Taken Away Again

Ammine exited the room. Kies could hear the sound of her wings flapping as she flew up the tower instead of taking the elevator. During this entire time as she left, both Kies and Arc remained silent.

Kies was unsure of what to say or do. After some more passed, Kies decided to ask the archive if it was really necessary to wipe out the human race to which it responded, "Of course, they are our enemies."

Kies was hesitant to say that he didn't really want to kill humans. Even after he learned what they had done to his race, Kies didn't exactly hold a grudge against them. There were a few of them that he liked, such as Yachhe, one of the butlers in the mansion who knew a little magic. He would help Kies during his free time train his own magic despite not knowing much himself. Then there were also Nina's parents. Though he spoke very little to her parents, he always thought of them as his own. Lastly, there was Nina herself who was his best friend.

"I sense that you are still unsure," Arc noticed. "But within time, you will understand it. For now, let us start your training." Lights flickered throughout the archive and screens appeared in front of Kies.

"What is this?" Kies asked while taking a step back in surprise. He tried to read what the screens said, but was unable to since he didn't understand the language. "I can't read it," Kies tells Arc.

"I see. It seems that it is best if we do this instead." There were a few short beeps and holograms appeared in front of Kies. But before he had the chance to ask about them, he heard a swoosh come from the entrance followed by the sounds of wingbeats.

Ammine had arrived back after only being gone for a few minutes. "Come with me," She said coldly and grabbed Kies without even waiting for a reply.

"What are you doing!?" Kies tried to protest but Ammine ignored him and continued to carry him off.

Suddenly a white forcefield appeared out of nowhere, blocking Ammine from exiting the Archive. "Sorry, but I cannot allow you to take Kies away," Arc says.

"I'm taking him to meet my king."

"I am afraid that you have to wait until I finish training him."

"How long will that take?"

"Several months or even a year or two depending on circumstances."

"That won't do, I'm taking him right now." Ammine stared at the devices in the room, glaring at them as if she wanted to destroy them.

"It seems that you refuse to take no as an answer. In that case, let us have a compromise. I cannot leave his side for several reasons right now. I will allow you to take him to meet your king if you allow me to accompany as well."

Ammine thought about what Arc said for a moment and then responded, "Fine, but I don't see how you can follow us."

"I have my ways." Mechanical sounds started up in the room and machines started to move around. An orb appeared in the middle of the room and light started to flood into it. After all the light had finished gathering, the orb suddenly changed its shape and flew towards Kies. He wasn't able to even see or react as the device attached itself to his wrist.

"This will do for now," said Arc's voice through the device. Kies examined the device that was on his wrist curiously.

"The barrier," Ammine said impatiently.

"It is not a barrier but rather a force-"

"I don't care what it is, take it down already." Ammine was even more impatient than usual. It seemed that the king was someone she either respected or feared to a great extent.

A soft hum started to spread through the air followed by the forcefield disappearing. The instant the forcefield disappeared, Ammine spread her wings, picked up Kies, and flew out. Kies had difficulty keeping his eyes open with the speed Ammine was flying at. She hadn't flown this fast before when he had kidnapped him. It looked like she was in a rush to get back.

Within seconds, she flew straight out the ruins and it disappeared from sight. The ground below them was a blur and Kies was unable to make out what the area under them looked like. Instead, he decided to look at the skies. It was dark already. He didn't notice how much time went by when he was in the ruins because the entire place was dark to begin with. The skies were covered with clouds and it was difficult to see what time of the day it was.

Kies tried to say something to Ammine but his voice was lost in the wind.

'You can convey your message to her with your mind.' Kies heard Arc's voice say in his head. He normally would've been surprised by what just happened but he didn't feel much anymore.

"How do I do that?" Kies said out loud but the wind once again drowned out his voice.

For some reason, Arc understood what he said and told Kies, 'I will teach you later, it seems that we are arriving at our destination.'

Kies looked ahead and saw lights glowing in front of them. They quickly got brighter as they flew closer. Ammine then took a sharp turn and flew towards a large building hidden behind a hill and dropped down to it, starling a few of the demons that were there.

But their surprise didn't last for long. The moment they saw Kies, they raised their weapons and pointed it towards him.

"Aeos," Ammine said. The demons looked at each other and then back at Kies and Ammine.

"That's him? Why does he look so much like a human? I could've sworn-" Ammine cut the demon off and told them to move out of the way. She put down Kies and gestured at him to follow her as she made her way towards the entrance of the building.

Kies followed her and walked past the demons who were still looking at Kies with a wary expression.

"Say, when did..."

"I think... Hm, so..."

Kies heard the demons whisper among themselves behind him. He couldn't hear what they were saying but they were probably saying something about him.

Ammine stopped in front of a large door that was guarded by two demons. Ammine said something to one of the guards and he looked at Kies, raised his eyebrow, and said something to Ammine then gestured for them to enter.

As Kies walked through the door, he saw the other demon to the side of him also gave him a strange expression. Was there something wrong with how he looked? He wasn't sure how the Aeos were supposed to look. He had assumed that they looked somewhat similar to himself.
