"What was that?" Kies heard a noise in the distance but it was too far away and faint for him to make out what it was. It sounded like a howl but he wasn't sure if that was what he heard.
"Hoo dear..." Haro sighed. "Looks like that child came in contact with the enemy. We better hurry."

Ammine rushed at the enemy and shoved her claws at their throat but they parried with their own claws and swiped back with their other hand. Ammine ducked and kicked the creature in the chest. It let out an annoyed growl and quickly lashed back. Ammine blocked the attack with her arms but the strength behind it broke through the magic coating them and left a small scratch on them. Ammine leaped back and the two of them circled each other.
Ammine took this moment to observe her enemy. She had jumped in before getting a clear look of what the enemy was. 'Fangs, yellow eyes, claws, and fur.' Ammine definitely recalled meeting one of these before but couldn't quite remember what they were called.
In the short exchange they just had, Ammine noticed that the two of them had a similar fighting style. But that was mainly due to the fact that they fought with claws. However, the creature's claws were much longer than Ammine's and it could only swipe and slash while Ammine could do that and punch as well. But she didn't know how effective punches would be since the creature's fur looked very thick.
After measuring each other up for another few seconds, the creature made the first move. It copied Ammine's attack and jumped forward, jabbing at her throat with its claws. Ammine did the same thing it did and parried the attack with her claws. The creature then brought down his other claw, targeting Ammine's face. She stopped the attack by knocking aside its arm with her arm and once again, kicked it in the chest. The creatures took a few steps back and growled in annoyance again.
Despite having coated her leg in magic this time, the attack didn't look like it did any more than angering the creature even more. "Hm, it doesn't look like blunt attacks work on you," Ammine said to the creature. She didn't know if it understood her or not. But it didn't look like it did since it didn't respond to her comment. The two of them circled each other again, looking for an opening.
This time Ammine took the initiative and launched a ranged attack at the creature. It blocked the attack with its arms and the magic singed its fur. Ammine followed up by swiping at the charred spot with her claws and cutting it. The creature grunted in pain and counter-attacked by swiping back at her before she could retreat. Ammine took the hit with her arms. "Tch." The attack broke through her layer of magic again and cut her flesh. The two of them backed off from each other. Ammine looked at her wounds. They were shallow and looked fine. It wasn't that big of an injury.
But the same couldn't be said for the creature. The cuts that Ammine gave were much deeper and a lot of blood was oozing from them. But the creature didn't seem to care. Ammine's hands flared up again and she shot another magic attack at the creature. The creature knew better than to block it again. This time, it took a step to the side and dodged the attack. The same trick won't work twice.
The fight looked like it was going to be a stalemate with neither of them being able to find an opening against each other. It didn't matter who attacked or who defended. They were both going to end up receiving an injury with each exchange. But suddenly, there was another howl in the distance. The creature in front of Ammine howled back and smiled at Ammine.
Ammine cursed to herself. The creature wasn't alone. It had allies. "I need to finish this fast before the other one arrives." She lunged at the creature, aiming at its throat. But instead of fighting, the creature dodged the attack and distanced itself from Ammine.
Ammine chased after it, trying to land a hit but it continued to run away. It was stalling for its ally. The chase continued for another minute before Ammine heard another howl. This time it was much closer. The creature's ears perked up and then it suddenly jumped at Ammine. She blocked its attacks with her claws, receiving many small cuts.
Ammine suddenly heard the sound of footsteps to her left and she looked to see five new pairs of yellow eyes, all racing towards her.
