The Pale Witch II

"So will you accept our offer or not? In exchange for you helping us take control of the forest, we'll help you in your fight against the humans," the White Witch stated her offer again.

Kies's eyes turn to Ammine. She was the one in charge of this mission and he was only following along to gain experience. So it was her responsibility to make the decisions. "I see no reason why we should refuse this," Ammine told the witch, accepting her offer. Ammine continued to keep her eyes on the floor while speaking to the witch to avoid being charmed by her.

The Bone Whistler didn't seem like someone that they could work with so the only other choice left is to ally with the White Witch. "So, what do you need us to do for you?" Ammine asked the witch. There was only so much they could do against an enemy as powerful as the Bone Whistler. Ammine was curious as to what the witch was going to tell them to do. Surely not, she was going to tell them to go fight it right?

"Well, I'm not going to ask you to fight the Bone Whistler, that's obvious," the White Witch told Ammine. "You're far too weak to even stand a chance against him. What I request for you to do is to hold off the lesser undead while I send someone capable enough to deal with him."

"Wait, you're not going to fight the Bone Whistler yourself?" Ammine looked at the witch with a confused expression. Who else was capable enough to take on the Bone Whistler then? Haro did say that there were several greater undeads serving her, but are any of them strong enough for the task? Ammine was pretty sure the answer to that question was no since if any of them were strong enough then they wouldn't have been forced to serve someone.

Ammine brought this question to the witch, "Then who is going to fight him?" Other than the witch herself, Ammine didn't think there was anyone strong enough to match up against the Bone Whistler. Was the witch planning to have multiple greater undeads fight against him at once or something?

The witch laughed softly and told Ammine in a disappointing voice, "Sadly, not even I have the power to win against that monster right now... nor do the rest of the greater undeads." Fae bitterly shook his head in agreement to the witch's remark. "It is as her excellency says, not even she herself can face off against that monster."

'Someone capable...' Ammine tried to think of anyone or anything in this forest that had the strength to beat the Bone Whistler. "I don't see- wait... is it that werewolf? Are you sending that red werewolf to fight him?"

"Yes, he is indeed the one that is going to fight the Bone Whistler," the witch confirmed Ammine's guess.

"Wait, are you sure he can handle it?" Ammine questioned the witch's decision to have the werewolf fight the Bone Whistler. Admittedly, Bloodmane was very strong, much stronger than her in fact. If Ammine were to guess, it would take around five of her to match his strength, but the werewolf was still far weaker than the Bone Whistler. That monster had an aura as powerful as Tornon. Bloodmane was nowhere close to that level of strength.

"I can see that you're confused," the witch said. "It is exactly as you see it. Bloodmane is quite weak compared to the Bone Whistler, but believe me when I say that he has the ability to fight him. Your mission is to keep the small fry off him as he takes on the Bone Whistler."

"Alright, I guess we can do that." Ammine didn't know how the werewolf was going to do it but she shouldn't question the decision anymore. All they needed to do was carry out their task. The witch probably had a plan in mind to take down the Bone Whistler.

"Wonderful. The fight will happen tomorrow. Be sure to be ready by then."

"Understood my lady," Haro hooted.

"Okay, Fae, please show our friends here somewhere where they can rest for tonight."

"Yes, your excellency." Fae bowed and then told the group to follow him. "This way please." Fae leads the group to a teleportation array behind them. He waited for everyone to get onto it before he got in as well and activated the array. They teleport to a medium-sized room that was surprisingly well decorated with furniture. It wasn't a place that one would expect to see in a forest such as this one. There were a few beds, a couch, and even several bookshelves filled to the brim with books. Some of them looked very old and were falling apart while others looked fairly new as if they were just recently made.

Fae tapped the wooden floor with his staff and told the four, "You're free to use this room as you like. Just... don't break or destroy anything please. It's a headache to get replacements."

"Hoot, we're not barbarians you know," Haro assured Fae that they wouldn't damage anything in the room.

"Okay. In that case, I won't disturb you any longer. Please rest well for tomorrow's fight." Fae took a small bow and then left through the array they came from. Kies noticed that Fae's footsteps didn't make any sound as he walked away. It was either that he was very light, or that he was a spirit of some kind and had no physical form at all.
