Long ago, there lived a young boy who was very dissatisfied with his life. After some thinking and planning, the boy decided to leave the village he lived in and explore the vast world, for he did not want to be contained in such a small place for the rest of his life. One night, when everyone else was asleep and everything was prepared, the boy left the small village with a small bundle of food and water and set off into the world.
The boy didn't have a map and therefore had no idea where he would go, so he let his curiosity lead him wherever and headed off. It didn't take long for him to regret his decision. After about an hour, he began to hear terrifying noises. Twice, he almost fell prey to some dangerous creature lurking in the dark. He wanted to return home, but by then it was already too late. He was lost and had no idea where home was and how to get back.
The sound of his weeping attracted the interest of a pack of wolves. They quietly followed him as he walked around the forest without him knowing. They stalked him for a while. They stopped to take a break whenever the boy stopped to take a break. Whenever another animal took interest in him, the wolves scared them off.
This continued for the rest of the night until the boy found shelter under a large hollow tree and slept there for the night. All the while the boy was sleeping, the wolves kept guard. When dawn broke, the wolves left the boy and went back home. The boy awoke to the birds chirping and the sound of people calling out his name.
He quickly got out of his hiding place and ran towards the voices. Glad to have been found, the boy made a vow to never leave the village again and zigzagged through the forest to the ones who were calling him. He burst through the brush yelling, "I'm here! I'm here!"
But instead of finding people from his village like he had expected to, he saw something he never wished to see in his entire life. Hanging from the branches of a large tree where the bodies of several people whom he all recognized from his village. All of them had their guts split open and were missing their eyes.
Standing under the tree was a horrid creature sewing clothes and accessories out of the guts and eyes of the poor villagers. The boy, shocked with fear, froze at the terrible sight and watched as the monster stopped what it was doing and got up. It grinned and slowly walked up to the boy with his arms outreached. "Miuo, Miuo! Where are you Miuo!?" The creature yelled out the boy's name. It was mimicking the villager's voices when they were out in the forest searching for him.
Just as the creature was about to grab the boy, a flash of gray shot out of the bushes and jumped onto the creature. It screamed in surprise as it tried to fight off its attacker. A wolf several times the size of a man pinned down the creature and tore out its throat. Black blood gushed out from the creature's throat and spilled all over the wolf's clean fur. The creature flinched a couple of times before going completely still.
The boy fell on his bottom after seeing what just happened and started crying again. The wolf left the boy's sight but stayed hidden behind a nearby patch of tall grass and watched over him. His crying eventually attracted the attention of another group of villagers who were out searching for him. Upon arrival, all of them were so horrified to see their fellow villagers dangling from the tree with their bodies mutilated.
A brother of one of the women that were killed ran up to the boy and started beating him angrily. "This is all your fault! If you hadn't run away, this would never have happened!" One of the other villagers who regained his composure a little quickly ran over to the man and restrained him.
"Stop!"
"D*mn it, let go! He doesn't deserve to live!"
The two struggled for a good while before the other villagers also recovered from the shock and went over to break up the fight. Eventually, things settled down, and the man stomped angrily away. As he passed by the monster who did this to his sister and fellow villagers, he furiously kicked the body for about five minutes before running out of energy and leaving.
The boy suffered a broken nose and several bruises all over his body but he accepted it because he knew that all of this was indeed his fault and that if he didn't run away from home, none of this would have happened. It was exactly as the man said. He was entirely to blame for this.
The wolf watched as the villagers took the boy away and after he was sure that they were out of sight, he jumped out of his hiding place and jogged over to the corpse of the creature. The man's fierce attacks had caused the body to be disfigured to the point where it was almost impossible to recognize it anymore. In the end, the wolf couldn't tell which was worse: humans or the creature. From what he saw, both were equally cruel. Maybe one was even crueler than the other...
