"I wish I could, but the Bone Whistler is in hiding right now. And for whatever reason, I can't seem to sense his presence at all anymore. I doubt my clairvoyance will be able to locate him," said the witch.
"Is there a limit to what you can see through it?" Kies asked.
"Yes, I can only see what's on the surface. The Bone Whistler is aware of my powers and therefore, knows to not be on the surface. He is likely hiding somewhere underground," the witch theorized.
"And considering the earth magic that we just saw, the chances are near a hundred percent," Fae added. There was without a doubt that the magic the two undead used to escape from them was earth magic. And since it didn't look like Lisler, the lady, nor the Bone Whistler could use earth magic, there is probably someone else involved as well. It looked like the Bone Whistler had another ally. Fae pointed this out to the others. "I have a very strong feeling that we have one more enemy to worry about now after what we just saw. The Bone Whistler might have a third ally that we're unaware of."
The others agreed with what Fae said and also believed that there is another enemy that they're unaware of. "So what do we do now?" Bloodmane asked. He instinctively turned to the witch, directing the question at her since she was the one who was in charge of everything.
The witch was silent for a moment before she sighed and shook her head hopelessly. She opened up a rift and told everyone, "Let's head back for now. We have no information on the Bone Whistler's whereabouts and who or what the new enemy may be. We need to plan things out before striking again... if we are still able to after today." The Bone Whistler's power was rapidly growing. The chances were that they wouldn't stand a chance against him anymore after today, but they didn't seem to have another choice.
"I'm not going back," Ammine suddenly said. Everyone looked at her. "I'm going to hunt that thing down today. I'm tired of being in this forest. Witch, remember your side of the deal. After I kill the Bone Whistler, I'm leaving this place." Without waiting for anyone to say a word, Ammine unfolded her wings and took to the skies, blasting a huge wave of dust everywhere as she did so.
*Cough Cough.* Fae swept at the dust in front of him with his staff while covering his mouth with his sleeve. "Oh dear... It doesn't look like we can go after her either. I didn't see which direction she flew off in, she was too fast. Did any of you catch which way she had gone off in?" Everyone shook their heads no except Haro. She was much faster than before because she wasn't carrying a person this time around. But then again, it didn't look like Fae weighed much so Kies was unsure as to how she was so much faster.
"Hoot, she flew off that way," the owl pointed the tip of his wing back in the direction of where they came from. Haro somehow managed to see which direction Ammine flew off in and directed them towards it.
"Back where we came from?" Fae said confusingly. "That's strange. Why would she go that way?"
"Hmph, let her do what she wants. I'm not heading back either," Bloodmane spoke for himself. Everyone turned to him, wondering why he wasn't going to return either. "It's faint but I can smell that undead swordsman's scent. There's something off about it but I'm certain that it is his scent. I'm going to track him down." The other werewolves looked around confused. It didn't seem that they could smell it and had no clue what their leader was talking about.
"In that case, shouldn't all of us follow you?" Fae pointed out.
"No, that's a bad idea," Bloodmane disagreed. "I have a very bad feeling about this one. My guts are screaming danger, and they're never wrong. It's best if I go alone." Bloodmane turned down the rest of his pack when they started to protest.
"Let us come with you!" One of them yelled.
"No. I'll be putting you all in danger if I let you follow," Bloodmane argued.
"Wait, which way is his scent coming from?" Kies interrupted and asked the werewolf.
Bloodmane gave Kies a strange look but pointed in the direction left of where Ammine headed off in. "It's coming from that way."
Kies' eyes narrowed in the direction. He couldn't see anything but trees but there was something tugging at him in that direction. It wasn't a feeling that he could describe, but he knew what was in that direction. "I think I might know where he is."
