Ancient Cavern III

"That's just great..." Bloodmane mumbled. "We came all the way here for nothing."

"Hoot. Child, can you describe to us how the 'entrance' looks?" Haro asked Kies as he was the only one who was able to see it. Kies tried depicting the wall and the door in front of him to the best of his abilities. After he finished, everyone looked back at the wall blankly, still unable to see what Kies was talking about.

Haro continued to stare intently at the wall while everyone else gave up trying to see what Kies was seeing and distanced themselves from the wall in case of something dangerous happening to them just by being near it. The feathers on Haro's head perked up and the owl's head suddenly did a 180 as he turned around. One of the werewolves who were behind him yelped in surprise seeing this. "Did anyone else hear that?" Haro asked.

"Hear what?' Bloodmane looked around to see if there was something around them but found nothing. "Our ears are very keen, I think it might be just you," the werewolf said after a bit of searching with his eyes. He didn't see anything else in the ravine other than them.

"Hey boss, I think I hear something too," one of the werewolves told Bloodmane.

"Huh? What do you hear? Cause I don't hear anything."

"It sounds like... the wind?" the werewolf responded with uncertainty. He wasn't sure what the sound was.

"Isn't this entire place windy?" said Fae. "It isn't strange to be hearing it. Instead of talking about this, we should be trying to figure out this 'entrance' and how it relates to the Bone Whistler and where he ran off to."

"No, the wind sounds different," the werewolf explained.

"Yes, indeed it does," Haro also said. "It doesn't sound natural."

"What do you mean by that?"

"Give me a second." Haro flew around the walls of the ravine, attempting to pinpoint the location of where the sound was coming from. After some time, he found the source of the sound and flew back to the group. "It's coming from behind that wall," he told everyone.

The witch guided her magic ball of light to the section of the wall where Haro said the sound was coming from and examined it. At first glance, it didn't look any different from the rest of the rocks that made up the wall, but at closer inspection, they saw that the stone in the area was a slightly lighter color than the rest of the stone. Furthermore, the area where the lighter stone is stretched decently high and was also rather wide.

"You don't think..." Fae walked up to the stone and tapped it with his staff. The wall was hollow where light stone stood.

"This lighter rock is oddly about the same size as that monster," Bloodmane observed. The werewolf did not hesitate as he walked over to the wall and gave it a hard punch. There was a small crack where his punch landed. Slowly, the crack grew bigger and bigger until it webbed throughout the entire wall, bringing it crumbling down on them.

"Sh*t!" Bloodmane let out a curse as everyone frantically ran away from the wall to avoid being buried under it as it came down. *Groan* Undead appeared on the other side of the wall as the last piece of it fell to the ground. "Well, what do you know, there's a passageway behind here. It looks like this is definitely it." The werewolf stretched his arms and walked up to the horde of undead that were crowding the tunnel and began slaughtering them. The other werewolves joined in and within seconds, the fight was over.

After the fight ended, Bloodmane looked back at the rest of the group who did nothing but watched the fight and said, "What are you all standing around for? Don't we have to move?"

There must have been a hundred of them or so because the tunnel was now littered with bodies and there wasn't a single spot left open where they could put their foot down without stepping on a corpse. Haro, Issie, and the witch had it lucky since they could fly or hover over the bodies while the rest of them had to waddle through. There was also the occasional undead that was still 'alive' laying on the ground with a dismembered limb and was unable to move. The only thing they could do was wiggle around, trying to bite at them as they walked past.

"These things sure are tenacious," Bloodmane said while stomping and smashing a writhing undead's head with his foot.

"Ugh, and disgusting too," Fae added. His shoes and the lower part of his pants were covered in the rotting blood and guts of the undead. Somehow, it was only him who was suffering from this problem. The rest of them were lucky and the path they took involved stepping in the places where there were the least blood and guts. Seeing that he was the only one who was dealing with this, Fae carefully hopped over to the side and landed right behind Bloodmane where there were none at all.

After a bit of walking, they made it out of the river of corpses and continued down the tunnel easily and swiftly. The tunnel eventually opened up to a big cavern covered all over with moss. And in front of them, pathing all the way across the cavern were giant footprints in the moss, leading further in. There were also a few smaller footprints alongside the giant ones which without a doubt belonged to the Bone Whistler.

Kies started making his way out of the tunnel and into the cavern but was stopped by Fae. "Careful, there might be more undead here," he quietly said.
