A Contest Of Strength VIII

For a moment, the entire crowd was silent. They were just as shocked as Ammine to see that something had managed to break her armor. Even Tornon and Reepmn who were on the side watching were surprised by it. Neither of them had expected Kies to be able to get through Ammine's armor.

"You broke my armor which very few demons here have actually managed to do. Not bad," Ammine commended Kies for his accomplishment. "But, you'll still have to do better than that if you want to beat me." Ammine shook her arm so that all the broken pieces of her armor could fall off and then regenerated it back in less than a second.

If only Kies could. He was out of magic power and couldn't fight anymore. It was unbelievable how fast she could heal up all the damage Kies had done to her. "I'm out of magic," he told Ammine.

"Already? I have barely even gotten started though."

"Say, if you had something like that, why didn't you use it against the banshee or the Bone Whistler?" Kies asked her.

"Huh? Well, the banshee could just fly through me and take my soul even if I had this armor on. As for the Bone Whistler, it's similar to the banshee in the sense that my armor is useless against him too."

Seeing the Kies could no longer fight, Ammine dispelled her armor. The pieces fell on the ground and disintegrated into magic particles. The crowd booed at Kies, but he couldn't blame them. It wasn't the best way to end a fight, and when compared to the previous fight between Reepmn and Allal, it was a lot more underwhelming. Their fight tore the entire arena apart while Kies' and Ammine's was nothing more than Kies trying to break Ammine's armor, not to mention the vast difference in the spells they used.

Ammine scratched her head and said, "Ah whatever, I'd say you have grown a little stronger, but you're still far from enough. But the fact that you managed to break my armor is more than enough to qualify you for the mission."

The two of them turned to where Tornon and Reepmn were watching from. Tornon said something to Reepmn. They couldn't hear from this distance, but judging from Reepmn's facial expressions, Kies was pretty sure that Tornon was telling the demon that he wasn't going to change his decision. Reepmn shook his head angrily but said nothing more and walked away.

Tornon's eyes met Kies' and he smiled approvingly of their fight despite the rest of the demons in the crowd booing at him disappointedly. The crowd dispersed after a minute and Kies and Ammine walked over to Tornon and Jasyeu. The small demon ran up to Ammine and started bombarding her with questions, or at least that was what it sounded like to Kies.

"When is the mission anyway?" Kies asked Tornon while those two were talking to each other. It was literally only an hour ago that he and Ammine came back. He really hoped that he would get time to rest before the mission. Well, it wasn't really a good rest that he needed, but rather some time to practice magic. Especially now that he learned that he could create his own spells. There was so much that he wanted to try out now that he knew this was possible.

Tornon put his hand on his mouth and looked like he was thinking about it. "Wait, did you not decide on that yet?"

"No, not yet. Unlike Reepmn's mission, yours is nowhere near as urgent. I guess in a few days?" Tornon said after giving it some thought. "You just came back so you need some time to rest, or maybe not you actually, but Ammine sure does. There are bags under her eyes and she looks like she hasn't eaten or drank anything in a long time."

Now that Tornon mentioned it, Ammine really did look terrible. He had forgotten that he didn't need to eat or drink since he didn't ever feel hungry or thirsty anymore. Ammine had gone several days without food or water which was probably deadly for a human. It seems that demons were a lot more durable than humans.

"Well, I'm going to have her go rest and report to me what happened later, or maybe you can do it in her place. You don't look tired at all."

"I could try, but I'm not very good at explaining things." That and the fact that Kies' memory was pretty bad. He could probably tell Tornon most of the important things, but if he were to ask for everything that happened, there was no way that Kies would be able to report all of that.

"You don't have to be specific down to the smallest of things, just enough so that I get an idea of what happened."

"Okay, I'll try my best," Kies told Tornon everything that he could remember about what happened in the forest. He started off with how they were ambushed by the Bone Whistler, found by werewolves, made a deal with the White Witch, and lastly defeated the Bone Whistler. "And I think that should be it." Kies tried to recall if there were any important details that he might have missed, but couldn't think of anything. He got most of the important things down.

"Hmm, I see." Tornon crossed his arms and looked like he was deep in thought about something. "You can head back to the hut for now. It seems that there are a lot of things that I need to do." The demon king reminded Kies where his hut was in case he forgot before walking away.

The report surprisingly didn't take very long. Kies managed to finish telling Tornon almost everything in roughly ten minutes. Somewhere in the middle of Kies' report, Ammine left with Jasyeu, probably to get food, water, and some rest after seeing that Kies would handle the report for her. The demons of the village were also all gone, doing their own things.

Kies headed to the hut in the forest which was his home now. Where was his previous home before? For some odd reason, he couldn't remember that. All he knew was that he used to live in Silverfield, but where exactly in Silverfield did he live, and who did he live with?

Kies tapped the bracelet on his wrist to call for Arc. There were a lot of things he wanted to ask about, especially the problem with his memory.
