RACHELLE'S POV
The silence between Alexander and I remained until it was interrupted by a knock on the door. Both Alexander and I looked up and before I had the chance to react, the door opened revealing Robbie. He was smiling sheepishly while scratching the back of his head.
"I'm so sorry to interrupt you two, but may I come in?" he said as he flashes another bright smile.
Like a ray of sunshine on a rainy day.
"Of course you can. Come have a sit" Alexander said, he then looked at me the edge of his lips tugged a little giving me a small smile.
Robbie approached us and upon reaching the table he sat beside me, which made my heart skip a beat and my face burn in multiple shades of red.
"What are you to reading?" he asked scooting a little closer towards me.
His action made my heart lift and face burned brighter than before… I wasn't sure how to react, my heart feels like it's about to explode. He's so close to me that I could smell him…
He smells really nice… it was a faint scent of lavender…
so…
so intoxicating I could remain in this position forever and still wouldn't have had enough.
"We were just reading a few journals from my father's collection, I thought maybe we could find some leads however there's still no luck." Alexander's voice brought me back to reality.
I quickly looked at him and I could tell that deep down his smirking at my behavior.
I shook my head trying to tell him it was nothing but we both knew better.
"I should help you two" Robbie said as he proceeded on taking a journal from the table.
"Yes, that would be wonderful" Alexander answered as he looked back on what he's reading.
"I'll just take these two journals home with me and don't worry I promise to keep them safe" Robbie said holding out two journals in his hands.
"Leaving so soon?" Alexander asked looking up once more.
"Yes, I have some business to attend to in town, so I better hurry" he said standing up
Alexander only nodded and said "Well then if you say so but remember not a scratch Robbie not a scratch"
They both chuckled "Yes I will keep your journals safe" Robbie said smiling once again.
Robbie then turned towards me,
"Are you coming with me or would you rather stay?" he asked, glittering blue eyes looking directly at me.
For a moment I was unsure but after a few more seconds of thinking, I've concluded… that I'd rather stay.
"NO… I should stay. I want to dig deeper into this and so I would like to stay with Alexander for the time being" I said a little hesitant, afraid that Alexander wouldn't like the idea.
"Well, If you want to stay then it's decided" I heard Alexander say catching my attention.
Robbie nodded agreeing with my decision.
"If that's your decision then, well... I should get going. Kristy has been waiting in the drawing-room after I woke her up" he said looking at me then shifted his eyes towards Alexander.
Both of them locked eyes for a moment.
"I'll walk you then" Alexander said as he stood up.
"No, Alex it's fine. I've here too many times I'm sure I could find the doors myself" Robbie said as he waves his hand dismissing Alexander.
"I don't want to disturb you two from your research any further" Robbie continue
Then he turned towards me with glistering eyes shining like newly polished diamonds.
"See you next time Rachelle" he said as he smiled directly at me
"I'll leave her to your care then Alex" Robbie said while Alexander only nodded
"See you soon" I said waving my hand bidding him farewell.
Robbie smiled one last time with the journals in hand he exited the library…leaving me with Alexander.
After Robbie and Kristy left. Both Alexander remained in silence, reading away from the contents of the journals in the table.
Until Alexander cleared his throat and said "If you're going to stay here, I think it would be for the best if we take a tour around the house."
I looked at him a bit surprised "You mean it?" I asked
"Of course, it's bad enough you're staying the last thing I want is for you to get constantly lost in the mansion" he said jokingly.
I rolled my eyes at this "Ha Ha very funny" I answered sarcastically, laughing a little.
Alexander stood up and approached me as he offered a hand for me to take.
"Shall we m' lady?" he said smiling a little.
I knitted my brows as I stared at him, once again I was wrong. Maybe just maybe we can be good friends, really soon.
I smiled taking him hand "lead the way good sir" I said matching his act which made him chuckle a little.
Alexander and I exited the library.
"Let's go back down and start on the first floor." He suggested which I only nodded in response he is the owner of the house after all.
Going back to the drawing-room, he led me to the side room.
"This is the nursery room, nothing special just a bunch of children's toys and books. The only good thing is that it has veranda connected to it" he said as we stepped in.
This room is the first room that isn't as dull as what I've seen so far, there's a huge shelf of children's storybooks in the far left corner of the room. A racking wooden horse on the right side of the room next to the window and in the middle I huge gray furry mat topped with several dolls and stuffy. It's also brighter due to the light coming from the windows and the glass doors leading to the veranda.
"This is the only bright room in this mansion" Alexander said suddenly, looking at the place as if it holds such loving memories and I'm sure that it did.
"Why is that? You could always just brighten the other rooms, right? Change the hues of the interior and allow more light inside." I said looking at him curiously.
"No, even if I did there are some things in the mansion that will never change no matter how hard I try." He said with sorrow in his voice.
His walls are crumbling a little I can feel it, his opening up to me.
This man is keeping a lot of secrets while hiding his own sadness.
If I'm going to stay here, and helplessly wait for Alexander to find my way home.
I need to do something for him in return.
I need him to open up, to welcome new people in his life.
To face his past and move forward,
I want to help Alexander and
I will.
He said it himself I need to find a purpose,
Now
I have.
A SECRET POV
A new purpose was found, the fate is set and coasts are clear.
An old lady's dry lips smiled ever so cruelly as she stared at the duo standing in the nursery room.
"He had been a stray for too long, it's about time to put him back to his place" a voice spoke, coming from another person from the back of the room. It was a girl around the age of 9 wearing a white robe, with her long black hair tied in a neat bun, her eyes are round and glistening as freckles are visible across her nose.
Another woman walked into the darkroom. She was in her late 30's wearing a red robe that fits perfectly in her curves, black wavy hair let loose: framing her beautiful face with her long lashes, her eyes sparkled like the stars in the night.
"Yes sister and soon retribution must be served"
The three smiled wickedly as they watched the other two walk out of the nursery room, making casual conversations and friendly jokes.
