"What kind of clothes did you choose?" The bag that Falte had taken was the one that contained the new clothes that Kies brought for him and Ammine. He pulled out one of the shirts and inspected it with a confused look on his face. It had green and red stripes. It looked like something someone would wear for a festival or party. It wasn't something you would want to wear casually.
"These are the only ones that are big enough to fit you. Everything else was too small," Kies explained to them. The two of them were far taller than the average human and because of that Kies had trouble finding clothes that would fit them let alone find something that size that looked nice. Falte's disguise had worn off and the two demons were looming over him. Yep, if he had picked anything else, it wouldn't have fit them.
"Are you serious?" Falte really wasn't happy about how the clothes looked. He forced himself to try one of the shirts on and found that it just barely fit him. If it was just an inch shorter, part of his belly would be exposed. "Amazing..."
Ammine turned her head and tried her best to hold in her laugh. The striped shirt did not suit him and it was hilarious to see someone like him wear something like that. "Since you won against us, I'll let you have the first pick. I'm guessing you will be taking that one?" Ammine told him while smirking.
"Very funny. Why don't you take this instead? I think it'd suit you better than me." Falte took off the shirt and pushed it onto Ammine.
"No, it's fine. It looks great on," Ammine pushed the shirt back onto Falte.
"I insist. It's a great shirt and I think it's wasted on me. It's much better on someone more charming."
"No, it's alright."
The two demons continued pushing the shirt back and forth. While this was all happening, Kies saw that Messa was just sitting quietly watching the two with a non-changing expression. It didn't look like she found anything amusing at all.
Jasyeu walked over to the bag of clothes that was now lying sideways on the ground after Falte had knocked it over with his feet during his struggle with Ammine and picked it up. Inside were several more shirts and pairs of pants that looked just as if not more ridiculous than the one that was in the two demons' hands currently.
It looked like this was going to last for a while so Kies offered the bag of bread to Messa who hesitantly took it. She didn't look like she was sure of what to do with the food but Kies didn't want to be in here any longer. He left the room, carefully stepping past the two arguing demons, and went outside to get a breath of fresh air. The smell of mud filled his noise which was neither pleasant nor unpleasant.
Since the plan was to wait for supplies to arrive tonight, they weren't going anywhere. Kies was planning to use this time to go into town and take a look around to see what he could find. "Hey, I'm going back to town," Kies told the two demons through the door. He wasn't sure if they heard him as they were both still too busy bickering but hopefully, they did.
After telling the demons where he was going, Kies left and went back into the city through the alleyways. The ground was slippery and everything was drenched earlier, but most of it had dried up by now and Kies made his way back into the market in a couple of minutes.
There were a lot more people outside now and Kies had to wait for an opportunity to leave the alley and blend into the crowd. He was careful to keep his distance from everyone and walked at a pace that was neither too fast nor too slow as to not stick out.
"I'm telling ya, that house is haunted or something. I almost got my head done in by it!"
Kies passed by a group of men who were talking loudly to each other. It took Kies a few seconds but he recognized one of them as the one from the other day who made a commotion attacking an elven boy. He was telling his friends about how the roof of one of the houses suddenly broke for no apparent reason and a piece almost hit him.
"Are you sure you weren't drunk? A possessed house. That's my first time hearing that."'
"I'm telling ya. It's the truth!"
If only he knew that the ghost who possessed the house was actually him. Kies smiled underneath his cover and continued down the street. Now that he thought about it, what happened to that girl and the elf? It wasn't like she could bring him anywhere since he was a slave. Did she return him to the soldiers? That was probably safer than being stuck on the streets, but he will eventually end up in the same situation soon enough if that happened. He hoped that the two were fine, especially the elf, but there wasn't much he could do to help them now.
Kies walked down the street and saw a stall that caught his attention. He hurried over to it and looked down. Displayed across the table were necklaces, bracelets, and other accessories. Laying on the middle of the table was a wooden carving of a bird attached to a long string. It was the necklace that he had.
"Anything that interests you?" the seller asked Kies. His eyes followed Kies' eyes to the necklace. "Ah, that one. Not my best product. I was surprised that someone even brought it the other day. Because it sold, I decided to carve another one." He picked the necklace and held it up. Kies saw that it was slightly different from his. But overall, it was still the same thing.
