How can you be so sure?" Avalon scoffed

"You made it out alive, didn't you?"

She glared at him, not understanding how he could be so calm, Renato smiled at her before saying,

"I know I sound ridiculous, but you have fought her and lived Avalon... there are not many who could say that," Renato said had a slight smile,

Her gaze softened, and she now understood somewhat.

"I'm not sure that it will be that easy, Renato," Avalon told him

"Life is never that easy. you know that," Renato said

Avalon hummed, laying her back on the bed and closing her eyes. While Renato watched her, he moved away from her and sat back until Avalon asked

"Why did you four help?"

Renato was staring at her before looking at the floor, he is ashamed that they did it for greed and not her well-being. However, it might be for something else.

"We helped because Salvatore made a deal with Marcello," Renato told her,

"I figured it would be something like that." Avalon scoffed

"Doesn't mean we didn't do it for your life as well," Renato said

"Did he offer anything else?" Avalon asked

"Not that I know of, but he is talking to them," Renato said

"Then if he offered to have you four as an agent...," Avalon inquired

He now stared at her, waiting for her to continue,

"I didn't want to fight this social rot, but after fathers death, I had no choice in my eyes," Renato let out, getting angry.

"However, I would accept the offer," Renato said

"Whys that?" Avalon asked

"Because what better way of ending the mafia than helping its enemy?" Renato said

Avalon smiles at him while chuckling.

"The enemy of my enemy," Avalon says

"Yes, if it helps anything, I believe that it would be better than what we have been doing," Renato said

"If that is how you see it, Renato, then I wouldn't mind working with you," Avalon said

"Marcello, on the other hand, I will have some issues with, "Avalon told him,

Renato didn't blame her for this, Marcello had been weary of her, and for good reason. Renato reasons with this having to wonder about the next steps,

"You don't have to worry about what..," Avalon is stopped

"You not angry at us for the deal?" Renato inquired

"No, I'm not," Avalon said

"Why? Are you fibbing? " Renato says

Avalon shakes her head,

"I can't be angry at this because it was a deal. was it not?" Avalon asked

"Yes, it is why...," Renato stopped

"Then it is done," Avalon told him
